Have you ever had to go to medical on a cruise ship and if so, what was your experience?

My husband cannot walk 20 feet without stopping to rest. He now uses a scooter at home and on ships. We don't cruise Carnival and only Princess, and it doesn't seem as bad as Carnival, as far as disrespect on both sides. We'd be fine to get a medical letter, but I see both sides to that.

I’ve been planning to try the 12 hour French toast, sounds delicious!!!! Cruising with Carnival is like Windows. Just like Microsoft makes theirs so much worse with every new version, your "Carnival Experience" also receives important updates. Like atrocious industrial egg out of canisters and premade omelettes (yukh!). Or miserable strips of turkey ersatz-bacon, never crisp but always low in taste. Oh well, you will have nothing and you will be happy. Especially now with plans to introduce insect protein into the diets of the poor...

Never understood the bacon angst. It's the cheapest, crappiest little paper thin grease strips you can imagine. They can keep it. Currently casino deals keep cruising worth the effort. When those dry up, totally done.

It’s a money making thing unfortunately. If they don’t have to pay for bacon that’s more money in their pockets. Same with the omelette station. One less crew member they have to pay. Every decision that every large corporation makes involves more profits then makes up an excuse instead of saying it’s about money. Soon there won’t be steaks or the 12 hour French toast without paying for it. Hopefully not though!

In the MDR they took away the spaghetti that came with the Chicken Parm. I found out that a lot of people don't want a big meal so they ask if they can get just a bowl of spaghetti, because of that the kitchen always has a big pot of it on hand. So I order the Chicken Parm and then I order a bowl of Spaghetti, I stab the chicken with my fork lift it up then dump the bowl of pasta on my plate, put the chicken on top and it's just like it used to be. When I asked my server why they took away the pasta he said "it's just Carnival being Cheeeeeeeeeeeeap cheap cheap cheap it's what they always do".

Can't go wrong with bacon. Powdered egg omelets must be cheaper to make? Sadly, I think a lot of younger cruisers are OK with the food as they've grown up on fast food. It's still better than what they are used to. IMO.

We sailed on the Joy June 2-9, 2024, NYC-Bermuda. We liked the Joy, but I think the way to describe the Joy is 'disjointed.' Our preferred ship is the Escape. On the Joy, the food and service staff was really great, and was better than our Feb cruise on the Escape. Seeing as the ship was repurposed from the Asian market, the locations of things was a little strange. The spa being in the back and no spa pool was disappointing, but we loved the spa overall and cold plunge made up for the lack of a pool. The specialty restaurants on the Joy were the absolute best. Went to Cagney's, Le Bistro and La Cucina. Great service staff and the steaks were done perfectly. We did try the BBQ restaurant, which was okay, but nothing to really write home about. Favorite place was The District Brewery, lots of great microbrews. I would definitely sail on the Joy again.

Here’s my opinion….if a crew member “watches” a person hide them then no, they shouldn’t but if it is a find, it’s a find. They get to keep it. I bet most will not keep all that they see, they take ones that make them smile!

Ok, but how many ships are in Juneau on a given Saturday anyway? Aren't the majority of cruise ships at or near their home port (Seattle or Vancouver) on Saturdays? And from what I've heard, the private islands in the Caribbean are necessary due to the number of destinations in the area that have become problematic due to crime, etc.

Cruise ducks are never going away unless it gets out of control like some people ruin it for everyone else. It seems like nowadays if one or two bad instances happen that activity or amenity goes away. Scooters will always be around as they are needed for the disabled or injured. I think a lot more rules and regulations will be implemented on scooters in the near future though. Great topics for discussion!

Entitled and speeding scooters are a problem everywhere. There needs to be a preregistration program where proof of a disability in the state you reside, in the form of a letter, plate or placard must be produced. Letters from doctors can be faked. I am also in favor of limiting the amount of scooters utilized. Scooters should be banned from cabin hallways and stewards should provide valet service to and from the room. Tip accordingly! Ducks are ok but should not be the main focus of a vacation.

what are your thoughts on the cruising ducks, or the scooter concerns people seem to be having on Carnival Cruise Lines?

Scooters are here to stay. More and more are using them. Most need it, but some are lazy. John and I will rent scooters, and you gals can create the duck obstacle course for use to race through. Of course, we will have visit the Havana bar, to prepare for the race.

With more and more of these mega ships, no wonder the towns are being overwhelmed. They should work out a plan between the various towns and the cruise industry and limit the number of ships at any one time. Maybe consider limiting the number of people per day. This problem seems to have materialized since the mega ships have come into the picture. Another suggestion might be to prohibit the mega ships and only allow the smaller ships. Just my opinion.

Do you live in Alaska? Will this Ban affect you or your business?

We sailed to Bermuda on the Joy on June 23. Weather was not great! Ship was really crowded esp with everyone crammed inside. Final days was sunny and the pool was 3 people deep - awful! We’ll be posting a video on this cruise after we finish our Celebrity Apex videos. Take a look! Just subscribed - thanks for the info about Park West 😊
