That guy wire tip is genius!!!! I knew there had to be a way to do it.
Had to go over and check out the Terrain in person today. That just might be the one. Great video
That's awesome! We are both fortunate to be close to the TC shop, where we can see their products in person and talk directly to Todd and Carol. For many that is not the case, so be sure you share your findings with the small camper community. Keep us posted if you end up with the Terrain for your outdoor adventures. There is defiantly a place for these style trailers and would love to hear how you put it to use. Thank you for taking the time to stop in, drop a comment and provide positive feedback. Stay hungry for adventure!
Would love to see something that’s maybe a tad smaller and around 1600lbs dry
I hear ya! In the small camper world, they are always walking the line with trailer size and weight. I am not sure you could cut to 1600 lbs, but if you ordered this trailer without the extension platform, no tool box up front, and a simple build-out, you would be pretty close. Might be worth a conversation with Todd.
I’ve owned a Hiker Trailer for over a year now . Looking at this trailer and comparing it , I’d say that I wish I could have seen a trailer like this last year when I was looking . Don’t get me wrong my Hiker is top notch but I absolutely love the layout of the TC interior . I love my roof rack on my Hiker , I’ve got all 4 bars and I’ve made a complete roof rack system that is awesome. I have the roof AC and the expensive fridge box on the front. My Hiker weighs in at 2400 pounds with normal camping gear , 2600 with Generator and gas . The tongue weight is 280 -350 lbs according to how it’s packed and if the generator / rear basket is attached . It’s a little heavy , the Jeep doesn’t have problems pulling it unless in the mountains on steep grades. I wish I had a combination of the two trailers , I think it would be neat . I paid more than 16k for the Hiker but I did option it out nicely. Overall I was very impressed with that TC trailer .
Thank you for providing this context and view point. It's always nice to get a detailed comments based on experience with other small camper brands. For those out shopping and looking into different trailers, these types of comments are SUPER helpful. Based on your feedback, it sounds like you have a dialed outdoor adventure system! My kind of people! Thanks again for taking the time to drop a comment. Stay hungry for adventure!
FINALLY !!!!! 6 FOOT SIDES NEXT ???
Skies the limit! Well that and highway overpasses.
Would love to see that. All I wanna see is a basic trailer you can stand and sleep in at light weight. Basically a glorified cargo trailer I guess is what I want lol
Everyone is an engineer
Even engineers.
look into. THE VEGA 2.0 XT, Cedar Ridge Campers.
They are nice trailers indeed. I have seen a few of them at Overland Expos and they look like a quality built trailer.
@@FreysOnTheSide Yes, they are 😊. I'm having a hard time choosing one? From Cedar Ridge Camper or vistabule teardrop one?. So many many amazing teardrop models out there 🙏
@@Bluesky1ification I’d say having too many teardrops in the market might be a good problem to have. Keep doing to your research and learn what trailer will best fits your needs. Each will have their pros and cons based on your style of camping.
Saw this at Overland East. My wife and I have definitely been interested in this.
That's awesome! One of these years, I need to make it a priority to travel to one of the Overland Expos. All are a bit of a commute to get there, so it would be nice if there is a trip planned around it as well.
Cool design but... having the axle that far back if you did put a small motorcycle on the front the tongue weight will be massive. Even without anything on the tongue the weight on the ball is high.
Absolutely! As Todd mentioned in the video, he works with the client and discusses what their goals/typical load will be. They adjust the axle location and where other systems are places, like batteries and water to balance the load over the axle, maintaining appropriate tongue weight. TC has a long track record of designing trailers to hold dual sport motorbikes , scooters, electric bikes on the front platform, even a Ural with side cart on a tandem trailer called the ISO.
Great review. I think you really nailed it - no trailer is perfect, it’s all about tradeoffs. It was great seeing this in person; it truly is a great camper that can’t be beat for the price! Todd & Carol are great people that care about and listen to their customers. We love our 5x10 ORE.
Thanks Craig! Todd and Carol are truly great people! I think this trailer will provide a great solution for many adventure spirits, but for us, it's tough to beat models like the ORE or AE.
Todd and Carol are the best. One of the good ones out there!
They really are! It’s been a pleasure getting to know them over the years and seeing first hand how awesome they are and amazing they treat their customers.
I'm very interested. This is exactly what my wife and I were looking for in a trailer.
That’s awesome! I am glad I was able to help showcase TC and put you on the trail to a new trailer. Keep us posted if you end up purchasing one of these trailers!
Very cool trailer.
Absolutely! It’s cool seeing innovation based on platforms that have been proven successful.
What are the bed dimensions?
I believe it is a queen bed. 60in x 80in. But I would have to confirm with TC.
@@FreysOnTheSide you are close! Just shy of a queen, 58in x 78in
Hey great video? Are you considering changing models?
Thank you. Currently we are not considering moving to the Terrain. It’s a great model option for many, but doesn’t necessarily fit our current camping needs.
Which size is this? Thanks for the tour
5x10 ORE
Thanks- I met the owners today at overland East and am seriously considering one now. Thanks for the video
Todd and Carol are amazing people. Their customer service is second to none, hands down. When you buy a TC you will find a great support family/community.
If my shirt comes with a pack of Oreos, I will be stoked 💯!!
Hahah. I wish I could make that happen.
I couldn't agree more with the benefits of being outdoors.
Challenge accepted…👋👍
Awesome! Let’s gooooo!!!!!! How have y’all been?! Hope all is well.
We’re managing the rough seas of life! Thankfully, we are committed to getting away from those stresses more now than ever before! We have just made three new purchases: Bluetti AC180, FSR 6XL hub tent, & Tembo Tusk skottle! We are also adding more storage to our Rubicon…Hope y’all are doing well and would love to see y’all on the trail somewhere! Thanks for the video!!
Now I want one. Am looking at the adventure edition, what options did you get?
Good questions and honestly has changed a bit with the current offerings. I think the AE model is very solid and frankly there are a few options we requested on our build that are incorporated in the AE build. If I were going to buy another one, I would pick the following options. AE model. Blackout - personal preference. Roof rack or platform, depending on what you envision you might carry, but defiantly on of them to support an awning. 60" Tool box. Extension, if you want to haul your bikes or have additional storage. I am not sure I would have it, but I know its good for a lot of people. Ploy Mattress Reading Lights Battery Plus Package. At minimum include solar charging. Plug in Galley for 12v Fridge 270 Awning Dometic Fridge Water Propane And if you do put in an order, be sure to tell them Frey's On The Side sent you. They will take good care of you.
@@FreysOnTheSide Thanks.
I wish I could rewind time 10 years to when my son was eight, I’d be more consistent.
I live camping because of the peace of mind I get. Unfortunately, my wife and son not so much. So, I’m torn to go solo, or not go, which , 95% of the time ends up being the latter.😔
Over the years we certainly have fell in love with the outdoors. Luckily we did a lot of camping with our kids at a really young age and created a family brand around it, which they still love getting outside for adventure. I’ll admit though, as they grow it’s become harder and harder for us to get out as a family. Interest have change and there are more family obligations. That said, we still very much love adventuring together when we can find a spare weekend.
Nice shirts, nice design, and choice of colors. K.I.S.S👍🏾
Thanks for the positive feedback. We are really excited to have these shirt available to the community.
I love your adventures and videos. We are considering a Teardrop trailer too and wondering if KOA or other RV parks allow you to stay at tent camping sites with teardrop trailers + rooftop tents.. I would hate to be sandwich in between huge RVs at those parks
Good questions. I can’t speak for all campgrounds, but in my experience the “tent” sites only have enough space to park one or two vehicles. Then there is a barricade (curb, rocks, etc) that protects the tent pad. So you may have space for your teardrop and tow vehicle in front of the barrier, but it might be inconvenient. We love dispersed camp to avoid the crowd but do enjoy a campground time to time. Traveling across the county with no plan, we often have to be flexible where we end up. Let me know if you have any other questions on camping, teardrops or other.
@@FreysOnTheSide thanks for the info. My intention is to camp at state parks and national parks ... ( we don't have many dispersed camp site out in eastern Canada but do want to go into RV parks like KOA to reset and do laundry during long trips.
I don't know if I can do a thousand, but I'll accept the challenge of getting out more this year. A thousand didn't sound like much until you broke it down and said it was 3 hours a day 😂
That's awesome Drew. I looked at this challenge in a very similar way and use the goal as a motivator to get outdoors more. Similar to the 10,000 step counter. That said, not to take the eye off the end goal, but even if you fail the 1000 hours and spend more time outdoors, it's a win.
Matt, it will get better. We are now on the other end of the stick. Daughter joined the military and is off to college and, son is finishing football and ready to move on to the working world. This will be the last summer we are limited due to other activities. We went to Yellowstone this year as a family, possibly the last family trip but also the best! Now it will be mostly the wife and I venturing about.
Thanks for the words of encouragement and perspective of your kids growing up. It definitely makes me appreciate all the moments we spend together. As the kids have grown, our set-up have changed, but the joy of being outdoors together is still so much fun. Visiting the National Parks is high on my list and would love to continue to check off parks. Yellowstone is awesome and defiantly will be back again. High on my list is the Grand Canyon.
Awesome channel
Thank you!
Amen to that! Well sound my friend.
Thanks Drew! Being a father is an amazing experience, but it certainly does not come without its challenges. Being flexible, patient and loving has shown great success on many aspects, but certainly has helped while out camping with the family.
Love this! A few years ago, we started doing what we've coined "Call Out" trips. At any time, anyone in the car can change the trip by calling out what we do next, where we stop, and what we do. We just pick a general route/location and we may make it or not to the destination but each person gets to craft the adventure. We've stopped to eat an early lunch at a beach, shoot photos of roadkill that was "interesting" to our little scientist, and collected metric tons of rocks. Yes, as the dad, I experience some annoyance but the memories are what we still talk about whereas some of my favorite scheduled trips are not on the hit list.
I will definitely be adopting "Call Out" trips in this family. Love this Mark.
@@PlayingwithSticks It's fun but it requires everyone to be a bit forgiving and flexible. Good lessons all around.
Thanks Dude! Appreciate your feedback and for sparking a conversation. Personally, when the entire family is feeding on "spontaneous" we find ourself having the BEST experiences. I love your insight and certainly is an idea to expand upon with our family.
For sure bro… 5 yrs on the road, traveling has taught me so much.
Great to hear from y'all. Hope all is well!
As a free range human (a person with no kids, lol) and a freelancer, I am especially blessed to be able to work wherever I choose. I have camped a TON this year, and am loving it! Miss you guys, tho....a lot.
Living the dream! Miss you too! KOAR looked amazing as always.
@@FreysOnTheSide quite a few asked where you were!
Yes. It’s been a rough couple years. Looking forward to Fall camping. Do you still have your TCTD?
Indeed. Fall camping is the best! We no longer have our TC, but are still very much teardrop fans. Right now we are just in the rooftop tent, but at some point we will get another TC or Travel Trailer. It has been a learning curve as the kiddos have grown.
@@FreysOnTheSide It is a huge learning curve. I have always camped as a kid and loved it. When I had my own family I knew I wanted to camp, we started out with tents just the wife and I, after the kids were born we got a travel trailer to control the atmosphere. As the kids grew we slowly moved back into the tenting world. The kids, now and when they were in their teens, wanted nothing to do with a trailer, they love to have tents and be on their own so, the wife and I got a TC. We have never fall or winter camped but that is something I am looking forward to do since our schedules have slowly started to open up.
@Yaesucurt What a great perspective and insight. We are still looking to figure out what system will be best for us next, but can envision our path very similar to yours. For me, the "lighthouse beacon" is spending time together outdoors together. Now as an insider for a person that post content on RUclips, this separates the audience and is difficult to build a community when systems are changing, but end of the day family first.
Awnings are the worst. I wouldn't bother with that crap. No matter how well you set them and tie them the wind always destroys them at the highest pressures. They rip and the arms eventually snap or bend depending on the type. I've learned it's best just to invest in a good big hat and when you can park under something that'll do the job naturally 👍
Great insight on awnings. They certainly have there pros and cons. Maybe I can find a hat that will cover the entire family.
Thanks for sharing, I enjoyed it.
You are welcome. Thanks for taking the time to drop a comment. Stay safe out there and stay hungry for adventure.
We got your jeep fool
Really? Small world… That’s awesome. Be sure take it on a few adventures time to time. Hope it helps open the door for exploring the great outdoors, as it did for us.
Thanks for the tips
You are welcome!
WI guy here looking to get MORE into camping... Already saw your video on the 7mile plane crash. Anywhere else you recommend? I'll be based out of the Appleton area!
Wisconsin offers a great array of camping from campgrounds to National Forest. We love the State Parks system in Wisconsin. Around Appleton there is Hartman Creek, High Cliff and Peninsula. Peninsula being one of our favorites.
Yes the struggle is real. New jobs over here which creates additional challenges. I remember little league took up so much time years ago. Whenever Frey's get out there - we will be watching.
There certainly is a lot of "life" in life and carving out time for the great outdoors can be challenging, but we still very much appreciate our time together. Thanks for watching and the continued support our community.
I did the same thing in Sidnaw and gas was north of $5/gal around this time last year. The lady running the place said there was cheaper gas 6 miles one direction or 30 the other direction, their fuel is 91 no ethanol thus the price. If you look in the crapper you will see my sticker on the mirror next to all the snowmobile club stickers haha
Nice! I did use the facilities and noticed a great deal of stickers posted everywhere. Defiantly a cool location to visit and the premium gas had the Jeep running like a top. Thanks for stopping in and dropping a comments. Stay hungry for adventure.
@@FreysOnTheSide always hungry, just can’t get enough pto to satisfy said hunger
Anybody else struggle to get out camping this summer?! For us it has been crazy and certainly more difficult as the kiddos have grown. Or are we the only ones…? Let’s hear it. What was the highlight trip of your summer? Where did you go, what did you see? Why we don't camp anymore...or at least not as much as we used to.
Hey good video, 👍 what about the difference of price which one is more expensive
Good questions. Generally speaking the TC is cheaper than the NuCamp T@G. Prices vary, whether used, new or the options selected with the TC. TC has a really nice "build your trailer" online that pulls together a quote on the options that best fit your needs.
@@FreysOnTheSide oh, thanks for the answer .
Is the bed king or queen? Can you get camper with Air-conditioning?
The bed is 5 feet wide and the length is custom but can be made over 6’ if desired. Air conditioning is not an option direct from TC, but they can accommodate several after market designs.
Thank you!
You’re welcome.
I added one to my build!
Great choice!
Excellent video, bud! Wished we could have hung out even more!
Agreed! We will definitely have to plan a trip together soon! Thanks for stopping in and saying hi!
Found your channel looking for vids on people using their teardrops made from wood off-road. I wouldn’t have what it takes to do those high passes. Whew, I had to take a breath just watching.
Thanks for stopping by and dropping a comment. It’s always interesting to hear how people stumble across our channel. There were certainly areas over the passes that I don’t think I would pull a trailer over again, but it was an amazing area to explore. As far as wood construction off-road trailers - TC Teardrop is a well constructed teardrop.
@@FreysOnTheSide what I like about TC over Hiker is that rear galley. I’m enjoying watching some other vids on your channel. Interested to see how you get along with the Tundra, but I’m sure it’ll be nothing except great. I have a Ram Power Wagon so I love seeing people do what you’re doing in big trucks.
@@That_Paul_Guy In our experience there are two places you spend majority of the time. One - inside when you sleep. Two - the galley, which arguably we spend the most time around camp. Having a easy to use galley is fundamental to teardrops. Thanks for check out some of our other videos. We honestly are a family based channel that enjoys sharing our story.
T@G are supposed to be the Best
T@Gs are a well built trailer with a great name for quality. I think the best teardrop trailer is the one that fits your needs.
For camping, is there actual campsites? Or just off the side of the trail?
There are pull-out and dead end national forest roads that could work for camp along the way. In addition, you pass several designated campgrounds.
Waaaaayyyyy tooooo looong...you won't get our support until u get it right vs just trying to maximize your return by baiting n waiting....not
