When a roadie gets a long travel mtb
What does a roadie do when they get a long travel mountain bike like the Specialized Stumpjumper Evo? Chances are they'll spend a lot of time pedaling.

Stealth Hitches Hidden and Removable Hitch on VW Golf R
Просмотров 9 тыс.3 года назад
I installed a Stealth Hitches hidden hitch on my Golf R and it turned out even better than I expected. Totally hidden and ultra stealthy when not in use. 🤘🏼 Please leave any questions in the comments below and I'll be happy to respond with my thoughts/experience. Great video. I’ve just got an Aethos Pro with Roval Rapide wheels and am considering a future cockpit upgrade like yours. Are you happy with your Alpinist cockpit or would you go for the more aero Rapide version if you had the choice?
Love it! So happy I am not alone intros shaving weigh concept....at any cost. lol
The UCI is the HOA of cycling!!
Aero is nonsense!!
You suppose it could work on a Jetta?
Let me know when you build an mtb that's below 20 lbs.
Kevin, you’ll be the first one to know!
I love my Aethos, I also have a Trek Madone SLR and the Aethos with the same wheels as your bike is just as fast as the Madone Aero bike with myself riding it and way more comfortable, plus climbs better than the fat Madone, most riders don’t need aero optimised bikes, it makes me laugh when I see aero bikes, with deep wheels but loads of spacers under the stem and the shifters turned up 😂 thinking the aero bike makes them fast 😂🙈🤪
Excellent work on the video and review. I’m curious - I’ve just ordered an S Works Aethos to replace my S Works SL6. Neither will have integrated cables but the SL6 has some aero tubes (not bar or stem). I’m hoping that with a wheel swap like you’ve done and either an integrated rapide cockpit or aero bar I’ll get those aero gains back somewhat to lesson the impact of going non aero. I’m a fast rider, love a sprint and descents but don’t race. Regularly like sitting on the front of the group churning out 350w for a few minutes at 35/40kmh. I’ve probably bought the wrong bike for that but hey I wanted something different too lol
What is the color of your crux?
Now that you have had it for a few years would you still recommend it? Is it holding up well?
You made it look easy. Any advice. Specially with the bumper tabs. Do I just pull it??
I’ve got a Aethos ultegra Di2 with 404 Zipps. Best ride I’ve had
Nice? It’s so good!
that aint long travel thats just a trail bike man
Ok - where does downhill start then?
soon as you get 38+mm stanchions and i would say dh is 175+mm (also btw love the vid just being that guy in the comments sry) @@TeamFeralCatz
I have the evo as well. I put the head tube in the steep end setting and makes it more sprung and manageable to pedal.
Good to know, it’s a fun bike
@@TeamFeralCatzI didn’t mean sprung lol but it helps a lot. Makes it closer to the regular stumpy a lot of pedaling. I hope to do a lot more this year.
Ahh, the corner canyon area is so great. Trails for XC all the way to some real DH hitters.
So much fun terrain!
Nice guardaroba of bikes!👍
Thank you! I like that word.
Hey, what wheels are these ?
These are the neuspeed RSe102s in hyper black
@@TeamFeralCatz thanks for the response ! 🙏🏽
That is a lot of bike for those trails, but enjoy and have fun. Most mountain bikers have a road bike and even gravel bike. There are many times when trails are unridable due to rain, mud, so we road ride.
Yeah it is, i ride this trail on my 120mm travel bike all the time but this thing just breezes over it all haha. Just my first ride on the thing.
Today this is me
Do you think it'll work with an aftermarket Cat bakck installed? Thanks
I would be surprised if it didnt fit. I haven’t installed one yet but I wouldn’t imagine a cat back would take up more space than the existing muffler.
i mean shit if i lived around views like that id be a roadie too
It’s rough out here, so many beautiful canyons we have to choose from.
Andrew and I are wondering if the creek gap footage hidden behind the paywall?
You have to subscribe to my 0nly fanz for that
I counted 3 mountain bikes vs 2 road bikes in your garage, just saying'.
😅😅true, but one of the mtbs is my wife's and I've got another road bike on the trainer in the basement
No flats
never
@@TeamFeralCatz it takes a fair bit of skill to ride on flats. It took me at least a year. About 18 years on spd before.
Can totally relate as a fellow roadie. Have SPD pedals on my mountain bike and cycle to my nearest creek a few miles away to get my off-road "fix" about once a month. It's nice to roll over just about anything on 29's. It's an upper body workout as well.
That's awesome, it's great for that, and for some fun.
Mountain biking is better, also really cool channel man
Mountain biking really is fun and thank you very much!
This video was awesome man!
Thanks so much!
You got some great trails right out your back door
We really do, we're very fortunate!
I hate that someone lives in that area and is a “roadie” sell your home and let someone who will actually appreciate the terrain move in.
Haha I live here because I ski all winter and spend hours every week on the trails. Also there are some pretty rad roads too. No need to hate!
the road shoes are a serious MTB fashion crime!! get this man some 5.10s or Ride Concepts!
🙈🙈😂
As a 30 yr long mountain biker I realised most mountain bikers would benefit from a gravel bike, props for trying "real trails" 😂
We could all use a little bit something extra sometimes 😂
gravel bikes are legit just roads bikes with different tires.
Why wouldn't it?
Endurobros will see this, say 160mm is nothing, then hop on their 170mm travel bike to ride the gnarliest of XC trails; saying YEWW on tiny rock jumps lmao
I feel that, I see a lot dentist enduro custom builds, with all the bells n whistles, literally, bells. Dudes on blue trails wearing full face n GoPros and screaming yeehaa at every little bump screaming "I got air bruh" I ride alone, mostly 😂
😂😂
zero cars, thats worth something.
zero cars is almost the best part
Think I recognize that trail from MTB Yum Yum's videos
Probably! It's a fun popular one.
Very entertaining lol loved it
thank you!
You hassled me for two years about baggies on the XC bike, now it’s my turn to return the favor: those shoes…
hahaha am I not supposed to use white shoes?
Yeah that's about right, clip in and pedal uphill
just keep pedaling?
Get you a man that can do both/. #favyoutuber
haha 😊
once a roadie, always a roadie.
It's not that big of a MTB really
haha really it's not that big. 160mm travel. But it's a first for me and it feels like trophy truck 😂
Also, it climbs surprisingly well, tbh
Tu horquilla delantera sid es de 100 o 110 mm de recorrido?
El sid es 120 mm
Excellent presentation and review
Thank you!
Which year is your R? I see the label on the box says it’s for 2016 to 2019 years, but on their website they only list it as fitting 2018/2019. WTF? I’ve got a 2016 and when I contacted them, they said it would not fit because the rear facia on the bumper changed in 2018… if the attachment points are the same, I figured worst case, the trimming required might be a little bit different on the older models, but it would still fit. Confused!
Mine is a 2018 so I'm not sure but it seems wild to me that it'd be much different on a mk7! Wish I could help out more.
aethos, crux, epic wc....done.
Do you have the Epic WC? How do you like it?
@@TeamFeralCatz great bike. had the epic evo. wc much better pedal platform. fast. much sharper handling. need to dial in suspension to get there but once sorted, awesome.
I saved weight, sold my evo and bought a Cervelo Zfs 120
Oooh @coreymclernon how do you like it??
Where did you get that sticker for the stem? Really nice!
that's actually the graphic from the bar, it came with it on!
I agree…It’s my favorite bike as well! No regrets owning it or riding the crap out of it.
Nice!
Came for the bike. Stayed for the dog and the kit.
hahaha love to hear it, thanks!
Looks killer. I like the bar/stem combo.
Thanks, me too!
What are your thoughts on tubolitos? I came across a statement that they are prone to punctures, but it turns out they are not. How was your personal experience with them?
Sorry for the late response to this but I've actually quite liked them. The lightest weight ones may be slightly more prone to punctures, maybe easier to pinch flat but they also have thicker ones that are still lighter than normal and I've been running those with great success. And I love to use them as spares because they are so much smaller.
