Exactly what I've been telling folks! House was a culture, long before House was an official genre in 1984! It did not start that year! Folks will seriously argue about that! I started in 1977 too! My first gig was my 5th grade Christmas party at school. So I've been at this, longer than a lot of DJs now-a-days. I am an original DJ from Maywood, IL... DJ XPRESS! Matter of fact, we're tailgating in Maywood this Sunday, Oct. 27th, 2024! The legendary Winfield Scott Park is the location! We start at 9am! I, along with a great line-up of other DJs, including Gene Hunt will be on the 1's & 2's!

This man birthed so many sub-genres in House! He established that Townhouse Dance sound with E-Smoove, tailor made for young, single and sexy women! That horn sample is unique in his music. The Silk sound was perfect for women like Jomanda, Kym Sims, Cece Peniston, Shay Jones, En Vogue, Janet Jackson, Paula Abdul and D'Bora for example.

Oh yes! Jersey Loooooooooved Ten City!!! I don't know how many times I've seen them @ Club Zanzibar, Newark, NJ. We were always BIG on vocals & melody in Jersey and Ten City fit here hand in glove. They even came to a club in Elizabeth, NJ!!! I remember when the State Of Mind LP came out, Tony Humphries played the entire LP, just let the tracks play one after another!!! Thank you Byron for giving Jersey and Club Zanzibar its props!!!!
