Outer Wilds NoShip% "NG+"
This is (as far as I can tell) the first loop in Outer Wilds completed without your ship leaving the landing pad. Nailing the journey from Timber Hearth to the Twins took me forever...
Thanks to Mobius Digital for making what is easily one of my favourite games of the year so far. I hope you enjoy this run!
Small addendum: I know the title implies otherwise, but my ambition was really just to manage a ship-less run at all, not to do it fast!

Outer Wilds Sun Station Landing

Took a lot of burning up in the Sun, but here's my successful attempt at manually flying to the Sun Station! ko-fi.com/medeasuki
Me vs Zero Suit Samus

The flailing my sword at the air constantly is definitely just false inputs. 100%. Hand on my heart. Absolutely not me being bad.
I DID IT I DID IT TYSM FOR THE VIDEO!
Kerbal Space Program players when they have to dock things in orbit. For real that game taught me enough about orbital mechanics that I could do this first try. 1. Get into eccentric orbit where periapse is at the same altitude as sun station, and apopapse is at a higher altitude. 2. Wait for sun station intercept at periapse. 3. Perform retrograde burn and circularise orbit so you are matched with the sun station. 4. Perform minor corrections to close intercept distance and enter sun station.
If you want to adjust the elliptical orbit so taht it intercepts the sun station, you can speed up or slow down at periapse (the low point) to adjust the period of your orbit to catch up or slow down to meet the sun station. If you are ahead of the station, increase your speed at periapse to increase size of orbit and increase orbital period so you reach periapse at a later time. If you are behind the station, slow down at periapse to reduce size of orbital and decrease orbital period so you reach periapse sooner. This will help you intercept the sun station.
This challenge is so disgusting, it just ruined the game for me. I have spent more time trying this than doing the rest of the game. What design philosophy is this?
You don't have to do it. You get nothing in-game for doing it, and learn nothing by doing it. It's a thing people can do if they enjoy the challenge of doing it. If you don't, then just don't do it. You understand you don't have to do things you don't want to do, right?
Ok, Icarus.
Pye would be proud
I had a hardest moment trying to hop out without being thrown away by the gravity of the sun than getting there with the ship thanks for the strat
most frustrating thing in this game
uhhh... captain...the ships gone
Excuse me while I try to do this while listening to the Interstellar docking scene soundtrack
The closest I have ever gotten was me crashing into it which damaged my ship so badly I crashed into the sun. 😢
When "No Time for Caution" comes on.
Had to come here to check this was even possible as atrioc makes attempt number 15
Lmao no way. I’m going thru the vods for this now and I’m at this part where he’s just plowing head first into it every time, doesn’t try to line his ship up with the sun station or anything. Goes in on the craziest angle and is like fuck it😂😂
@@murky16 oh my friend buckle in for a few hours, it was hilarious, enjoy
How do you get out of the ship once it's matching velocity with the sun station? Anytime i get close enough to match velocity, when i unbuckle, i just fly to the wall and can't move.
Right before you unbuckle, you have to make ur ship go up and in the couple seconds that it starts going up and away from the sun, that’s when you unbuckle and make a beeline for the hatch😂😂 Watch at 1:25 you see how he does it. That’s why he took a little bit setting his ship up really low compared to where the opening is so he could give himself some room to boost his ship up😅
@murky16 I actually ended up getting this achievement by hitting the eject button right at the door of the sun station Lmao, thanks for the advice though!
Аааа надо немного дать газу вверх, что бы не мучала гравитация в кабине
Cool! Now do that and get back in your ship!
i try to do the same and coulndt get out of my ship ,
Dude if i do that my ship just wont even escape the Gravity wtf
Thanks a lot. I got to the point where I could get to the sun station regularly but couldn't figure out how to make the traverse from my chair to the hatch to the station without getting bashed around my ship, sucked into the sun, or flung into space. Your setup worked perfectly and I got it after a few tries. Those 20 seconds of floating towards the door and hoping I wasn't going to screw it up was so tense, I was so pumped when I made it.
"what are you doing?" "docking"
It's the kind of thing that's incredibly tricky to pull off, but where a successful attempt usually looks simple. It's right there *perfectly* in line for you to blast there immediately when you wake up, (maybe as a deliberate 'dare' to get you to try it), but you need a near-perfect approach depth and velocity or you're getting sucked in or slingshotted
22:31 imagine dying here
I landed on it, but as i exited my ship i got blown out into space for some reason, i was not happy with that...
Wow
I saw you video, I got in my spaceship, flew to the sun, did exactly what you did but without the slow down part and smashed right to the sun station got out of my ship in time, not from the exit but from the window and got inside the station. I didnt even know tha you could smash the window and live after that but it was cool that i managed to survive.
I landed at the sun station on something that I thought was a landing platform and it took me two hours. I was disappointed to find out it has no gravity and my ship and I just got yeeted out of it the next second.
Watching this was very intense. I don’t like being that close to a Star
been trying for hours, this is in fact impossible
But.. he used a ship haha. He can launch himself on the launchpad without the nomai ship. Like most of us I don't so well with those ships so no hate haha .... but a ship was used
absolute madman
I love how you look at how far the sip has gone at the end

thanks man, this task seemed so difficulty, but yet... it's acutally pretty simple, another trophy earned, thanks again!
"Who's been computing shuttle trajectories to the Sun Station? Don't worry : the station is in such a low stellar orbit , we've constructed a different , safer way to travel there from Ash Twin"
Is it different on Xbox? On PS4 as soon as you unbuckle it pins you to the wall of the ship. I can get the ship in place no problem, I just can't get out of it! I tried ejecting but it's very hard to control and I always end up getting knocked off course by my empty cockpit.
No time for caution.
Great skills ✨️
Actually using a Nomai ship
Bro this was so impressive, you were so CLOSE to the sun surface damn ! You didn't even used the.. hum, idk the name in english but the auto-target thingy to auto follow an object with the same speed, you get what I'm saying.
Most frustrating moment failing to land on this fucking thing
Me after watching this video: *proceeds to land first try*
Nice job my guy. I don't think I'll ever get it and the physics of the sun seem to shift depending on how close I get. I think I just won't play this game anymore, I think I hate it and think it's awful.
Here's a tip: If you're using the keyboard, change the bindings so the right mouse button is used to roll, instead of the R key. (You have to change the scout launcher to use the keyboard if you do this.) This gives you much better control, because it allows you to roll independent of lateral movement.
Now do it with a Nomai shuttle and the gravity cannon 😉
That’s basically how I got there too. Except I was in a higher orbit and let the station catch up to me. I had no idea there was a “proper” way to do it until I watched playthroughs years later.
Really wish I had known you could just sorta... get out of the ship normally. I positioned the ship directly in front of the opening, gingerly boosting in various directions to keep orientation and position, before hitting the ejection button as quickly as possible (not fun on a controller), then as the cockpit wedges itself in the hallway scrambling out like a maniac before it slowly slides out and careening in fiery oblivion. But yeah, I guess just getting out works too...
While recently attempting to fly to the sun station, I once achieved a stable orbit using just the jet pack, so close to the sun that it ended up roasting the Hatchling like a marshmallow.
I did this on my first try bc I used to think that was the only way of getting in😔
When a Outer Wilds speed runner also plays KSP
Wow. Im glad this showed up on my recommended. Amazing
