DIY - Co-sleeping Crib
English subtitles available.
I made a simple design for a co-sleeping crib that I then build with minimal (hand) tools and parts. I used blender for the 3D design.
I'm not giving any material or tools list and I encourage you to see what you have around your area which might be very different from mine.
Even though the crib is a lot safer and sturdier that most on the market, make it at your own risk.
If you have any questions let me know in the comments and I'll do my best to answer them.

Grinder modification for (almost) zero retention
Просмотров 6 тыс.4 года назад
The purpose of this video is to show you how to inexpensively modify your grinder to achieve what is called a "zero retention" grinder, or as close to that as possible. My motivation was that I meanly use it as a single dose grinder. I may have different bean types and mixing old grind coffee with new one is undesirable, specially if you are grinding decaf and you don't want any extra caffeine....
Frothing milk - The basics (with the DeLonghi Dedica espresso machine)
Просмотров 87 тыс.4 года назад
I made a couple of videos about this machine and I see that some people struggle with the milk frothing process, so I decided to make this video and try to help visualise it, hopefully making it easier to understand. The most common mistakes are to make too big bubbles or just heating the milk with little foam. We need to find the happy medium. This requires certain skill that can only be acqui...

DeLonghi Dedica with naked portafilter - How to
Просмотров 74 тыс.5 лет назад
In this view I want to show how to make a naked portafilter to be used with the DeLonghi Dedica E685(0). I ordered a replacement one to be able to use the pressurised filters with coarser coffee shall I ever need to. The filter size if 51mm so make sure you get the correct one. The whole process took less than 20 minutes and I'm not particularly handy with a saw. I didn't cut at the filter heig...
I watched all videos on the youtube and you are the best.
Is it safe to keep use the inner wand without the metal outer wand? Been curious about trying that out since I want to have better results.
I finally found a serious video. It was what I was looking for, I knew I was going to find something technical like this. I thank you for it. Greetings from Argentina 🌄
if you remove the metal wand - how do you still change modes from Hot Milk to Cappuccino?
Hi! You do it yourself! That is the whole point, to have control on how to froth the milk. You can froth or heat the milk with the wand, varying how deep the wand goes into the milk. All the best!
Can lactose free low fat milk effect my latteart?
Hi! I use lactose free and lactose has no effect on frothing. Low fat does has an effect, but not in a way to make it impossible. So it might be a little more tricky, but definitely doable!
I've been trying for a month learning how to properly froth from other tutorials but this was by far the best one, I've had good results from trying your method just now. Thank you!
Thank you for your kind words, I'm glad you find the video useful! All the best
Really great tutorial. I've always struggled to get the milk silky on mine. This explains why perfectly!😊
Thank you @steveo44, I'm glad it was helpful! All the best
Do we have to take the plastic cable off the rubber wand every time we have to clean the wand and reuse it or do we put a new one every time?🤔
Assuming the wand works better without wand (cap/hot milk) attachment?
yes
Great tutorial. Tks a lot. The water part cientifically awesome 👌
Great job. What milk you use?
Thank you for the kind words! I prefer full lactose-free milk, but frothing works with any kind. All the best!
Where can I get a bandage like this? Because I also have problems with it falling out while creating a pair
Hi, if you mean the zipper tie, any hardware store should have them. Best of luck!
Excellent camera work and clarity in your speaking. Thank you!
Thank you for your kind words!
I've had my Delonghi espresso machine for a while and couldn't quite get the hang of steaming milk. I can't believe I struggled with this for so long. It's impressive why I only saw your video just now. Now, I can enjoy café-quality drinks whenever I want. Thank you very much for sharing your expertise!
Thank you very much @fitahianamalalar.9790! Helping people improve their coffee experience was my goal and seeing it happening brings me joy. All the best!

Wow how did yuou remove the metal part ? Thanks a lot
Hi strangev0id, If you mean the pannarello wand, you just pull it out. I've done it 6 years ago so I don't remember it vividly but I definitely did not have much trouble doing it. Hope it helps and best of luck!
Every grinder will, after being used enough times without cleaning, have 0 retention on average. Unless a black hole of coffee grounds forms inside the grinder and stays there. The question is how much retention it has when totally clean.
Thank you for your comment. I don't agree with that as you may be confusing retention with net difference. What I noticed and can confirm is that there is between 0.3 - 1g difference between using and not using the bellow. The difference I'm trying to explain is the difference between putting 10g in, and getting 10g out which 90% is new coffee and 10% previous grind coffee that got retained. With the bellow 100% of the grind coffee that comes out comes from the beans you put in. I hope I made my point clear... all the best!
Thanks man. You just save my day for frothing milk
Glad I could help!
Hi, i just got the same machine, and i'm happy with it so far, and did this hack. But i have problem with my steam wand. When i turn on the knob, the steam pressure seems delayed, it takes couple seconds to finally comes out, whether the panarello is attached or not. What should i do?
Hi, this is normal, as first you need to purge some water before the steam comes. This happens to all thermo block machines so nothing to worry! All the best
This guy is pound for pound best RUclips espresso champion .
Thank you for your kind words! :)
The best thing I did for my cheap pressurized espresso machine was upgraded to bottom less portafilter and 4shot basket ☕️ 🔥
Excellent video! However, I tied the pannarello with a zip tie, and it still goes flying after approx. 15 seconds. Any idea about what could be the issue? The steam wand should be clean on the inside and outside.
Hi An Na, it seems that sometimes happens to some people. Hopefully you can figure out what is causing the issue. The reason why it jumps out is because there is some pressure build up in the wand. If you are sure it is clean, then it could be that you bend the wand by accident, or that you touch the sides of the pitcher. Both actions could create some resistance in the steam flow and the pressure will try to escape somewhere (up the wand). That would easily overcome the zip tie. Try in a glass of water and see if you can spot the reason. Hope it helps and best of luck!
Can you tell what’s the cause of steam wand spitting water? Before steaming the milk I always give the steam wand am initial spur to release any water reserves but even after that, after some time alongside normal steam I can see the steam wand spitting bits of water. The machine is only a month old.
Hi! What you describe could be normal behaviour. You could try to increase the water temperature to high as they are both related (water and steam). A little bit of water should not be an issue unless it actually interferes with the frothing. If that's the case, as It's brand new you could contact your dealer for advise (repair/replace). Hope it helps and best of luck!
@@sharethegoodstuff5728 I have tried resetting it. It’s working fine now. Thank you, though! :)
This was excellent. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Fantastic tutorial! Completely applicable to the Smeg (which seems to be this with a Smeg skin). Will be purchasing the wand, but in the meantime, the milk I was steaming has improved 1000%!!!
Happy to hear! All the best!
Great tutorial 10/10
Glad you liked it!
Your video is very helpful, economical and practical too. Im expecting more of your vid like this. Cheers.
Thank you for your kid words, I'm looking forward to making more useful/helpful videos!
The milk frothing was fast and effortless. I'm struggling with mine. I will try your method with the tip just below the milk with that angle of yours! Thanks!
Great, best of luck!
Nice presentation ❤
Thank you!
I just got it and noticed thag it is also spitting water whenever I purge... is it normal?
Hi Alfonso. As long as the knob on the right is not down (frothing or hot water position) no water should come out of the wand. If that's the case then may be there is a leak in the tube inside the machine, but I might be wrong. Hope it helps and best of luck!
I really want thick spoonable foam for my cappuccino. How can I get that?
Hi Judy! Very easy, with lots of practise!! A few tips: - The more milk the easier it is as you have more time. I suggest start with at least 120ml. - A good pitcher helps as well, and the colder the milk the better. - Make sure you can tell by the sound how deep the wand is. You are looking for a very quiet swirling sound. Hope it helps and best of luck!
Thank you. I'll be trying that this morning.
You earned a sub from me. Thanks
Thank you John, I'm glad you liked to video!
Wow. Thank you Javier Bardem for the great tutorial.
Does rubber steamer causes cancer while contacting with milk and hot steam water?
Hi Khayal. The rubber wand was inside the panarello, so the machine was built like that. I don't think the food regulations would allow DeLonghi to sell a machine with hazardous substances that could be harmful with normal use. All the best!
What did you put on top of the panarello??
Hi Sabrina, I removed the panarello. What you see is the inner wand with a clip tie.
What is the cable tie for?
As a precaution, to prevent the rubber wand from being expelled.
VERY good video!!! Thank you!!!
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I've finally managed to get the milk right thanks to your videos!
Thank you very much Steve, I'm glad they helped! All the best
I have been trying to froth the milk to get silky smooth for latte but it's always runny.
Hi Rashid, what do you mean by runny? Did you make foam? If so, did you mix it well before pouring it?
Hi, Thanks for your reply. I've tried so many times and after the frothing the milk is not thick enough like you said shiny thick like a paint. The consistency of the milk was same as it was in the bottle just some foam on top. I've tried without panarello too and it's always like just hot milk not thick.
Yes, I always end up with just foam on top and even after mixing it properly the consistency of milk wasn't thick
@@rashidamanat2706 I see your problem. As there are many variables, let's see if we can pin point the issue. How much milk are you using? Are you getting at least a 3rd increase in volume? (Eg If you start with 200ml, you should get around 300ml of milk + foam) Is the milk constantly spinning as you froth (important)? Do you mix it well enough afterwards? What type of milk are you using? Hopefully I can tell you more after you fill in the dots... All the best!
Great video. Is there a special kind of milk that should be used? We have skim milk in our house.
Hi KanataRobbie. You can froth any milk. I use full, but I have had similar results with semi and skimmed milk so it is definitely possible to froth almost any kind of animal milk. I haven't tried vegetable milk like soja or almond so I cannot comment on those. All the best!
I literally removed the panarello wand a while ago and I thought I was crazy and the only one who did that. But it works and now I feel validated bc i saw this video lol THANK YOU!!! <3
Excellent! I'm sure at anything you do you are probably never the only one :) All the best!
thank you for the tips. I tried it with my delonghi, however, when I tried frothing the milk, the rubber nozzle blowed off. Can you show me how to fix the problem please? Another issue that I faced is that water still come out with the steam.
Hi Nguyễn Đức. If the nozzle pops, you can try different things. First make sure it is clean inside, then check you are not touching the sides of the pitcher as it could bend. As last resort you can add a cable tie like the one I have in the video. For the water problem, make sure you are in steam mode, and that you have enough temperature. Some drops are normal but it should mostly be steam. Hope it helps and all the best!
When should you add flavouring syrup?
Hi Zak-man. I don't add anything to the coffee, but to add it last. All the best!
Amazing details!
Thank you, I'm glad you found the video useful. All the best!
I have this coffee machine for 6 years, and never successful to create microfoam. I met this video yesterday, and finally my foam was smoother than ever! Where have I been?! Thank you so much for your video, now I need to practice to make latte art.
Thank you diana saib for your kind words, I'm glad you found the video useful! All the best
The thing blew Up with the plastic chain. I should use Smaller chain:(
Hi Mesude, it happens sometimes. I hope you sort it out and best of luck!
@@sharethegoodstuff5728 Thank you! Chain is working now but I am loosing my hope for heart shape 😄
@@mesudesamur2550 Never lose hope, keep at it and you will manage! Remember to lower the pitcher close to the cup until the white starts to appear. Best of luck!!
@@sharethegoodstuff5728 thank you and hello again :) I think ı am doing the frothing in right consistency but I always fail in art. Would you tell me what do I do wrong if I send you a video of it?
@@mesudesamur2550 Apologies for the delay, I'm a bit busy these days. If you want, go ahead and upload a video and I'll try to help as much as I can. I also suggest that you watch this video as I make a very simple heart at the end. I hope that helps as well. ruclips.net/video/VEdvExgVj4M/видео.html All the best!
Thank you for your excellent video, may I ask is there any good for the metal panarello wand, is it good for producing cappuccino with big bubble? If you out a cable around the plastic tube , you could not put the metal wand back, could you? Then can you still perform cappuccino?
Hi kin wal, thank you for your comment. The point of the video is to show how to froth milk without the pannarello wand. The problem with the pannarello is that you don't have control on how over the frothing and the results are not as good as without it. I haven't tried to put the pannarello back on with the cable tie, but I presume it would be difficult as it does protrude. But again, why would you use the pannarello if you can do better without it? For me, the better the milk foam texture the better the mouthfeel, so for cappuccino I recommend not using the pannarello and working to get the best result with the inner wand. I hope I answered your questions and let me know if you need any help. All the best!
Hi, thank you for this tutorial. Can I ask why you have taken the silver tube off the steam thing? This is my first ever coffee machine so I’m just figuring it all out!
Hi Sarah Jones, thank you for your comment. The silver tube is called the panarello wand, and it "injects" air in the cappuccino mode, or heats the milk in the other setting. It injects air to froth the milk to create foam for cappuccino style drinks. The result is ok but without the nozzle you can get better results if you plan to do latte art, which for the smaller diameter bubbles are required. If you are interested, I made a video about this here: ruclips.net/video/ApDjtXaHa7U/видео.html Hope it helps and all the best!
Plz from where I can got long silicon nozel?and also I will work with delonghi ec680? Thank you
Hi Hosam Omar, the silicon nozzle came with my machine. I'm aware that there are version with a plastic smaller one. I did a quick search on google and I found the rubber one on amazon www.amazon.co.uk/SPARES2GO-DeLonghi-Dinamica-Espresso-Machine/dp/B07M93FRHS Depending on where you are in the world you might need to look somewhere else. Best of luck!
hi thanks.got the same machine.can I ask your pre grind coffee , is that light or dark roast? I want to have the same crema
Hi jhef moon, The one shown is dark roast. If you are interested in the crema, the pressurized filter will fake the crema so be careful. I use non pressurized filter as shown in my modification video ruclips.net/video/WnKdrpmVP-w/видео.html The most important factor for crema is how fresh the beans are. Dark roast also produces more crema but is a rule of thumb, with exceptions. Your grind setting and coffee amount will also determine how much crema is produced. Hope it helps and all the best!
