Snowmobile sleigh prototype undercarriage build, Fox suspension
A "quick" test of the working range of my snowmobile sleigh build. In Sweden the personal transportation sleighs are verry common, much so more than in north America.
It is common for snowmobile families to have one snowmobile and one sleigh to get out in to the wilderness instead of having two or more snowmobiles, which seems to be the standard/norm in the north Americas to get the family out.
I find it kind of strange/weird that in Sweden we have 3-4 "major" brands of personal transportation sleighs, and 5-10 historical manufacturers. Whilst in the north Americas, there are verry few/ "none"
Any way, this is the foundation of my build.

"Short" video of the first few turns of the -15 season powder. The vid is made to showcase the exhaust sound emitted from using a tunnel dump. This is why the long segment of the descent from the hill isn't cut out from the vid. Worth mentioning is that the lumbered area has yet been prepared for tree planting, so the otherwise risk of running over new planted trees and causing devastating dama...

Driving along a short stretch of powerlines. Warm day, rich jetting due to piston/cyllinder break-in period. Great winter so far, but the spring has arrived so the snow has now set, and it is deep, verry heavy and filled with moist. Tricky snow to get the optimum clutching but check out mxzx-revzone.com for custom fitted clutch kits for your sled! Joey is the best out there.

A very tired young man (me) trying to do some hillside carving. The wide front end of the Renegade gives you great advantage on the trail, but despite me having the sway bar removed, it is still a tough sled to sidehill with at the end of the day. The aggressively coupled rear suspension makes a man wish he had a summit sometimes, but more then often the Renegade is great! The track, clutch and...

More of a proof of concept then a exact copy of the suspension. I have come to realize during the project that several measurements in my notes are questionable or just noted down in a careless way. Will be making new measurements the coming week and hopefully get the project moving again.

    Is this a common upgrade to any ptech. Is this considered cross drilling the crank? Is your plan to continue use of the Isoflex grease. On both bearing assemblies?

    • @TheSledgarage-inc
      @TheSledgarage-inc 8 месяцев назад

      Hey Matt Let's just say that it isn't uncommon to do it. I didn't continue to relay on isoflex grease since I drilled out both sides PTO and MAG. The drainage/catchtunnel should have been lover down on the flat rather then up in the wall/slope. But it worked good. Crossdrilling the crank?, that's a new term in my book Take care man!

      @@TheSledgarage-inc Awesome. I've done the mag side as similar but I went more on flat. I'm going to use the existing hole on the pto side. By connecting a piece of oil line from the windage tray. Skidoo has us cap those 2 fittings off. Lets hope she stays together. Good video man. Happy Brrrraaaappping

    You need the 90° airfilter pipe in this kinda snow, the one that looks like a submarine pipe in the back. You'r chocking it since the airfilter is getting full of snow. Yes late answer... But I thought if someone else had problems...

    Do you have a tunnel dump or the proper silencer under the tunnel?

    • @TheSledgarage-inc
      @TheSledgarage-inc 5 лет назад

      Heey Lauri! The silencer is the standard MCX which follows the 240hp kit. I cut the exhaust flange between the turbo and silencer and flipped it 180° and then welded it up. The sled is a RTX not a MTX so it hasn’t got the extra cooler in the tunnel.

    • @TheSledgarage-inc
      @TheSledgarage-inc 5 лет назад

      Heey Ben! No I don't 😅 Thanks for the concern. The adjustment was set tight per DJ's recomended, the sled was equipped with a race clutch and DJ kit as well. The belt was a Carlisle and they often whine like that. They have a different rubber composition than the ones from BRP. I'still run the belts this way and last season it got me 1900km on the 17 Summit 850 wo. blowing a single belt. Thanks for the intrest in the channel🤙

      And the drive sprockets where 3" 7t wahl bros to accommodate the lugs in the tunnel. At this time I've changed the skid to a 144" PPS skid, and made a 4" setback. The track I'm now running is the 2.5" PEAK multiduro, 153" x 16" with 2.86" 7t avid drive sprockets.

    heey alexxo92 & thanks, those donuts where the best I could do with the little strength I had left in me that afternoon. As for the engine, I've had the RKT827 since january 2008, and I am really pleased with the strength and pull it provides. I can't say that I remember the stock 800, it's way of delivering power, the powercurve and so of, and I am very careful not to ride any other sleds then mine, since that might steer my path astray, I doubt it, but it may happen ;-) so, big diff? YES.

  • @TheSledgarage-inc
    @TheSledgarage-inc 12 лет назад

    @mxzxRevzone yepp you are right, I turned it up to this position since it looked as it was low in the secondary. But then instead it started acting as it was way to tight in the secondary. I'm currently riding on my spare belt, the stupid 383 belt. Found a 377 in the garage when I got home though, so I'm all set for next ride, in 2-3 weeks...

    hehe, yeah, I know, Im a bad row-model to justify the ride without helmet, I knew it to be a short test ride just to check the angle/position of the camera. Usually I always use my helmet, keeps my ears warm and my head safe. If it makes anyone feel better, the cap blew of my head 2-3 times during the ride. so, thanks for the comment, stay safe! //J
