Pew Research Center has historically been a good source to get new information and analyses on the generations. They are making some changes in regards to how they cover the generations and other related topics so this was something I needed to cover! This could signal bigger changes and could influence content on this channel down the line as well. In this video I talk about what Pew Research ...
37 TV Characters Who Were Under 35!

We’re just a few years from the last Millennials turning 30 and currently about half of Millennials are 35 so here are some TV characters who were under 35 who might surprise Millennials in particular. All of these shows had at least one year on air between 1985-2005 and were under 35 at least at the beginning of the show. When I could, I went off of the character’s age, but when that wasn’t av...

I was born the last week of December 1976, which is practically 1977, so I relate to Xennials more than I do Gen X or Millennials.
I was born in ‘97 and Im still struggling to figure out who and what tf I am.
I was born in 95, I remember having VHS and playing consoles like the Ps2, Gamecube, GBA a lot as a kid when I was in elementary school, I played the Wii, PS3, and Xbox 360 in middle school though my first 2 years of high school but by my 2nd or 3rd year of high school, smartphones and social media were starting to become popular at school but it didn't went mainstream until a couple of months before I graduated HS or by my first year of college.
Interesting, never knew that about Madison. Some things are more recent than we thought!
Yes, I found that interesting too!
I’m surprised Luke didn’t get an uptick due to Star Wars in the 70s and 80s
I’m 25 so I have no advice on turning 30
13:37 and even then, Jason wasn’t a central focus until the sequel a year later
Ah interesting, makes sense and it had some lasting popularity
4:12 I was just about to comment saying that it wouldn’t surprise me if that was the case. The decline probably was coincidental. The book came out in 1900 though, so that may have contributed to it.
Ahh okay that makes sense
One of my mom’s best friends is a Mary
My husband was born 1979 and i was born in '84. I know technically I'm not a xennial but identify with a lot of the experiences. My older sisters are gen x and im married to a gen x. I like the term "geriatric millenial" lol.
Makes sense and yes, I like that one too! Certainly fits here
Charles Curtis was the first person of color as VP.
Born in 1997. I was in preschool in 1999 I lived through Y2K I remember being dismissed from pre k early in 2001 because of 9/11. I was in middle school in the 2000s high school in the early 2010s and became an adult in the mid 2010s still under Obama’s term. And to the point about social media well Snapchat and IG didn’t reach its peak until the late 2010s 1997 was already out of school and adults in society wayyy before the TikTok /covid era. Yes social media in the 2000s existed but the only active one was MySpace and as far as facebook that was older ppl socializing. As kids we were outside at parks, skating rinks, etc in the 2000s early 2010s.
Lol this explains why my grandpa (1934-2011 RIP) didn't talk much
Sorry about your grandpa, hopefully you still got to know him a little bit
Born in 81. Remember watching the Berlin Wall coming down on the news.
Thanks for sharing!
I was born in the mid 90s and this video accurately describes my experience and the things I can relate to. I always felt kind of in between generations, not being able to fully relate to any of them. The fact that I have younger siblings and cousins with whom I used to play often when I was a child made me feel closer to Gen Z and have a more similar mindset to them. On the other hand, some of my experiences are more similar to those of the Millennials, such as not having a smartphone from a very young age, playing outside, watching 'older' cartoons, knowing what tape cassettes are, etc. Regarding to what you presented in the video: I can agree that High School Musical was huge when I was growing up and I was a fan of it. I also watched and liked Hannah Montana, the Life with Zack and Cody and other Disney series. The vampire-themed books and movies were also extremely popular. As for fashion and aesthetics, emo was in trend. In terms of social media, I started from MySpace and some local SNS which was very popular back then (I'm not from the US and another SNS was popular in my region when I was a young teen). I also remember using Yahoo Messenger and MSN, and then moving to Facebook, Instagram, etc. Recently I'm on Tiktok too thanks to my younger siblings. I have very vague memories of the 9/11 (the news was broadcasted in my country, but I had no idea what was going on and couldn't understand why people were so worried), the 2007-2008 crisis affected my household but it was my parents who took the hit (I was in middle school, too young to have a job, too young to deal with the household finances and too young to fully comprehend why suddenly no one had money anymore), and I entered the job market in the same year when 2016 elections took place. In my case, I decided to go back to school in my mid-20s and experienced studying online during the pandemic, so I can relate to Zoomers in that aspect too. Your video is very well documented. Thank you for making and posting it!
I'm a 96' baby, and I can relate to as early as a 99' or 2000 baby. But I can also relate to a 92' or a 93' baby.
My parents were born in 1938 and 1939 and the were the loudest, ballsiest and most aggravating people you'd ever want to meet. They were the sort or people that would survive a nuclear war and rebuild society from scratch. Quiet is the last word I would ever use to describe them.
Love that! It's good to have a mix of people in the world. The name silent does seem a bit of a misnomer for some people from this generation, I think especially those in the late 30s through 40s. If we further divided it and characterized generations I'm curious how that would look.
The sure thing is another classic .
Never heard of it! Fun learning experience to find the defining movies for others, hoping I can do other generations too
@@TheGenerations1 John Cusack movie from 1985 ..

if you wanted to buy software for your PC, you went to stores like fry's electronics that had aisles with boxes of software. the experience of purchasing new software for your PCs was like visiting a bookstore where you read the title of the software on the side of the boxes and learn more about the software through reading the back of the boxes - no software subscriptions yet - not sure if these even exist anywhere anymore?
ahh yeah, quite different!
I'm 22 born in 2002 and I often find myself in the weird middle. I wouldn't necessarily identify myself a zillenial, but as an 'older' gen-z I think in terms of perspectives and principles I think I can talk more/relate more mentally with zillenials/younger millennials. On the other hand, as an eldest daughter with two younger siblings (2005 and 2008) the three of us grew up as children playing mostly the same games, shows, and music. However, when I became a teenager I couldn't relate much with them anymore since they were still children. I feel that there are certain aspects I can relate with both zillenials and 'younger' gen-z but I do feel I relate more with people my age and ones a bit older than me (1999-2002).
That makes sense!
I'm 2002 and I LIVED THROUGH ALL OF THESE THINGS TO, AND REMEBER THEM WELL. SMARTPHONES BECAME A THING AT THE END OF ELEMERTY SCHOOL FOR ME.
If you are a zillenial this is how you see tv. Lizzy McGuire = a little older than you. Your older brother probably watched it and you saw it a bit while he watched it Zoe 101= just old enough to catch some of the series Drake and Josh = you are old enough to have watched in your early years one of your first series I Carly= this was your prime time tv show. Suite life of Zach and Cody = also prime time Hannah Montana = prime time Victorious= newer prime time Big time rush = newer prime time Phineas and ferb = newer prime time Good luck Charlie = later prime Sam and cat= new tv watched by your younger siblings Dog with a blog = new tv watched by your younger siblings
Dog with a blog 😅 didn't know that one, sounds funny!
These asinine, ignorant, and ahistorical definitions of Baby Boomer have been forced on all of us just in the last decade. Before that, "Boomers" were the young people old enough to protest and be having kids in the sixties.
The term originated in referring to the post-war baby boom.
@@TheGenerations1 Which ended by the early 50's.
I’m a millennial and if you’re able to pick up on this kind of silly shit in people’s videos, it’s time for you to go take a nice long walk.
I was born in 82. I can remember things from as far back as 1987
I was a kid for Tobey Maguire's spiderman I was a teen for Andrew Garfield's spiderman I was an adult for tom hollands spiderman
Interesting way to put it!
I was born in 1998 and I had a tv and a VCR player with lots of VHS tapes in my room (the modern equivalent would be an iPad)
Ah yea interesting to share the modern equivalent
I'm 77 years old, got my BA at UofL in Psych. and feel that are/where on point.
Thanks :)
We do also have so much sarcasm of the Gen X
Yeah, I do think that's right!
I really like these videos , because in-between generations are interesting . I mean what impact would Zalpha (2007-2013) and alphabeta(2022 to like 2029) have!?
:) It is interesting to think about! And Alphabeta is an interesting idea for a name!
Can't believe it took me 3 years to find this video.
Glad you found it now!
I was Born in 1982, Would I Be A Xennial Or A Millennial?
Both! The standard definitions would mean you are a Millennial, but you are also a cusper, therefore a Xennial :) Here is a video on Xennials: ruclips.net/video/Yl21oIAYw9k/видео.html and one on cusps: ruclips.net/video/r1mFi02o-OQ/видео.html
Just Curious, I Was Born In 1982, Would I Be A Xennial Or A Millennial?
Thank you! Would be fascinating to have a segment of each generation's psychology/mindset 😊
:)
im a xennial i was born in 82 i remember when my school would buss in computers on a school bus set up for typing class i remember. having to use MS DOS that and playing Oregon Trail and didnt get my 1st cell phone till i was in college . we were told to play outside we didnt sit on the internet all day. we were riding bikes jumping ramps and doing dumb crap that there is no record of lol. and watched transformers gen1 on top of a few other cartoons
Sounds very Xennial!
zillenial bor 1993-2001
79er here. Every generation is a nice one. Enjoy yours.
True 😀
My phone is slow enough that, if I start talking the moment I hit record, my first sentence will get cut off.
Interesting!
Basically you can remember cartoon network in its prime but was too young for 90s gangster rap until the early 2000s when you were finally 8 years old now
true
I’m 6 months away from the Xennial start date of ‘77. I never really felt that the typical Gen X characteristics succinctly described me or my outlook on life. I was a kid in the 80s when most of Gen X were teenagers and disillusioned, while I didn’t understand why I was being categorized with them. Please can I join this club instead?😂
It sounds like you would fit in :)
You Skibidi
Thanks!
96 babies are the youngest of the millennials and 97 is the eldest of zoomers. I feel like if you were born in these years ± 2 years _(so 94-to-99)_ it feels so awkward how much you relate to both generations but don’t really relate that much to later-zoomers and elder-millennials I remember 9/11 relatively well because it was emotionally scarring (I’m from NY) but I didn’t learn about Y2K until I was told about it like a decade after it happened. If you at least weren’t old enough to go to elementary school the world events might as well of happened before you were born 7:16 A lot of these make no sense lol Zillennial means you’re close to the cusp (1996/1997). Why would you include only 1 millennial year (1996) but 5 different Z years (97-2001). 94/95 are both closer to the 96 cusp than 00/01 is to the 97 cusp lol If you include 97 you have to include 96 (both are cusp years) if you include 98 you gotta include 95 (both are 1 year from their generation’s cusp) if you include 94 you gotta include 99 (both are 2 year from their generation’s cusp) If you include 93 you gotta include 2000 (both are 3 years from their generations cusp) Etc
Thanks for sharing! I agree this is especially true for those around those years. I think one reason a lot of the year interpretations skew later is Gen Z not being all adults yet. When you are in your twenties comparing yourself to a high schooler, you may feel like you relate more to older people/the previous generation. On the other hand, some may like to view Zillennials less as a cusp, but more as its own microgeneration not limited by the years of the other generations.
My son said he likes my " Old School" music like Nirvana and Soundgarden. when I hit my midlife crisis in the next few years and buy a yellow corvette and date a 23 year old i just, hope she likes Smells like teen sprit
😆
Xennials have been introduced, zennials /zillennials have been introduced. now all we need is the “ZAlpha” micro generation/cusp group!
Yes!
@@TheGenerations1 I’ve also made a video about it but will you make a video about it?
@@ZAlphagamer713 I will add it to my list! I am worried about how good a job I will do on this cusp but I can try :)
@@TheGenerations1oh yeah and if you are wondering what the dates are???, if you look up Gen Zalpha it will say 2006-2012 but if you look up Gen sigma micro-generation, it will say 2007-2013 so maybe one of these dates might help your information :)👍.
