EMAX Nanohawk X w/ Insta360 GO2 - Flying Without Yaw
A few of my first flights from last spring with the EMAX Nanohawk X and Insta360 GO2. Because of a bad gimbal in my radio at the time, all of these flights were done without yaw control!
I tried something new with this video in that I superview-ed my 4:3 DVR to 16:9. Let me know what you think in the comments!
First impressions of the quad :
* Flies very smooth
* Very quiet, makes a more pleasant low-pitched sound
* Canopy screws can come out very easily
* PH2.0 connector are not great at all for this 3" 1s class
* Not too much power, still respectable for 1s
* Carries the weight of the Insta360 GO2 very well

Converting a URUAV UZ80 into a 1s 2" toothpick. Not ideal because the motors are a little bit too small and have too low of a kv for these props, or you could say that the props are too aggressive for the motors. Some 1002/1102 motors and/or @Gemfanhobby 2015 props would probably help the flight performance. However it still flies alright and you can have a lot of fun with it, of course. It's g...

The first few test flights of this @EMAXUSA Tinyhawk 2 Freestyle and @RunCamFPV Thumb. I think they're a great combo for freestyle or more cinematic flying. There was the stock ND filter on the camera for these flights and the footage was slightly colour graded. It was not stabilized, but I'll definitely be trying it out with Gyroflow soon. Enjoy! My first few flights testing my Omnipick 3D printed toothpick frame. With a little more Betaflight filtering than with a carbon frame, this frame can fly just as smoothly. Trying SBANG in the sim - FPV Freestyle [Real Drone Simulator]
Flashed my moblite 7(only update firmware version)and now motors don't spin anymore, went back to the factory settings and still nothing.
Sorry to hear that...Hopefully you can figure out what the problem is with it. Some things to check: did you flash the correct ESC type? (S-H-90 in my case)? Are you sure the problem is coming from this? (there could be something else stopping it from arming or throttling up). You could try connecting to Betaflight or checking your OSD for any error messages. It could also be worth trying to go back to an older version that you know works. In my case I haven't tried anything newer than 0.16 but I find that to work well.
Is it normal for the FPV drone to automatically increase altitude without my will on manual mode?
No…Maybe what you’re thinking is that the drone will maintain its altitude when the throttle is centred, but each drone will have its own hover position on the throttle stick where it will maintain altitude.
wow amazing can you give settings please ❤
Not many settings changed, just manual mode, 30 degree uptilt, and default rates / expo.
Good one. Thanks, man
Thank you! Glad it was useful.

WHERE IS THE MANUEL MODE I CANT FIND
Bottom left corner
Taxas abusivas

How to play it
You can try it out on your phone with the app or you can try the full simulator by downloading from Steam. You will need an RC controller though to do that.

Is that the HD or analog tiny hawk
Analog
@@Wild_FPV how did you get your analog so good mine can’t go more than 20 feet
Make sure you’re on the right video channel on your goggles. The auto search may not find the exact frequency and this can cause that to happen. Also try unlocking the VTX which you can find out how to do online. You can up the output power and see if that helps at all. Also check the antenna on the quad for any damage.
@@Wild_FPVok thanks I’ll look into it
Great flying, thanks for doing it. I am keen to run thumbs on tinyhawks to chase Driftcars around a short track (fear of feeding them under car tyres etc) so its nice to see these demos
Cool stuff! Glad to hear this was useful and good luck with the chasing!
This man is unstoppable!!! Broken gymbals are scared of wild!
Haha that makes this sound pretty good! Those broken gimbals indeed cannot seem to stop me…nice to see you around here again AL!
Do you need any special tools to stick it on
Soldering iron for the power harness and you will probably need to 3D print a mount to fit on your quad.
I have a question. is the small screen how it actually looks on fpv goggles or the big screen because if the view is like on the big screen thats so good
Unfortunately the recording from the goggles looks like that small screen. The big screen is the footage from the Runcam Thumb camera on top of the quad. Personally I don’t find the in-goggle view being like this to be an issue as long as I’m able to get this kind of footage from the Thumb.
ohhh okay also I dont mean how it looks when you record i mean like how it looks when u put the goggles on because I dont really mind abt the rec I just want it to be nice when im flying it is that what u mean?
The view in the goggles when you’re flying is the same as the small screen in this video
Omg 😱 wowwwwwww
What googles do you use?

How do you not get vibrations in the camera?I get them in mine and I can’t find a fix!
Sorry to hear that, this camera is a little more sensitive to that than others. The most important things are having a good mount for it and having a smooth flying quad in general. Luckily for me this TH2FS flies pretty smoothly out of the box but you may need to tweak your Betaflight settings to get less vibrations to the camera. I haven’t tried any other mounts than the one I flew here but that can make a difference too for you. As a last resort you can try some stabilization in Gyroflow but it’s best to sort out the root causes of the vibrations instead. Hope this helps!
Ah okay, my THF2 flies pretty smoothly I’ve changed my mount to the black one instead of that crappy clear one so I’ll see if it’s better when I get good flying weather, also how do I gyroflow?
Good luck with that mount, hopefully it’s better. In this flight I was actually using a 3d printed mount instead of the ones that come with the Thumb, so if the black mount doesn’t work for you that’s something else you can try. Using Gyroflow takes a little more work to set up but it can be worth it for sure. Here, I only used Gyroflow for the lens correction which is already pretty great but you can also use it to stabilize. I’m not sure if this is the case with newer batches of the Thumb but in my case I had to turn on gyro data logging in thumb.conf file on the SD card. Once you’ve done that you can import your footage and the gyro data into Gyroflow and the rest is not too difficult (plenty of tutorials out there). Hopefully this helps and let me know if anything I’ve said doesn’t make sense.
@@Wild_FPV okay great thanks, I’ll look at doing that tomorrow as it’s a bit late for me right now 😂😂
@@Wild_FPV Just wondering how long does your battery’s last as mine don’t seem to last too long anymore even tho i’ve gotten knew batteries not that long ago.
That was damn near epic ! Which profile and rate setting did I select on beta flight if you don’t mind me asking ? Super awesome flying bro .
Thanks a lot 👊The rate settings I flew here were as follows : Roll > 1.00 0.70 0.60 (Max. 660) Pitch > 1.00 0.70 0.60 (Max. 660) Yaw > 1.00 0.70 0.20 (Max. 661) I’m fairly certain that these are with the “Betaflight” rate profile on Betaflight. I usually fly rates that are a bit faster than these and with a little less expo but this is what I flew for this flight. Hope this helps and thanks for the kind words!
Thank u for the info and happy flying !
Happy flying!
Sound recording really like go pro.not runcam
Thanks bro .. I'am less lost 😂😂
No problem, glad it helped 😆
What battery power did use for this drone? 2s? 1s?
By default this quad is setup to fly with 2s voltage with a special connector that uses two 1s batteries in series. Hope that helps!
@@Wild_FPV okay broo thankss
How did you mounted the runcam thumb cause the footage looks really stable
It’s just a regular 3D printed Thumb mount for the TH2FS. One thing that helps for sure with this quad is the tune, having a properly tuned quad will always make your footage look more stable.
Is everything o. The drone stock?
Yes, apart from the batteries. These were GNB HV 550s but everything else was stock.
Did you change the battery cable or is is still to battaries
Still the stock connector

You are the beast. I'm new to Acro. I'm practicing 3rd day on default settings in Acro mode. My time on this lap is 1:30 and I'm touching a lot of everything lol. Any tips to be better?
Thanks man, love to hear it! When just starting out I’d say it’s better to focus on flying smooth (and trying to not hit anything). The speed will come with time as you get used to the rates and quad. Good luck learning acro!
@@Wild_FPV Thank you for the advice. Can you post the video how you flying "Summer Playground" map?
@@tycoontrading9352 I'll see what I can do 🙂
What rates are you using for the fastest drone?
Roll : 667, 43, 100 Pitch : 667, 43, 100 Yaw : 667, 40, 70 Don't forget that rates all are personal preference though, rates that I like flying may not feel right to you. This will make sense if you look at the rate settings menu by the way.
amazing fly for a tinyhawk, how are your rates/super rates please ? I think I will put the same as you, it looks very great 👍🏼 (sorry for my english i ´m french)
Your english is great don't worry! Here are the rates I was flying here : Roll > 1.00 0.70 0.60 [Max. 660] Pitch > 1.00 0.70 0.60 [Max. 660] Yaw > 1.00 0.70 0.20 [Max. 661] Rates are all subjective though, it definitely takes a little bit of time to get a feel for what kind of settings you like. The rates I fly now might even be slightly different than what they were here. Good luck and hope this helps!
@@Wild_FPV okay thank you I will test these rates Yes it’s difficult to find the perfect pid/rates. Moreover it can change with the time so it can be difficult thank you man 🤘🏼
the worst simulator for drones, if you want to delay your learning, use virtual flight dji, you will have many problems with usb, also to remove from the image the annoying controller that you are supposed to have in your hands and then your rate will change whenever incies the app and others, a disaster.
For somebody who doesn't have a radio yet, this and the Orqa.skydive app are your only options. And if you do have a radio there's no point in using a simulator on a phone anyways. Just my opinion 🤷♂
Great vid. Crazy camera angle in the first part. Very cool though 👍
Yeah pretty crazy 😆 Didn’t have a mount yet but it worked alright for a few flights. Thanks for stopping by!
Clean clean clean
Did you mix some yaw into it? Looks good
No, no yaw at all for these flights. I had yaw mapped to a 3-position switch on my radio because of the bad gimbal. So in theory I had yaw control through that switch but in practice you just can’t fly like that. So I flew for a month or two without yaw control as you see here.
Anyone know what cable connects the Runcam to the tiny hawk? Cheers
There’s just a JST connector that plugs into the Thumb. The other ends of wires have to be soldered to 5V and GND on the FC
@@Wild_FPV thx
How is your drone so fast? I'm so slow and can't do tricks
Speed and tricks come with practice. For this simulator specifically, make sure you’re flying in manual mode and have your camera angle around 15 degrees at least.
I still can't wrap my brain around what's going on at the end flying apparently inverted around a tower and the position of the props.
That’s called a trippy spin. It’s called that for a reason! 🤣
For me, it IS not written "read setup" but "read settings" 😤
There's probably been an update to the site since I made this video but it doesn't make a big difference, everything should still work just the same for you
Sick flying pal was the thumb hard to solder to the board or are you using an external battery??
Thanks! It was soldered to the board but it wasn’t that hard to do.
I've built my own 5 inch drone so I'm sure I'd manage 😁👍
Whats the headset?
BetaFPV VR01s (not that I necessarily recommend them)
@@Wild_FPV does this help with the connection? im thinling of buying the emax tiny hawl 2 Ready to fly bundle and your head set nearly has no signal interfeerance
@@Wexfab21 These are only slightly better than the ones that come with that kit, but in general the gear that comes with RTF kits aren't great. You can usually get better value by getting your radio and goggles separately from the quad.

definitely looks like a Canadian subdivision, specifically Ontario. So the runcam thumb pro looks great... I wish you'd run it thru gyroflow
Nice guess 😆the Pro does indeed look great, unfortunately I don't have one to test at the moment.
@@Wild_FPV Not that hard to guess considering I've helped create so many subdivisions very much like yours. I almost bought a Geprc naked hero 8 until I saw how good the runcam thumb was. Thanks
how did you set everything up and wire it, the quality looks amazing and smooth.
Thanks a lot! Most of the wiring was already done from the factory, the only thing that had to be done was to wire in the Thumb’s power harness. The footage does also look smoother because it was run through Gyroflow and there was an ND filter on while flying.
