I relate to this so much - I’m 33 now and while I wish I had have had more support from my parents, at least I know I can do anything. I can achieve anything I put my mind to because I’ve already had to achieve so much on my own. I can appreciate what I’ve worked for. I can make plans for myself and look after myself. I can strategise and find ways to get what I’m working towards.

I would say that the paradox of giving more causing you to get more is explained by being in abundance mindset. You only give if you think you have more than enough to give. This belief that you have abundance causes abundance to come to you.

1. born to rich parents 2. grew up swimming, competitively for a decade 3. am practicing ACIM ("A Return to Love" is just repackaged ACIM teachings) Really love this video! I never thought I wanted or desired other parents, but I often wondered how my American yuppie, suburban, Boomer parents could be so clueless about themselves and the world at large yet be so successful. It was omnipresent in my suburban 80s upbringing that the parents of all different cultures yet all American were so successful while remaining largely unsophisticated about how they got there. New money all the way. The Boomer yuppie zeitgeist was an interesting time. Financial capital/resources is not the same as cultural capital, intellectual capital, spiritual capital, social capital, networking capital, charisma capital, etc. People assume that once you secure the financial capital that the other capitals fall into place... not so. Many people with money never figure out the other capitals, some try and some don't try. In America there's so much less classism baggage associated with money. It's more about mobility, spaciousness, living well. The middle class want money in order to be middle class, not to ascend to a different social network. But the thing is in other cultures there's encoded wisdom within those classism constructs. So America acting like those rules don't apply also lose the wisdom associated with it. It's a double-edged sword, not all good and not all bad to see the world through class consciousness. From what I gather about Wan Lin is that her parents lived in 3 countries (China, Canada, US) and she's lived in 4 countries (Canada, US, France, UK), which to this American is LOTS of mobility (which from an American perspective is highly advantageous). Cheers to such a culturally enriching life and so much more to go.

very relatable the part about complaining. I've been in a situation of being quite spoiled. Not in a ''big mansion going on many holidays and brand new x-box every year'' type of way but I did have way too many toys and my mom had to work hard as a child with a mentally ill mother so she has always coddled me (I'm also an only child). She always had the tendency to be overly protective and do all the household tasks herself, including my room! My father is poor but the same way with buying tiny treats constantly (to the point I just have to throw them away or else my space becomes cluttered) even though our bond is very troublesome and almost non-existent, it's his way of expressing love. I've become quite passive, meek and sheltered. The positive side is that I'm currently in a position where I have no financial worries (like rent), plenty of free time, saved up enough money, have seemingly unconditional support from them and many choices (studying, traveling, investing in a business…).Yet it's easy to stay stuck because of this belief that I 'can't do things myself' or can ‘only start to live’ when I have a social network. I blamed my lack of action and motivation on not having friends and being isolated, while all these choices were there… Then I thought traveling would make me happy and spent three miserable weeks crying in Tokyo on my own. Then spent time with people and felt miserable as well .I guess there’s always something to complain about, so much of it is a matter of perspective. Only finding my purpose / spiritual awakening brought back true happiness and fulfillment

I needed to hear a lot of what you said today. Thank you, Wan Lin! Several years ago when I was in a difficult relationship, one day during a moment of despair (which isn't a justification) I googled a love spell and did it, basically tying myself to my ex. I left him shortly after and realized what a stupid idea it was to do that spell. I greatly regret doing that spell. I prayed and asked for forgiveness but the idea that I tied my ex to me forever kills me. I am in a wonderful relationship now but can't get rid of this fear that this relationship might get ruined as a punishment for that stupid spell I did.... Perhaps living with tormenting thoughts is my price for that stupid spell i did.

So relatable! I had this innate feeling to stop using all my social media and it really brought chaos relationally. But in the end years later, as I increased discernment and became connected to my intuition, I had saved myself by carving out the time and mental space to invest in my dream life. Every little nudge was real! Can't believe I spent so long incorrectly feeling shame for not sharing everything on social media (lol narcissistic parent abuse). Just ended up attracting people who used me as a child from that mentality. Now I'm working on emitting the calming loving vibe I feel within me outwards and people are so much nicer to me! I was scared to carry myself positively bc when I did growing up it attracted jealous people who insisted I was just looking for attention and wanting to be a princess for being so good vibes. Now instead of caving I hold myself bc I am authentic and believe it's my job to be authentic to my body and provide people the intuition to decipher fakeness for genuineness. :) PS Can I ask what your sun, moon, rising are?
