    I have a gen 2 paj (1999). I removed the ladder-frame from the body to weld it, sandblast, acidbathe, galvanize and more. I also fully restored the body, removed all rust and repainted the car in bedliner since it is more fit for offroading. I have always had difficulty understanding lifts for all type of cars. I want to use the exact same patrol springs to lift my paj, but wonder - was there anything else you had to change when lifting it like this? On the back, is the patrol springs the only lift you have done there? What lift is in the front?

    • @altuser.
      @altuser. 2 месяца назад

      Was cable-lengtheners required for the brake lines or anything else?

    • @barnbuilds25
      @barnbuilds25 2 месяца назад

      1stly, well done on doing such a good job on the restoration ! I wish I could have done that. So basically in the rear because I have kept my rear anti-roll/sway bar and then my trailing arms are limited to a certain travel, the suspension was also limited ( still stock shock absorbers ) it was just a swap out then swap back in. However I would lengthen my brake lines if I still had the car. Then on the front I ran 2 inch lift from a set of coilovers, a ball joint flip and I re indexed my torsion bars, so I was almost on a 3.5 inch lift all round, then running on 32s.

    Good day, just wanted to find out whether it's possible to remove the 4m40tdi timing gear cover without having to remove the cylinder head and messing up the head bolts torque settings.? Kindly assist please. Thanks

      Good day, yes it is possible. You will just need to take the front timing chain cover off of the motor 💪🏻

      But then what happens to the gasket on that section where the timing chain cover is

    Hi, why are you oiling head studs?

    • @barnbuilds25
      @barnbuilds25 9 месяцев назад

      It’s part of the workshop manual instructions 💪🏻 it’s also a good practice 👍🏻

      @@barnbuilds25 I haven`t found anything about oiling bolts in the service manual -11A13-4. Maybe you can tell us where you found it. Also about good practice - which is not btw, when you oiling bolts or studs of any kind (especially those that needs specific torque) you are literally changing the torque value applied by the torque wrench. These are the basics of the mechanics.

      @@medandi as you saw, I hardly put any oil on just a dap right. I’ll try find the section in the manual where it states to lube the head bolts and then send it through 💪🏻 Look at ARP studs/bolts, which all require the supplied lube to be put on before threading them in. I can almost guarantee you that most head bolts/studs require oil/grease to be applied according to the specifications. Yes it does change contact surface area, which is also why it states, can’t remember the exact torque specs but ; “ torque to 60 then to 80 and then 90 degrees “. I just followed the workshop manual, and I’ve done about 40k km towing, 4x4ing long trips etc and no problems.

      Section 11A-13-5 Sub section B ( cylinder head assembly instructions) 5(b) apply a thin coat of engine oil evenly to each part of the threaded cylinder head bolts. Tighten them to 100nm. ( I went up in increments from 60 to ensure an even torque coverage ) (C) loosen tightened head bolts in the same sequence, ( this is because the head bolts (oem) are stretch bolts ) then retighten them to 50nm in the same sequence. (D) tighten them another 1/4 or 90 degrees (E) another 1/4 or 90 degrees

    Hi there bud take your cylinder head to have it pressure tested they crack internally sometimes and you can use a straight edge to check for straightness thanks keep us posted how you go there

      This head was pressure tested, machined and the rebuilt, I re checked everything and torqued everything down too 💪🏻 I’m about 50 or 60k km since rebuild and zero issues since !
