The ride didn't last in Texas due to the heat causing issues with traction on the tire driven lift. The ride had an incident where it rolled back and struck a train in the station. After this they added anti rollbacks but still had problems getting the trains over on the very frequent hot days so Six Flags moved it to California where the climate was more moderate. When they did this they raised the first two loops to lower the G forces. Premier Rides did the alterations. The reason there are so many block brakes is because the ride was designed to run up to 5 trains on the track at a time. This is very common on Schwarzkopf coasters. The block brake before the last loop is not lower than the loop. That's your perspective playing tricks on you.

I've been on both versions including have done when holding brake worked. The holding brake honestly kind of kills the floater on the pack spike. Also, I kind of prefer the 2002 version more as you can stall upside down. Sitting in back of the original version, you barely experienced the twist. I also preferred the 2002 version of V2 to Wicked Twister, the twin-twisted spike version that once lived at CP.
