Damn! Cutting off the applause in brutal fashion. He gave such an electric performance that he could’ve gotten like five more seconds of applause, but by cutting it off he said “this isn’t about my laurels, it’s about the story and the character” which makes the song all the more impactful. Need more of this in musical theatre!

As horrible as Strelnikov is, his motivations are pretty heartbreaking and there are times when I feel for him. Lara's past is what pushed him toward madness, I think, and despite wanting vengeance for her he just became cruel. And the movement he gave his soul to ended up betraying him in the end. Idk, but in my opinion Komarovsky is more than of a villain than him

I thought it was just gonna be some sappy historical romance (which it kinda is) but we got executions by hanging, shooting, and now we see partisans throwing corpses into a ravine while women cry in the background... I respect that 100% tbh. War, revolution, and cruel totalitarian regimes are the last things anyone would want to sugarcoat
