Replacing A/C Pressure Switches And Why I'm Okay With Using The Parts Cannon | 1994 Chevy K1500
In this video, I replace some cheap and easy air conditioning pressure switches on my OBS Chevy Truck in an attempt to fix my A/C without opening up the system. I also dive into a hot take that I have about throwing parts at a problem, and why I advocate loading things like this into the parts cannon and firing away!

    If the power circuit probe doesn’t get the seat to move does it mean the motor is the problem?

    • @benwrenchin
      @benwrenchin Час назад

      Yes, that means the motor is bad. Make sure you have everything connected properly, but if you supply power correctly with the probe and it still doesn't move, then the motor is bad for sure. I'd suggest trying the same method on one of the other motors down there so you know for sure you are connecting it properly.

    Can you separate the compressor clutch and possibly replace it without opening the system?

    • @benwrenchin
      @benwrenchin 11 дней назад

      You can, but mine is working. I think the problem must be something internally wrong with the compressor. Usually they leak or the clutch goes out, and mine's not doing either of those. It is 30 years old though.

      @megs4898 @macdaddykwm1 I've thought about it more, and I really shouldn't rule out the clutch. It would be another part to try that doesn't require opening the system AND could possibly be the cause of the problem, however unlikely that may be. Unfortunately, it looks like this particular compressor may not have a removable clutch, at least my search so far for just the clutch has only yielded replacement compressors. I have found one clutch for $100 on RockAuto, but that price doesn't make good fodder for the ol' parts cannon. The saga continues...

    Those spring clamps are junk most of the time the engine heat affects them and they get loose and leak, If you are a smart person you check your clamps once a month or anytime you check fluid levels. Old clamps can be replaced easily if they are the screw kind. Without removing the hoses in most cases. Saving time and labor time. If leaking many times you just tighten the clamp up. That clamp in the video was probably 10 years old or reused from another job. I will admit some cheap clamp out of chrome kits needed to be thrown in the trash and buy good ones. They are total junk they break when you try to tighten them up around the screw part that feeds the clamp through.
