Glad you enjoyed the video. As a parent too I think we just don't have enough time to really enjoy the end game grind, so it became completely irrelevant... But that doesn't mean we can't enjoy those games!

I managed to play the original version with the CD on windows xp, 7 and 10. But I don't remember how I managed to do this as it was long ago.

@@wallasplays as a kind of hobby I look for electronics in dumpsters and curbside stuff. Think XP runs / loads normally but with 7, some file changes have to be made in order for it to run. Haven't tried it yet! Thank you

Yeah there were some tricks to made, but all worth it until Resurrected was released.

I'm sorry I have no ideas about the state of the game on PS5. On PC it seems more stable than what it was at launch though if it can help...

I am not 100% sure, but what I understand is that you must connect to your Blizzard account once in the last 30 days to play offline mode.

I had a lot of fun with it too. A nice little game!

I'm 48 and have been gaming for over 40 years. Gone are the days where gameplay was front and centred. ENJOY the game it's not all about graphics (which are really good here) and stop complaining there are only 40x hours of gameplay. Great review totally agree 👍

Might be the reason why I tend to prefer old games to newer titles...

Yeah, that is how I felt also with Diablo 4. Really powerful start, but unfortunately in the long run I did not get involved in the content… D2R is something else, even though I think that nostalgia plays a big role in its success… Happy to hear you from Brazil, that's a cool thing about youtube! I just started another game that looks promising, Last Epoch… So far it's really good!

What do you mean, you have a hard time following the quests?

The quest log will show you where to go if you read it. Otherwise, you can get what is known as a “glitch rush” you can skip everything and level up quickly, then I would suggest going back and completing it. Playing through the game normally by yourself sucks especially at the end of Act 2. Duriel, solo, is difficult even for a lot of lvl 30/40s with good gear tbh

@@wallasplays I can never find certain quest areas

I guess I am too familiar with Diablo 2 by now. But my advice would be to run on the border of the map to find most areas. This way you will eventually find a path that leads to the next area and so on. There are paths that require you to take a tunnel in order to reach the "next" area though and those can be found in the wilderness and not necessarily on the border of maps. Hope it helps. If not, what areas are you having trouble with?

It sure is small and annoying, but once you get used to what items are worth it, you'll leave a lot of useless stuff on the ground.

Definitely D2R! It's close to being a clone of the original, but with better graphics and some quality of life features. The original is getting old and graphics haven't aged well IMO...

You're much welcome! I have to say that when I tried the game, which was in the first few months, there was no real monetization and still as of today I don't see a lot of it. But I purchased the whole game at full price... Maybe it's because of that... I'll take a look at it though. Still I hate monetization in games and prefer to pay full price for a fully unlocked experience. Are you playing it for free on Xbox?

Then I doubt you'll be bothered by the microtransaction. I played it on PC and literally never thought about buying things other than the main game and most of what I see in the store is skins and appearance stuff. I don't care about taking my time to find and grind stuff too much though...

Diablo 2 sure is a masterpiece no doubt about it. I would not buy Diablo 4 at 140 $ that's for sure. They kind of screw up a bit on the multiplayer part. Feels like they tried to keep it single player friendly and multiplayer friendly at the same time, but neither of those really shine in D4... It's sad...

Your dedication is real, level 100 and 96 is no small feat. Hope you enjoyed the grind to get there.

@@wallasplays Thank you! I just want to max my characters. Their powers increases by leaps and bounds once you start using the paragon boards and glyphs. There are a couple problems though. One is the grind is boring. I just do the all the content to make my character stronger. A good item may drop but it’s rare. If I want to level up more quickly, I’ll do Nightmare Dungeons. Second, the monsters scale to your level. So you never feel like you are stronger than them since they keep up with you. I just know that my character gets stronger by looking at the stats in the game. So overall it gets boring after level 50-80. I understand that itemization is getting an overhaul in Season 4. This should make the stats on items useful instead of what we have now. It’s been confirmed by content creators. Hopefully that will keep many players interested in the game.

I feel that the main problem is probably the scaling, as everything always seems to be the same difficulty and it kills the feeling of power...

@@wallasplays Yes. So if your character is at level 100, the monsters are also level 100. Now if your character is below the monster level, it will stay at that preset level until you catch up. Then it matches your character’s level. Nightmare Dungeons are the only places where monsters can exceed your character’s level. So tier 100 Nightmare Dungeon has monsters at level 150 or something like that.

At least they make a place where monsters are higher level... Still not the best decision IMO.

I would not say complete failure, as the story was quite good, as well as the art style and atmosphere.

You could try not looking at every item drop for a while, I did this at one point and just salvage/sell everything besides uniques and enjoyed the game much more… Until I got bored again. Quests and lore are also usually good to listen to IMO, but it depends on what drives you to play a game. Seems like the experience of a lot of players unfortunately.

Leave and play Grim Dawn or Last Epoch ;3 or wait for Path of Exile 2

​@@alannielsen4099I agree that for die hard arpg fans grim dawn is better, but tbh diablo 4 just has much better graphics/gameplay and a more engaging story and vibe.

Your experience was close to mine... And having a bad item system in a loot based game was what killed Diablo 4 for me too. It's sad as the story, imo, is really good in Diablo 4.

​@@wallasplays The story was decent indeed. In my experience, that's the only thing that made me feel i at least got a bit of value out of my money. Sadly, not enough. Blizzard was murdered when activision came into the picture. Every trace of blizzard is gone so all that's left is activision. I and many people like me will never buy another product that activision had something to do with again. Even if it is just a mention in a text file somewhere. So in the end i guess it's their loss even though they wont feel it any time soon.

Things have changed a lot since Blizzard North haven't they? I still hope someday we will get an awesome and new Diablo game, but it might never happen.

@@wallasplays I hope so too. I am confident that the next game worthy of a Diablo title will be an indy game because blizzard is dead. Someone needs to pick up the pieces and create something beautiful, dark and gritty with lessons learned from successful titles.

Some have succeded in a certain way like Path of Exile, but old Diablo just have a particular soul that is hard to replicate...

I played PathofExile, didn't enjoy it. Regluar monstes in PoE all feel the same, and there so much powercreep on the character it can start to feel a bit boring and it didn't work so well as a multiplayer game. PoE currency also felt a bit tedious. To be fair PoE does have some things better such as boss fights. Playing D2 first then PoE also made me feel PoE is a bit of copycat of D2. D2 is amazingly designed in some areas, such as its simple to pick, but has depth and complexity to master, e.g itemization. PoE your confronted with with a 400 node, skill tree to plunk points into and every item hasmultiple sockets. They went overboard in some areas. To be fair, both games have flaws, but it depends if you prefer oldschool of modern arpgs. I have more hopes for PoE2

I played a lot of PoE personally, but I need to admit that I felt overwhelmed most of the time. I think it is a very very good game though, but it requires much more knowledge of the game itself, items and such to appreciate it as Diablo 2 is easier to get a quick grasp of and enjoy for more “casual” gamers. I grew up with Diablo 2 so nostalgia is a thing too.😂

D2 still beats them all, and I say that as someone who played PoE from the 1.0 release until about a year ago. Powercreep and too many added mechanics and systems completely turned me off from PoE. D2R is amazing - because they didn't change anything that made it a success in the remake.

It's sad, but you may be right, it seems to be how Blizzard works nowaday... I did a full playthrough of Grim Dawn, I think it was with some sort of summoner if I remember correctly. It was a good experience for sure. That was before I started doing youtube though.

You are 100% right, I remember trying this feature, but I was so used to old school D2 that I came back the old way. It was working well though.

Might be worth giving it a shot if it's on sale! And yes 4:11 and pretty much all the second half of the video is gameplay footage. It's a top down experience.

Truly broke students should enjoy the opportunity to explore the amazing library of classic titles available at extremely low prices. New games are expensive and include the risk that you don’t enjoy them. Diablo 2 is the best game in the series anyway. Find an old disc-copy or just grab the excellent remake if you’d like to avoid any compatibility headaches. It’s FAR better than 3 or 4.

Oh! And if you prefer a modern title that’s extremely similar, play Path of Exile. It’s free and arguably superior to Diablo in many ways. Its sequel is on the way too.

I agree that Diablo 2 Resurrected and Path of Exile might be more affordable options if you are broke. Diablo 4 isn't bad, but it sure is a little too expensive for what it delivers, especially end game content...
