Cooperative games can be tricky! How do you get to flex your muscles with your awesome deck while still not stepping on everyone else's toes? Playing together is fun, but there's also some responsibility to make sure everyone else is having a good time, too. This isn't usually a problem, but it's a good idea to sometimes stop and see if you have some bad habits that you can tone down while play...

    Treasure hunter has found a good home in || Jim’s spirit deck, since +1 intellect is relevant (with other spirits and cards like st. hubert’s key I consistently had 4-6 intellect baseline), and it discards itself, so your most important spirits can stay in play for longer

    Excellent video. I haven’t played these cards much (only got them earlier this year), but I agree that many of these cards fit better in today’s card pool than when they were released. Older podcasts and video from 2018 were somewhat meh on the TFA cards, but a lot of these cards compliment archetypes that were later fleshed out.

      That'd be an interesting project to go look at some of the contemporary takes from, say, PBG and Whisperer in Darkness --- I'm not sure i have time for that since the cards weren't released all at once, but it'd be a nice addition to my own videos.

    Three pieces of insight from me (at the halfway point): 1) I dont necessarily think that BAR needs to measure up to boss killer weapons, while it can be avsolutely built to do that. The advantage of BAR is its flexibility: you can kill 1-2-3-4 health enemies as they come, without "wasting" any damage. With Flamethrower, you have to have a plan in case a rat engages with you, if you dont want to use one of the precious ammos on a 1-1-1 enemy, and before Brand of Cthugha this was a major consideration, as even Bandolier didnt help you. With BAR, you can just fight whatever comes at you, and with a littlw bit of buildaround you'll have ammo to spare for the boss fight. 2) I have found Treasure Hunter quite good in Leo, when we were playing 4 players. Whenever I had a turn where noone drew any enemies, I could pop down Treasure Hunter for a +1 book boost for three investigates, and just get rid of him as soon as an enemy appeared, usually a turn or two later (hopefully even taking advantage of some of the soak in the meanwhile). It definitely wasn't the highlight of the deck, but if you have some space to flex with Leo, he does come in handy. 3) Hemispheric Map might be trending up, just on the account of more Big Maps existing (Innsmouth to some extent, and big-ass maps on EOTE).

    It annoys me to an unreasonable amount that the tier classes are not a partition of the set of cards. You could put a little mark on the ones that are trending up or down instead of creating 2 new tiers that make no sense. A 2-dimensional cartesian-style plane could cut it as well.

    I recently played Amanda and for whatever reason assumed you couldn't just commit that weakness to any skill test and had to let it go under her to go away. Is that even a real weakness in seeker? Edit: Wait why don't seekers have weaknesses? Trish just plays disguise and a manual dex or just use her lockpicks to remove hers. She wants to evade enemies/avoid AoO most of the time anyways....

    On this "return to" version, I think it can be easier to kill the conductor (at the right moment) than just go as fast as possible, because the main difficulty here is the damage the conductor deals. You also take some risk by discarding "dodge" instead of "dig deep" but you handled it very well anyway.

  • @ethanlivemere1162
    @ethanlivemere1162 6 дней назад

    What's even worse than the "when" and "after", is that "if" happens AFTER "after". This is why you cannot discard ice picks for an extra clue, then scavenge them, because scavenging happens "after" and ice picks can be discarded "if". Which is completely counterintuitive, that "after you succeed" happens before "if you succeed".

    Poor Tony, even though he managed to pull it off. Lonnie failed him for the first time, but I think this just shows how delicate the engine for him could be: if you get no draw from the very start, you can potentially get killed by a very random stupid encounter card. On another topic, for a second there, I was really thinking that the smoking pipe could come in full clutch :D

      It's fine as long as everyone who you're playing with is on board and knows what Amanda's capable of. If you're playing IRL playing Unrelenting over and over is painful to watch just because of having to dig things out of the bag but I think that's worse with Silas since it's every turn.

      Amanda is definitely a very fun investigator. One way to dial it back a bit (especially in flex), is to let others help you out in some respect, for example with tough treacheries that might deal you damage / horror. A crazy Amanda going for full power would probably run the Myconid or Forewarned to cancel pretty much everything, but you don't need to do that to do well in the campaign.

    G'day Daniel, sorry to ask this on this video, I don't really know another way to contact you. I have a question got you as someone who knows the rules fairly well, as I've not been able to get answers elsewhere on the forums. Thank you for your time if it's something you can help answer. I'm playing through tsk and am wondering if you would be able to make clear the rules difference or reason for Rex Murphy's clue ability being able to proc/ trigger off of an expose test against a concealed mini card at a location, whereas it seems people say that scavenging and pickpocketing talents do not work after an expose test, using investigation and evade respectively, just as in the rex example. This is really confusing to me and winding if you've ever covered conceal in videos or are knowledgeable in this area, as I know you've said you like the rules interaction side of the game. Thank you. Love your vids and helpful content.

    • @Quick_Learner
      @Quick_Learner 15 дней назад

      Sure, it's a pretty simple answer: something like Pickpocketing requires that you evade an enemy as a cost. You can't replace costs with exposing mini cards, only effects. If you didn't actually evade an enemy, you can't proc it. Rex's ability works since you're able to replace the effect of discovering a clue with exposing a mini card (and you are still investigating, after all).

I was new to the game so looking on the internet for rules changes on a card hadnt crossed my mind and so deny existence was really good and coming from mtg that timing made sense. Second time I read the faq saying deny existence only could stop 1 damage and played her again. Her weakness is crippling. You either lose your draw engine and willpower boost or just take 4 to 5 horror to the face if you get it after turn 3 or so. Mystics have high sanity and decent horror soak but that is brutal.
