    Thank you so much for this wonderful information, Gabe. I do have a question: if I need to get my video to overflow rooms, how/where would I connect those TVs? I actually do not want the overflow rooms to get the feed from Wirecast but I would like them to benefit from the multiple camera shots. I would be using at least 3 NDI PTZ cameras in a permanent setup. Our Wirecast computer is an iMac.

    • @907DP
      @907DP 18 дней назад

      There are a couple ways. One of them is to buy a physical switcher like an ATEM mini or Osee StreamDeck and run inputs from the cameras into the switcher and outputs to the TV. But this comes with challenges. You may end up running (and switching) two totally separate ‘shows’. Also using NDI ptz cameras is a little tough as I am not aware of a physical NDI switcher with hdmi out. You could hook up the ptz cameras via NDI to Wirecast and via hdmi to the switcher (and then output from the switcher to the external tvs) but it is a bit of a problem to solve and depends on a lot of factors like distance to the cameras, available crew and so on.

    • @croixmom
      @croixmom 15 дней назад

      @@907DP Thank you, Gabe. We are going to try using the secondary and NDI output features in Wirecast. For the secondary output we will run an HDMI from the iMac as an additional display and then use the NDI output from Wirecast to utilize a Magewell NDI to SDI converter since that second TV is currently utilizing an SDI to HDMI converter. I hope this works!

    Just use shutter angle instead of shutter speed and you’re good in S&Q mode.

    • @907DP
      @907DP 4 месяца назад

      But S&Q mode won't let you 'drag' the shutter speed which is what this tutorial is all about!

    • @janisbrod
      @janisbrod 4 месяца назад

      @@907DP yes it does - for example if you set it to 180 degree shutter angle and 1fp/s, the shutter speed is 1/2s. Same thing but much easier to work with.

    • @GabeStrong
      @GabeStrong 4 месяца назад

      @@janisbrodbut that doesn’t allow you to ‘drag’ the shutter! 180 degree rule will give you a 1/2 shutter speed at 1 frame per second. Doing it my way with interval record, you can get shutter speeds as slow as 64F! You can get nothing close to that doing it your way, the slowest shutter speed you can get using S&Q is 1F, or translated into ‘shutter angle’ the slowest shutter angle you can set in S&Q is 360 degrees. Not even close to the amount you can ‘drag’ the shutter in ‘interval record’ mode. Dragging the shutter is what gives you the ‘smeary headlights’ look in a time-lapse. You just can’t get that look to the same extent by using S&Q mode because you are locked out of the ‘F’ or frame accumulation modes in shutter speed.

    • @janisbrod
      @janisbrod 4 месяца назад

      @@GabeStrong ok I see, you’re talking about timelapses with less than one frame per second… I very very rarely need anything sped up that much.

    • @907DP
      @907DP 10 месяцев назад

      Alaska isn’t as cold as most people think. Or rather it can be (northern inland parts of the state get brutal) but if you live along the southern coast it’s actually not as cold as many of the northern states in the US as the ocean keeps temperatures moderate. I like nice weather (sunny and 60-70) but I’m not much for extreme heat (above 85 and I start to melt.) I live in Juneau and it’s small (30k people) and off the road system. Anchorage is over 300k people and has a pretty healthy production community. If you were ever to come to Alaska, that’s the place to go as a freelancer as there is a lot more production work in Anchorage.

New developments in technology, high speed internet, voice artists I can hire from afar, music licensing platforms that allow me to license thousands of songs,and high speed internet that allows me to send video files anywhere in the world as well as cheaper tools like drones, gimbals and cameras like the FX6 have combined to give me opportunities to live here and do this without being forced to move to a bigger city. Never tell the client that though…if they are really happy just take the win! Most of the networks have similar sheets. And that’s where it can get a little tricky. You need to make sure you get both your ‘labor rate’ (which is what they will pay you initially) AND your gear rental rate (which you must submit later).
