What manifold and exhaust setup are you running I want my car to sound exactly like this ripper🤝🤌🏽
RSI manifold. Hands down the best sounding manifold for M5x imo. 3” dump pipe into a bit of a bitsa exhaust and 1 muffler.

3” lol.. it’s overkill but it’s the off cuts that we had from Turbo M50 builds. 2.5” would be much better.

Are you going to run an oil cooler btw?
We will try without for now and see what the oil temps are like and then decide if it needs it. It’s easy to put a cooler on and then have the oil temps never get hot enough to burn the bad stuff off, so we try to only install one if there’s temp issues
So cool to see other guys putting a turbo on an m43! Me and a body is going to build an E46 Touring with a M43B19 engine in a couble of month, cant wait to drive it!
Where did you get your J pipe flange?
Its the stock exhaust flange just cut off so it bolts straight up

It's been a while guys! And we're back.. kicking off with a long video i hope this helps answer a lot of yor questions on turboing your M43. Not the best ending but the next video with the solution is already in full swing! Let me know what you think :)
Ive had 4 UCF10 LS400s, never had any issues with them, currently my LS400 burgundy on burgundy has almost 300k miles. 700 is not bad but you guys shoulda painted the bottom cladding a different color like a dark gray and the bumpers kept the chrome stripes which is how LS400s came.

I hope the wet sand and polish will fix this paint job. I think the main reason why your paint looked like that was poor cleaning prep and also water from Your air compressor . Need better filters
you know if it's possible to replace camshaft without touching the timing belt?
I would strongly suggest just doing the timing belt while you’re in there. While it may seem scary it’s probably very straight forward and they are known for having the belts fail so not worth it when you’ve already got it apart.
@Nathanmakovec i dont know how to do the timing belt... can I just replace the camshaft by myself and leave the timing belt for a mechanic? It's possible to change the camshaft without remove the timing belt?
No you will need to remove the timing belt to get the camshaft out. If you have the skills to replace the cam, you won’t have issues swapping the belt out. On cam removal you’ll need to retime the engine anyways.

What is the exact code of the engine and how much hp did it have to begin with?
M43B18 and they make 114hp at the flywheel from factory.

having the head off you could have one more gain giving it to machine shop - additional washers/shimms under retainers to make valve springs bit stiffer. Going over 1 bar of boost above 5500 you get very noticable valve float and engine will not push more then around 200hp (crank). Info in case you would struggle to make 250 :) What ECU do you plan to run, cause I couldn't understand?
This is something I may do in the future but I’m interested to see what the motor as a complete stock package can do. This allegedly made 280hp as is with a different turbo. It’s a “racing electronics” standalone ecu
A nice new flat clean sharpening stone (10 to 15 dollars at hardware shop) with some crc is good for getting the head and block surface clean and flat.
