Auxbeam Switch Install | Wrangler Rubicon 4xe
I finally found time to install the Auxbeam switch panel onto the Jeep. It was extremely easy to do. The only real challenge was finding the time to get it done.

I Tested Lasfit's All-Weather Mats for Jeep Wrangler
Просмотров 67Месяц назад
Once again, I returned to using Lasfit liners all-weather mats! Not because Lasfit was kind enough to send me a set to try out, but because I used these in the old ZR2 Colorado, and I loved them! Both times, I've had the factory all-weather mats, and each time I feel that Lasfit went a little above the OEM standard for a fraction of the price! Thr time had arrived to present to you my replacement rig! Although I miss my old diesel ZR2 Colorado, this 2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon X 4xe is just as capable, if not more, than my old rig. As it sits, it's in stock form, but over time, I will make some minor modifications and personalize it a bit. I'm not planning on making it an overbuilt jeep, but just enough to still be able to commute in ...

    I bought the hose to attach to big tank today. In case something happens will still have heat. If nothing happens i can tolerate shed out back in winter with it. Or camp with it. Thought it was a good buy. Thanks man.

    Is there a difference between 4 high and low? What if you just stayed auto? Also is the white truck a trail boss?

    I have a 4-season roof top tent and can sleep well below freezing-no problem. I use the Ozark Heater to heat my pop-up tent in the morning when it's cold. It's very cold in the desert at night, so this set-up works well for me. It heats-up quickly after sunrise. Also, sleeping up off the ground makes a big difference in comfort. Thanks for your review.

      The v6 isn't bad. For my preferences, the diesel was perfect for slow rock crawling. All the torque I needed at low RPM vs over revving a gas engine and launching after clearing an obstacle.

      If you get a chance, try swapping vehicles. It's a whole different experience, and the turn radius is insane! I had a 2019 Trail Boss Silverado (that truck started the channel) and I found that the truck was too big for some trails. I ended up downsizing to a ZR2 Colorado, and now I'm here with this vehicle. I'm pretty excited to take it on the trails! Looks like you visit places that I visit too. I hope to see you on the trails one day!

    • @thetrailoutthere
      @thetrailoutthere Месяц назад

      Good question. The reason I got this is exactly to charge my battery to run my fridge and other accessories while camping. The solar charge is enough to run my electronics throughout the day while maintaining the charge of the battery at 100%. At night, I only had the fridge plugged in, and it drained the battery (100 watt hour) to 30% ish. By the time the sun was full force, it got to 100% all over. In the past, I would travel with a heavy ice chest, and I'd have to dig through ice water to get my ingredients to cook. This eliminated that. The best part was that I could upgrade the battery and inverter to run higher powered electronics or more electronics simultaneously. It was definitely worth it for my purposes.

    Did I miss something? You got rid of the ZR2 Diesel but are considering another ZR2 Diesel? I'm looking at a Colorado Z71 Diesel and seeing alot of people not content with them.

    • @thetrailoutthere
      @thetrailoutthere Месяц назад

      The zr2 diesel I had was a 2018 and approaching 100k miles. For my purposes, diesel was awesome because of the low-end torque for slow and technical terrain, plus the added range over gasoline. If I had gotten another ZR2 Diesel, it would've been the last year they made them 2022 with lower miles and a few minor updates. I ended up going a different route, but that's a different video. If I could add a second rig, I'd still go the diesel route, even over the new ZR2.

    • @c4trousers
      @c4trousers Месяц назад

      @@thetrailoutthere that’s for the clarification. I decided to go with the diesel, picked up a 2021 with 28K miles. Going to be logging longevity along the way 👍

    Tacoma is top dog for aftermarket stuff, thats for sure, but 3rd gen Tacoma V6 is a stinker. Bad bad mpg, and gutless. 4th gen motor is just a 4cyl right breathed out to the max with a turbo. How do turbos work at low rpm 4 wheelin? How long do turbos last? Most need replacing before 100k. 2nd gen V6 was great, but your not going to find one with low miles. I just got rid of my Tacoma, and replaced it with a Silverado. Personally I love it, super happy with the change. I think its smaller than the Dodge by a bit, and way better deals than the Fords. And Chevy is willing to deal right now. Dodge should be doing deals but they are stupid and still trying to get top dollar. I landed the Silverado 5.3 V8, 4wd, with the trim I wanted for $39k. Cant beat that unless you get a Colorado again. Jeep, well forget about comfort and making the family happy.

      The silverado will always have a place in my heart. My gateway "offroad " vehicle was a Red Hot 2019 Trail Boss LT when they first came out. That's what started my channel. It was nice to have the extra cargo space, but that big ol truck didn't do well on narrow trails.

    2024 Canyon owner here. The issue has yet to be resolved. My battery was dead the next weekend after July 4th this year. It would not start when I attempted to boost and jump it. The tow truck driver was finally able to boost it, but it had no power steering so I had to have it towed to the dealer. The dealer claimed it was a bad battery. After I got the truck back I checked for updates and noticed that the last attempted update was July 4th, while we were out of town away from wifi and in a spotty cell area. My guess is the truck was attempting to update for just over a week when the battery finally died.

    It's called scalloping, or "shark finning." it happens to nobby tires drive on pavement, this happens a lot to dirt bikes if they ride pavement too much. You can kind of fix it by running your tires in the opposite direction.
