It's well established he loves you/tav but it's growing to an abusive possessive love because of his new found vampirism

The way he says I love you is different from how he says the other lines. His face, hand gestures and even his eyes seem to be saying he may actually have fallen for you when he says he loves you and the flirty recovery changes again when he realizes he may not get another bite at the apple so to speak. It is like when you are at the circus love test. He wants you to know him but he also wants to avoid being vulnerable because the last person he trusted violated that trust and abused him in every way possible. So he fears his budding feelings. He wants you to trust him and he wants desperately to trust you but just like he forgot what his original eye color was, he forgot how to trust and love but desperately wants it.

Ascended Astarion will awlays be the worse ending for him to me. Some of yall really need to take a psychology class

As i said multiple times watch/play original Katlach story and go with ascended astarion and seenfir yourself how less of a person you are to him after ascension. If you like evil playthrou and give a damn about emotion than AA is perfect for you but telling that he is in love (while DnD lore say true vamp can't feel love lol) is stupid:d

I just got the game and plan on doing a durge playthrough...but i cant decide between him or minthara for when i get there

He’s perfect until he strangles the durge in the romance scenes & makes them look inept.We are the heir to the bhaal temple the litteral spawn of the murdur god & now we look like fools.We kneeled to a mere vampire do you think that he would forget that.That the lord of murdur would forget that his son kneeled to an inferior mage crafted existence

AA is heavily traumatized but the Spawn version should be too, the problem is trying to pass spawn as healthy the day after cazador's demise, not ascending solved all my trauma thanks, I'm happy now. Both versions would need years to start resolving this feelings. When they give players those two finales = spawn is pretty much doomed forever but happy somehow x ascended is masking his feelings, possessive, suddenly into bdsm? and corrupted by power, it's an unfair comparison

Alfira was sweet and all but I didn'tfeel bad for killing her, even though my durge has so far spared the next two butler targets. The cloak is a fair trade for a nice bard I met once, lol.

I did the first options accidently the first time, of course had to reload, but I understand his behavior. You ask what he needs and then refuse to help him, like everyone else he's ever asked in the past. The one time he thought someone was going to help him and he trusts (and maybe loves them) they turn on him and refuse to help at all. You also don't even help him see the good in himself, just flat out refuse to do anything for him.

I used save editors to force-trigger this scene right before the kill. Was able to continue the Urge questline, and Alfira still showed up in later chapters.

Tbh I never saw these scenes as true love like yes he’s nice and he cares for you you can tell but it just felt wrong like he thought he was better then me

He doesn't if you breakup before refusing to be turned and wait a day and talk to him again and say he doesn't know what love is anymore or something like that he explains how he sees love, its very very twisted and he says he would've just used you until he was satisfied and he respects you for saying no and that was your best option 😂, not just he becomes a full vampire that in dnd are all evil he is an full vampire after q demonic transformation 😂 he doesn't have any good left in him you would just be a puppet he becomes way worse than cazador

Ascended Astarion is typical low humanity vampire from WoD. He of course loves Tav/Durge, but in a dark/twisted way.

It’s interesting to see people arguing over “no he’s toxic and it’s a bad relationship” and “no he loves Tav” Those things aren’t mutually exclusive. They can BOTH be true and even at the same time as eachother. People who engage in toxic or abusive behaviour are capable of love, they just aren’t necessarily capable of creating or maintaining healthy relationships because of their toxic choices and personality

So when Astarion kills Cazador why doesnt he drink some of his blood? I mean he stabs him a bazillion times surely he can just lick the knife and boom no longer a spawn without having to ascend.

He actually tells you he loves you, the same night he turns you into a vampire. Right before it happens, you have to select the option: “After everything you went through with Cazador, you’re going to make me a spawn?”

Tav replies in the epilogue “No one dares touch us, my love”. Though Astarion doesn't mind a good fight and a bit of chaos, as always ХD Love the vibes of this evil couple of ally-lovers <3

I think that was the last of AA's good and morality. That last bit kept your from blindly becoming his slave and trapping you like he was but he sill continues the cycle of abuse.

im playing DarkUrge as a Ash skintoned Githyanki with A lavender and Grey flame eye lol 😂 the when the butler brings up the breeding line im like how is this still a line 😂 how am i bred? can someone explaine to me im certain im missing some lore knowledge here or i really just F'd up the mpc's 😂

Yes, he loves Tav, but Ascended Astarion and his relationship with Tav isn’t about what her or not there is still love. It’s control over the love that’s there. It’s still canonically Astarion’s bad ending due to it not being what he really wants or desires. He wanted freedom to choose who he wanted to be and what he wanted to do. He wants the power and freedom over his own personage, being with Tav on equal footing and Tav showing him care in who he is as a person shows him that he has someone who loves him for him, not what he was created to be. So given the choice to ascend and Tav allows him to ascend, and he goes through with it, all of that love and care was not there. That equal footing was not there within the relationship. All that was there was hunger for power and now that Astarion has it, he will not let Tav go. He’s continuing the cycle of abuse he’s gone through before meeting Tav even if he’s going about it in a different way. Ascended Astarion means you didn’t listen to his wants and desires and you only saw him as an object, so in turn he turns Tav into his possession so that they must obey him no matter what.

I always wanted to kill this beak nosed freak since the frist time i saw him. I just hope a modder out there grants me that wish! Cespenar from BG2 was a better butler, upgrading your gear and providing comic relief with his silly voice and warped insight. But with this brown noser, only makes me want to kill him instead.

I understand that I don't see the difference in vampiric and human love so far (I've only played BG3 so far and slowly introduce myself to the D&D lore and mechanics through videos). I mean, there are words like "obsession", "posession" etc. coming from many people while they define vampiric love without concrete behavioural examples (like scenes from life) of it and without these examples the words sound a bit meaningless for me, at least in case of AAsterion/Tav relationship one can see in the game. To be clear, "posessive" means for me situations when a person goes on their partner like "don't go to your friends, you have me", "talk only to me", "why are you looking at them, when you have me?", "why have it taken so long for you to talk to them, when I'm here?". Do we get phrases like that from AAstarion? No, never, actually. He doesn't mind Tav going to the reunion party, he wishes even to host it, he encourages her to go and have fun with friends without him. Apart from that, he even doesn't mind an affair with Halsin (which is a bit too libertine for my liking, but never the less)! Where is here this extreme scarry posessivenes many people are talking about? I suppose, the people are a bit neurotic, because a posessive person will never even let somebody glimps in another direction without an immediate reaction least being ok with an affair. Concerning "obsessive", it means for me situations, when a person goes like "I can think only of you and nothing else at all in my life concerns me or is interresting to me", "I don't want to go out, meet anybody, have friends or fun when I'm with you", "why shall I have plans for life? I can't think about my life, I can think only about yours and about you", "I don't have hobbies and interest apart from you", "I can't see where I end and you begin", "your things are my things" etc. None of it applies for Astarion either. He wants to conquer the world, so he has a plan for his life (moralisations aside, it is a goal in life, like making carreer), he wants to travel and taste "everything Fayerun has to offer", so he clearly takes interest in life overall. He always talks about having fun and is very enthusiastic about things he conciders fun, so he's not at all limiting himself to the fun of Tav, he wants fun for him self from sources iutside of their relationship. He says that he has it all, talks about his powers, about his plans and not non-stop about Tav. All he wants is just to share all his gifts with a person he cherishes and feels being gifted with. He diesn't loose himself in Tav, one can even break up with him and you won't see him followinv you in the game or sending minions after you. So, from my point of view, one can cross out "obsessive" part from the AAstarion/Tav relationship too. What are we left with? I guess it's just love as it is. Love of a powerful person towards the less powerful one. The only issue here is definitely power imbalance, which can be evened out when Tav is made true vampire by Astarion (or bride/groom as people here mention), and the relationship is perfectly normal with a bit of kinky spice to save things from turning dull. That's it.
