    Hello Jocelin, wow, your latest vid was 2 years ago. You must be ridin instead of uploading :) - I got to you from @Doodle on a motor cycle and wanted to thank you for being an inspiration - I just got an S1000XR. I'm 5'11", 180 lbs and I can't touch flat-footed. After watching you, my perspective has changed significantly. Hope to meet you in person if my tour(s) bring me close your neck of the US :)

      @JocelinSnow thank you. I live in a 'complicated' welsh hillside village with twists, blind bends, and ignorant car drivers. So my cruiser has and will be my safer ride taking my (now as tall as me) daughter pillion. I'm just lacking the speed and thrill of a taller bike.

    if you stop at a traffic light or something do you feel comfortable leaning over and putting your foot down?

    • @JocelinSnow
      @JocelinSnow 21 день назад

      Yes, but it’s more of a slide off the seat. If I lean the bike over to get my foot down, the lean angle is too steep by the time my foot touches, and the bike will tip over. So sliding off the seat to get a foot down while the bike is in balance works best.

      @@JocelinSnow I see. Thanks for taking out the time to respond. Seems complicated at first but I'm sure this is all just muscle memory to you at this point. I would not recommend having your side stand down at a traffic light or crossroad. While stopped at a traffic light, the one foot down and hook the seat with the other leg is best, until the light turns green.

    Just came across a fellow rider broke down on the H1 on Oahu yesterday. No tow strap, but I carry a lot of stuff, and was able to make a system using a couple wraps of 550 cord. Not perfect, but I was able to get him off the interstate and safely out of traffic. Attached from bottom of my luggage rack to both his forks. It sure made him a happy fellow.

    With loop to no loop print out how to tie a suitable knot laminate it and put it in the bag. If you bike slides down a hill and needs pulling out you will need to know how to tie it to the bike. Also consider dyneema 12 strand rope buddy tow is rated to 1800lbs 5mm Dyneema is 5070lbs 6mm is 7054lbs both cost £25 but again you would need to know how to tie a loop. lastly when you tow a car the rear car only does the braking maybe that also applies to a motorbike to aid always keeping the rope taught

    On the 'kickstand pivot turn' is it possible to turn the bike in the counter direction ie with the back of the bike moving towards you? That's the way that I've managed it and I can't seem to get it to go in the same direction as you demonstrated. Maybe I'm doing it wrong...

    In my opinion it is a question of self confidence, too. I ride an old r 100 gs PD from 89. When I rode to croatia it was very heavy because I carried too much luggage. So it was hard to get up and down for me, so it fell down. You know I pushed 110 kg on the Bench, so I am not a weak man, so I could get it up... but since it felt the first time it was in my head and so it felt 3 more times, that day...at the following night I couldn't sleep very well. But I don't know how, maybe because I talked to God, I managed to get this thought out of my head and the rest of the 10 days Holiday Trip she didn't fall anymore. I Wish you all merry xmas and a lot of adventures on your motorbikes. Take care...

    Thank you so much Jocelin. I want to say that I did not expect a response to my boot question as I figured you would be busy and probably get millions of comments. You just made my day. I am also a woman’s size 7 so I am thrilled to have this information. I recently just stumbled upon your channel and have been watching your videos. I am from BC Canada. I would love more information, if there is any, on any clinics or private lessons you offer. I know you are a long ways away for me. I have considered a local BMW course here in Victoria but wonder if I am in a group of tall men, my tips for riding as a 5’3” female will be lost. I am also nervous about attending with a group of men. Anyway, thank you so much for your tips and videos. It’s cold here now so I have my 900 Tiger GT Pro uninsured. I hope to practice your skills drills in the spring. With gratitude Natalie.

    Hey jocelin, I'm 169 cms. Would I have any problem in riding in traffic in a bike of 835mm seat height?

    • @JocelinSnow
      @JocelinSnow 11 месяцев назад

      Well first I had to get my US to metric system conversion tool out haha. You are taller than I am, so you should be able to manage any bike. 835mm seat height works out to be about 32.8” which is about what my KTM 500 dirt bike seat height is. It’s possible but depending on what your inseam is, you may find that you have to slide off the seat to get one foot down. (Dog on a fire hydrant) Your other foot may dangle above the foot peg, while you cradle the seat under your knee. It works, that’s how I ride tall bikes. Best of luck! Thanks for watching.
