The Science On How To Make A Habit Stick | THE HACK USED BY THE HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL
Hey Rewire Collective! In this weeks episode, I break down Task Bracketing. Task bracketing refers to a way the brain organises tasks by grouping them into start and end segments. This grouping, or "bracketing," helps the brain allocate focus and energy more effectively across different types of tasks. Task bracketing relies on specific brain circuits, primarily in the basal ganglia and prefrontal cortex, which are responsible for planning, starting, and stopping actions.
Let me know in the comments if this was helpful! Also, let me know if there's anything habits you're now thinking of task bracketing.

    Hi Nicole, first of all thanks for the great content here on RUclips. 🙂 I wanted to ask if there is a correlation between addiction and ocd? Is it possible that an addiction sort of activates ocd? Or in addiction recovery the guilt and shame that arise are a perfect target for ocd? I also would love to see a video on addiction and how it impacts the prefrontal cortex and decision making. Thank you 😊

    Hello, thank you for helping. I know all this, but still, I am unable to resist. How can I get iron will and resistance? And how to resist porn and masturbation? We all know the basics, to leave the phone in another room, change one's environment, and be in an open space with others but what if after all this when one goes to sleep they are alone at night. Or one cannot resist all this. Is it too far gone?

    I love the idea of mental currency because my job takes a lot of my mental resources and with this I now understand that checking my social media accounts is actually not a good mental break. There is something that feels good in knowing the ‘why’ of doing something and having the tools to break the habit. Attention plus repetition. I found this really helpful when I saw my ex crush glancing at me and my usual response is ask myself he doesn’t like but why is he looking at me? And then I would start ruminating on and on about that for the rest of the day but i did the physiological sigh and responded to it differently. I realized that I am asking why questions to avoid grieving the potential relationship I coulve had with that person. So instead of thinking of ways and strategizing to get the answer (which what I usually do whenever I caught him staring at me) I started to feel whatever is coming up. Sadness, loneliness, pain etc. in short, I grieve. Then I reread your book on chapter about grieving and that brings me comfort. ❤ that is also the reason why I cannot stop talking about your book on my social media and friends. Because it worked for me. I consider that as a big win. 🏆 I know change is not linear but that ignites something to keep me continuing on breaking that habit. I keep replaying that moment on my head even on my way home until now because it feels good. I did it!

    I loved this, I have a question. When you having block regarding your dreams when you think about what is your dream life I get anxiety and shut down mentally and emotionally. How to overcome these blocks to understand why my brain and emotions are doing this?

    • @nicolesneuroscience
      @nicolesneuroscience Месяц назад

      @@aliciabodington3272 it’s a form of self sabotage. Your brain can’t close the gap between dreams and reality. I spoke about this a lot in my book! But one thing you can do is visualise yourself in the future, what it would feel like, how you can get there. 🧡🧡 I hope this helps. Visualisation is one of the best tools for this

    Maybe this is just me, but as I'm processing trauma, I sense that the "threats" my mind held so tightly for so long are still well and alive, which, my body is following (avoiding eye contact, hiding etc), but because I contiosly know that I'm safe now, it makes me so happy and I'm so in peace with the fact that the new expreiences will overshadow old patterns in time, I just need to be patient and give myself the best life ever! 😁
