Welcome to the Trainguy17 channel!
While I've been on RUclips for a long time, filming trains has been a more recent endeavor but one I really enjoy. My goal is to make interesting, informative, professional videos highlighting rail operations in Northeast MS / surrounding areas as well as footage from other trips and adventures along the way.
I am always looking for new locations / topic suggestions and ways to improve the quality of my videos: suggestions are always welcome!

CPKC's Holiday Train visits Meridian! (A Trainguy17 Christmas Special)
To celebrate the holiday season, CPKC runs a variety of themed trains throughout its vast network. The former KCS lines see the KCS holiday train carry over in the form of the KCS office car special, pulled by southern belle F7s, and a travelling holiday exhibit. We would catch the holiday train as they pulled into Meridian, MS, as well as catching the first run of M265 and some other trains before visiting the holiday train at union station. Enjoy!

We'll catch the OCS between Columbus and Amory, and again departing Amory towards Memphis as well as some freight trains between Amory and Net...

In this first of a two part series, we visit north Alabama and the city of Decatur, a port city and major junction on both the NS and CSX railroads. Both lines share a single-tracked railroad bridge across the Tennessee river, and with over 30 trains crossing per day, delays and waits are common. We'll see a steady mixing of traffic on a cool, cloudy July day. Enjoy!

Awesome video 😀👍🏾
1:24 YOU CAUGHT A DASH 8
the struggle is real when there's 2 trains. One time a CSX intermodal came from one direction and a NS came in the opposite direction and couldn't see the NS because the intermodal was too tall.
For filming I prefer when the intermodal is behind. But if its in front you get this cool audio effect as the other train goes by
Those C40-8's look like old NS locomotives. Great video
AGR’s Dash-8s are mostly former Conrail / CSX engines
@trainguy1792 Ok. I knew that horn sounded familiar. Haha. Cool.
Another awesome video train guy, 17 and man you stay safe out there and we’ll see you on the next one
Awesome video
Nice.
Excellent video! What is the location of the shot at the very beginning of the video? There is a fire truck on the right in the video.
That's in Georgiana, Alabama on CSX's M&M sub
Great catches there man, especially that office car special!
I love railfanning in Decatur, I met the People who live on the right of you before the bridge. They are so sweet and kind!

Excellent video with BNSF office car special 😀👍🏾
Nice video. I believe they turned the ocs train around at armory so the car with the large rear observation window is at the end of the train. The believe that’s how it was when it came to Columbus, and the power had to run around the train to take it back to Amory because Columbus doesn’t have a large enough wye to turn around the train. But I’m only guessing.
oh that makes sense, thanks!
@ thanks for the great video 👍
I am 70 and have enjoyed watching trains from that location for years. Your two videos were excellent, very well done and enjoyable. You captured that junction perfectly. Thank you.
Much appreciated!
Nice!
Now.. Almost Showing Home ! ..crossed-over The River in Decatur hundreds of times and watched more trains than I can remember Thanks For This One !!!! ❤❤
2:24 nice a EMD
Is that someone's house at 3:15 nice !
I actually know the man and his wife who live there! They're so kind!
That would be real cool but noisy.
@@tinindian9543 Its not that noisy, its very quiet inside, all you get is a gentel rumble, and a muffled clicking sound because of the frog point there
Awesome video!
With TVAX cars that first NS coal train is a Kingston (Tennessee Valley Authority) coal train not Scherer (Georgia Power) coal train.
Thanks for the correction!
Magnificent catches of the trains coming by and pass, i like it 5 stars. Thumbs up. Hearing that amazing diesel sound and cars coming through is absolutely crazy. Keep up the perfect work, my friend, i just liked and subscribed your channel, Greetings from Portugal to the USA.
greetings from Mississippi! I've seen trains in Europe and New Zealand and ours might just be the biggest and loudest!
@trainguy1792 indeed, mate
I’m commenting so it’s in my history so I can show my son later. (He’s 3)
Do you have to get permission to go into seaboard road? I was always worried about trespassing.
From what I could tell it wasn't trespassing unless you go onto the tracks. The north side of Seaboard road by Oak Forest has a gate, but if the gate is open I think it's okay to drive through. I made sure to stay away from the tracks and in general not linger, if you plan to go for an entire afternoon for example I would request that in advance.
I12517
When was this video provided I'm thinking I'm in the vehicle at the track the Ford Edge
It was shot on July 18th, a Thursday. I saw a group inspecting the lift bridge before I129 came through
Excellent video
Hey bro just got my start date with CAGY and what kind of jobs ther typically run do they have road jobs or all local and switching
Well depends on if you work for the CAGY out of Columbus or out of Greenville. Out of Columbus it's switching jobs and the ~10 mile run to and from the steel mill, usually with dash 8 power. Out in the Delta, from my knowledge they have switching jobs in Greenville and a local that goes to Greenwood and back, about 50 miles each way.
@ I hired out of the Columbus yard and from what I heard they run to millport AL .now idk how true that is
@ the switching jobs and the steel run don’t sound to bad put in 10hrs days and be home everyday can’t beat that
@@fredrick8947 I know somebody runs to Millport, CAGY and the Luxapalila Railroad used to be separate but they may be combined now. One thing about the CAGY is they do run at night, occasionally the mill run will be at like 3 am.
As always excellent video and looking forward to the next one 👌
Great catches there man!
I agree with your other viewers, this was an excellent video.
Thanks!
Excellent footage! 👏👏👏👏I guess a lot of rail fans would like a bit of commentary too, so we know more about what we’re looking at?
I've thought about doing voice overs on my videos one day, maybe once I get a better microphone setup
Excellent video 😀👍🏾
Nice shots.
Beautiful sounding horn
Nice catches!
Great catches and awesome video
Thanks!
How common are those dash 8s, if I ever visit that railroad I want to catch them.
Very common, they run SD40-2s from time to time but widecabs are the norm on their longer distance trains
Great video!
Cool.
Nice vid! Can’t wait to see what you got in Decatur. I always wanted to go there.
Awesome video with Amtrak 59 alc 42 charger leading to New Orleans LA
Is 4250 not allowed to lead on Alabama Southern? It seems like its always trailing.
It’s on them if they want to lead it, but they lead it yesterday
Hey train guy 17 great video man I enjoyed it I'm really looking forward to your next one I like speedy trains!! Lol
thanks! Next one will be speedy indeed
Great video! Cool to see spots in my area that I forgot about and even a few I never thought about. Looking forward to your next video!
Super video.
Awesome video 😀👍🏾
Awesome video
Cool.
Only 1 main industry. I remember when G&G had LOTS of varied industry--- and also BALDWIN diesels.
Very true, granted SDI Columbus might be the biggest industry in the state in terms of pure tonnage
As always great video! Can’t wait to see what other trains you caught in my neck of the woods.
