I do miss being in school, where there could be more than one competent percussionist in the band.
Great arrangement! Except for the bass part. Does nothing to help lock in the groove until the solo sections.

Yeah it felt very… incomplete. I saw what the soloist was trying to communicate but in a way his ambition overwhelmed his ability. He is probably an amazing saxophonist but at that point in time he overestimated what he was capable of pulling off. I could hear the solo he wanted to play just by his expression in his playing. It’s truly incredible how much untapped potential we are missing out on because people had moments like these.

This is a perfect mix of jazz and Latin . Associated with Dizzy Gillespie.
Would this be considered Jazz or Mambo? After listening to this I also realized this style of music really influenced Steely Dan.
