You said in your video that you can repair the boot CV axle boot mine is cracked but the CV axle is still good. My boot is torn. How do I repair it? Thank you so much. Your video was very helpful.
@@MegaJessiejames Buy a boot, you can find them on AllBallsRacing.com The procedure is the same for pretty much all CV boots. I have a video of replacing a boot on a Mule Pro.
Very good and clear video! I just bought a 2024 Defender XT HD10. Should be the same maintenance as the limited you did?
@@elfuegofilm If it does not have HVAC the oil filter will be on the passenger side of the engine, much easier to get to than the HVAC models.

Awesome video!! Thank you for taking the time to do this!!! Much appreciation!!!
thanks for the video, I will be doing this on my machine.

Pretty simple: you're giving your time. Can't always give your time for free.
@@kevinvansickle9393 That’s for sure!

When I changed out my ATV battery from flooded to AGM, made a big game changer they last a whole lot longer.
@@waydwnbama-way3089 I bet, what size battery did you use?
Even without the poop I'd charge the poop is just extra 😂😂😂
@@brandondiblasio8030 Lol, a farmer might tell you that they should be charging you for the fertilizer 😂😂😂
Give it a good soaking with purple power dont let it dry. Just keep applying for a small period of time and itll break down all dirt and grease and oils. And pretty much everything else that normally under there. Keep it off the actual paint the best possible. Within about 15 mins you can pretty much power wash everything off with ease. I litterally clean everything that i work on because i hate working on nasty shit people neglect. They are usually always happy to see their unit come back home as clean or cleaner then when they purchased it
@@brandonqueen9327 Purple power does work well, especially for oil and grease. You’re right about soaking the dried up mud too, that makes it come off way easier. I have one of those spinning nozzles for my pressure washer as well that does a great job, less stuff flys on my face and it gets in tight spaces better with the cone pattern.
100 per hour.
@@vinnieyakubanski6266 Yes, definitely something, what if a shop charged one hour of their labor rate? This one took me about 35 minutes to pressure wash and I will take off the skid plates and blow out with compressed air tomorrow.
Yep, or tell him to clean it and bring it back if he doesn’t want to be charged.
@@MakersAcres Definitely, I’ve had some customers “Clean” their machines and most of the time they don’t do too great of a job, so that’s a difficult conversation too.
@@LazyDWorx oh ya, that’s true. They have to be reminded that they have to clean beyond the plastic body panels.
@@MakersAcres Yeah, it’s pretty hard to do a thorough job without a good pressure washer setup and then removing skid plates and using compressed air once it is up on a lift. Truly amazing, sometimes it seems like I get 50 pounds of dirt off.
@@LazyDWorx Ya, my skid steer tracks are a magnet for mud and it’s always a pain to get it out.
Yes charge for cleaning, its poop.
Talk about a horrendous oil filter location design.
@@adamhenrie6567 Right? It’s a fiasco to access, on the models without HVAC it is a lot easier but still not in a great spot. There are aftermarket oil filter relocation kits available.
Nice job, they don't call them stealerships for nothing, I bought a new truck a few years ago ran across a video on the tube where stealerships would do things to your vehicle to cause you to have to come back for warranty issues, I ran across it again on a forum where folks went in for their free oil change something would go wrong that wasn't a problem before, so they can charge the company warranty charges, free oil changes and inspection are a Stealership Scam. I've always changed my on oil have not had a problem one with this truck like these other folks, I stay away from the dealer free scam crap.
@@waydwnbama-way3089 So many poor service experiences form dealers. At the end of the day no one is going to take better care of your machine than you. I feel like most people are pretty handy once they have the right information to help get the job done.
Thank you so much. This is GREAT. I’ve been living with an intermittently bad starter on a 2015 Pro FXT for a couple of years now, postponing its replacement due to dealership costs. Then 2 days ago, my belt finally went. Watching your video shows that this job is far less technical than the quoted labor costs insinuate. The shop quoted $300 labor for the belt, and $800 labor for the starter. $1100 labor total, not including parts. And no, they weren’t willing to combine labor, even though the belt is part of the starter procedure.
@@benwallace441 Another story about a bad dealer experience, I hear them too much. I’m glad this is helpful to you and can save you some money! Thanks for commenting!
@@LazyDWorx Even more so, your way of simplifying the replacement of both of the parts somehow instilled the confidence I needed to get in there and finally do it. Somehow I had convinced myself that the starter was somehow mysteriously buried within the motor itself, lol.

@@keithmccrary6121 I saw those and considered doing an install video of the kit. Looks like a well made kit. I do not envy you on this repair, good catch on the lose bolt and I've never figured out why some people take good care of their equipment, and others are just abusive animals, but I guess that's what pay's your bills. I also made a comment in your earlier video on changing the oil in this type vehicle about using the wrong drain plug. now that this one is disassembled if you would look at 16:46 on the counter at the crankshaft, then go down about 4" at 5 o'clock you can see the other drain plug I was talking about that's a lot easier to get to and less likely to damage it because it's metal where as the other one is plastic.
@@jackhutchins8272 Nice catch, didn’t realize that was there, pretty hidden. I have always used the front one on these machines. Thanks for the input, always looking for ways to improve these videos!
Just saying, That's not the drain plug you should be using because it's plastic and very hard to get to. The suggested drain plug in on the passenger side at the same level as this one, it's a 9/16' metal plug per the service manual. It's a lot easier to get to! Good luck
@@jackhutchins8272 Good catch, didn’t realize. Thank you!

Just discovered the same problem with a 2021 4000 I just got. Seems like a reoccuring problem
Yea I’m sure this will happen to most mules until the updated dipstick tube is installed. Hopefully this video can guide you through getting the job done 👍🏼
@@LazyDWorx Thank you for contacting Kawasaki. We regret to hear that you are having trouble with your recently purchased Mule. The dipstick may have became corroded by short tripping the vehicle. If the previous owner did not let the unit get up to operating temperature when they used the Mule it could have caused crankcase condensation to become trapped in the engine causing the dipstick to rust. Also not changing the oil frequently could also have played a factor. The dipstick tube was updated in model year 2018 to help with this concern. Your model has the updated part. We would recommend having the affected dipstick replaced and to get the unit to operating temperatures when using the machine. Please don't hesitate to contact us if we can be of further service. The above is what Kawasaki replied to me. Apparently mine had the updated dipstick, apparently it doesnt fix the problem
@@michaelbrown7387 That’s no fun, sorry you’re going through that. Best case is to install a new part and keep up on oil changes. How many hours on your unit?
@@LazyDWorx its all good. I sent them a letter more to let them know they got a problem. They didnt seem to receptive. Oh well, ordered a new dipstick and we shall see how it goes. It only has 70 hours

Great video.. very helpful. I have a 2004 RTV900 and it has a Yellow HHK70-14070 and Orange HHK72-14080 Transmission / Hydraulic filters. I've read that one is used in suction and the other in pressure but your using the same Napa 400013 filter for both. Any reason to use OEM filters over 3rd party? Wix shows two filters as well (WL10013 and 51367) but no description on their use difference
Most filters are made by the same few manufacturers, I have had good luck with NAPA but any reputable brand it a fine choice. I use NAPA because they were able to look up the filters for me so it made sourcing the filters easier. You could check WIX website to see what differences there are between the filters. Yessir thank you so much for this! I bought a 2024 Can Am Defender XMR and when they sold it to me I went ahead and paid another $1800 for a “24 Month Extended Service” and “36 month priority maintenance” and I called the dealer last week and they are telling me that the service isn’t free. I may seem stupid but I know when I bought the rig, they upsold this maintenance package telling me that the first 8 services were included for free, I called them and they quoted me over $700 for the service. Long story short I asked them to send me a breakdown of what the $1700 package (by line item) I bought and paid extra for even includes, everyone there seems to play dumb w me like they don’t know what I’m requesting to see. So I’m here trying to find out what all I would need to change if I have to end up servicing it myself. This is the first service at 300 miles (not heavy use) Has anyone here ever heard of this? What exactly did they sell me?
Glad this is helpful, thank you for commenting. 👍🏼👍🏼 I am not too familiar with options for maintenance/service plans, it could be something offered through the dealer or directly through Can-Am. You should definitely dig into what it is. Whomever sold you the product should be familiar with what they are selling, that is frustrating when you depend on the dealer selling you a product to stand behind what they sell. As far as your first service Cam-Am does not appear to mention a “Break-in” service, however, they are pretty standard industry wide. To be safe around 200-300 miles it is a good idea to change all your oils and inspect everything well, then after that the service interval is 100 - 200 operating hours depending on use. At the end of the day, it’s your machine, I believe it is in every owners best interest to learn about maintaining your machine, dealer can do a good job but most accounts I hear about where people have dealt with dealer the overall experience is poor. What kind of activities are you using your machine for?
Excellent video

Best video on a SXS I’ve seen in a while! The only thing missing is the Increased Interval of Inspection depending on all the Mods/Upgrades that 90% or more of the owners add before the first 50 miles and it’s the types that affect the most. These owners are going with lifts for clearance but mainly so they can add 32-35” tires that immediately impact HP and wear on the rotating & pivoting points and especially brakes! Then adding full sound systems and all the cool cargo racks and LED’s etc… With all the extra weight that would likely change vital fluid intervals plus add extra draw to the stock battery so they add a second battery (weight) and this isn’t even considering the size of the driver or all the stuff they throw in the back of the bed. Then we see them on all the platforms bashing their brand because of this or that and in the end it’s all because of them. Haha I’ve been wanting to put something like this together for a while but I’m glad you knocked it out so well. I do think that another video might be beneficial for people to know how all these mods & upgrades affect the baseline maintenance that you created here. Again, great video!
That’s a good idea, I will start thinking of how to put something together, a video that like really applies to so many more people. You’re right about people bashing the brands, at the end of the day if you own any machine you should take some time to learn about proper use and maintenance. Just out here trying to spread the word so everyone can have a better experience. 👍🏼👍🏼

I grew up on the South Island of New Zealand in the 80’s, my neighbour Mr Lambert had one just like this, absolute tank of a thing, he worked for the forestry commission I think, but his FJ45 literally spent none of its working life on tarmac roads.
