I can relate to Charlie, specially family wise, my late nan was my everything, mum was not in the picture from the age of 4months my nan took over, dad pretty much living he's best bachelor life, my uncles took on the role of parents although they were away 9 months out of the year, not a bad family, just a bit strange, my sister and I were very close each others best friends only when we grew up we understood how far from normal we were and slight unconventional, not a lot of support or praise so I get the cold comment you made. Some people specially family never help they only make matters worse. Take this from someone who's spent a couple Christmas's New Year's alone, actually last year I left my families house on the 25th!

The first two times I watched this episode I had to pause the scene with Elle’s interview because I was just so furious and sick to my stomach and angry on her behalf that someone could treat her like that - a classic “gotcha” moment that certain media outlets unfortunately delight in. Watching you react to the scene made me angry all over again. And having Charlie cutting himself again is equally painful - but the show handles it so well, letting us know what’s happening without getting too dark or intense, which wouldn’t at all be in keeping with the Heartstopper vibe. Like you, Luke, I love this show so much - it’s unique and I love it’s characters too. I feel so damn protective of them!

Alice goes a lot further in the book regarding Charlie’s self-harm relapse and the fight with Nick. I imagine that the show probably would’ve if Netflix had given them a few more minutes per episode.

I actually wish their argument scene was longer because that’s what’s realistic it’s not gonna be happy and cheery all the time your gonna have arguments especially with Charlie being on his healing journey it’s stressful for both of them and it would’ve made them coming back together and apologizing to each other and advancing in their relationship mean even more

In regards to Elle’s interview, it was much more serious than I realized. In a RUclips video I recently watch, they pointed out that publishing that interview would have exposed Elle to potential online bullying, harassment, and even potential death threats. She’s 16! And she’s on social media where anyone can find her! That kind of interview could have attracted the attention of dangerous bigots.

This show is incredible! I find it so wild how at the end of season 1 I viewed Lestat as the most villainous, but by the end of season 2 Lestat is redeemed (only slightly ofc), and Louis and Armand are now both right down at equivalent levels of "bad" in my eyes. It's cool seeing a show have no real hero/villain and just having all the characters be morally grey. Armand is probably my fav/the most interesting character overall though imo.

I’m so glad I’m not the only person who had an instant, visceral reaction to seeing David Nelson on screen! I was so immediately angry when he appeared, which sort of surprised me - but then I also loved the way Nick tries to get him to engage with the rest of the family, because of course Nick would. And so lovely to see Oliver on screen too - who is Tori & Charlie’s little brother in the comics. Another great episode - the way it depicted gender dysphoria was handled so sensitively and cleverly - and speaking as someone who hates Christmas because of all the forced bonhomie and family pressures of the day, it was good to see a bad Christmas depiction for once. Loved your reaction as always too and looking forward to rewatching the remainder of the season with you!

When it comes to Christmas, I have a love/hate relationship with it. The problem is Christmas always magnifies problems you have. A problem say in April is just a problem, but when it happens at Christmas it is magnified a million times worse, because we are sold the lie that we are all supposed to be happy over Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Horrible time for anyone with mental health issues.
