​@luxsolovoyager it depends on what you eat, possible to spend more when it comes to seafood... but no one in SG will spend that kind of budget daily on hawker street food... sgd120 for a day of hawker street food is really alot, covers lots of food... hope that does not include the durians Now that I have read the other comments, you were spending money to try as many different food as you can but not finishing them. Your caption is probably a little misleading. Some viewers might think that they need to spend so much on hawker street food in a day.

A local friend told to go to Newton. Have been to other hawker centres in the past. Maybe that is why she told me to go there.

No one is scrying. I asked for spicy duck noodles and that was not spicy. That's all.

Duck noodles do not come with thai chillies as standard, and if your only gripe is they weren't spicy enough, bring your own

Singapore and asian cuisine do not have a ghost pepper/super spicy as standard,😂

True about the service in Hawker centres. Some vendors were just trying to upsell. I personally don't mind. These are hard working people so I don't mind paying a bit more since I can afford it. I would leave them a tip anyway. The Durian in Singapore was way creamier and more tasty indeed. The Hermes guy was a driver from a 5 star hotel not a guide. I just told him I wanted to try the best durian available in town. Have no clue how to spot a good durian, you probably know more than me :)

@@luxsolovoyager Less than 5min unless it's huge? A lot of people do it badly. No flow,hard to get a sense of layout. So far I've only come across a Japanese channel who went the extra mile in doing up a floor plan. My 2 cents.

Did you know people in Gaza, Philippines, and some other parts of the world, Children don't have enough food to eat, and you just waste food.

The durian I left over for example, I gave it away to someone who wanted it.

Yeah if you are on a budget hawker centres are a good option. I went there because I like the concept and you can understand the Singaporean culture better both in terms of food and people.

@@RonLarhz gotcha! I did try chili crab just not there. you will see it in another short video published previously. really liked it. although, I managed to spill the sauce all over my tshirt hahaha!

@@luxsolovoyager Hehe, that's a trophy unlock moment with the sauce. 🤭🤭🤭 I love it but idk how to cook the sauce. Goes well with prawns too. Since you're not on budget, do try various traditional snacks like nonya kuehs, putu mayam, putu piring, soon kueh, rojak etc I seldom buy them anymore because they're now like almost 2bucks a piece for bite size worth. Handmade ones are more expensive. Cripsy Portuguese eggtart is imported but is one of my fav snack.

Loved the fish porridge but not the fish ball soup. In general, I like the fish ball soup, I just didn't like the particular one and the vendor I wanted to try was closed at the time.

Had been to Lau Pa Sat and one more (don't remember the name) back in 2014. Some local friend told me that since the Lau Pa Sat renovation the best vendors moved to Newton Food Centre and I had never tried it so I decided to do this video there.

Hah ha, to the Singaporean you are probably too young to know this was a neighbourhood hawker centre. The original stalls are still there.

@@Adscam I liked it in any case and would recommend to any tourist to visit it.

Eating street food really helps a foreigner to understand a county's culture better plus you get to interact with locals this way

But i doubt they actually bbq it. Came out too fast? Hard to find stalls who actually bbq it now. Mostly just fry it?

@@RonLarhz its usually just teppanyaki style~ bbq seafood is kinda misleading i know...

@@RonLarhz the waiting time was way longer than what is shown in the video. I cut it out in editing because nothing was happening while I was waiting. Whether they actually bbq it is a good question.

Singaporeans are not all rich, the wealthy ones will not go to hawker centres. Average and lower income go is correct
