I want the legacy non-super warrior fighters (like Chi-Chi) playable. This disrespectful consensus only makes me want such characters more. I damn sure feel you on the topic of how people hyper focus on the strength of the fights instead of the character.

This is more of a cultural issue at large with how people are now. People are clout fiends, misinformed, overconfident, and has zero appreciation of anything for the craft. Like yeah some stuff is super unnecessary but still, I feel you on what you're saying. Like how many times have you heard people basically criticize spending money on good food with "Why spend XYZ on that. I'll just go eat at cheap garbage and get even more?" This is a mindset that's very prevalent in games especially.

Been watching high-level play of this game (or high ranked) and tournament clips. It doesn't appear that deep, interesting, diverse, or fun. Game has less character identity than any fighter I've played. The charm of the game is woven in the casual play, the single player, the fun with the boys. But every aspect of sweat in this game smooths out any character and edge the game has.

My favorite character is Yamcha. My other favorite is ssj4 gogeta because party poppers....I'm a simple man. My favorite villain is super Buu because the man literally had to shit and made his own outhouse. I unironically think Great Saiyaman is Gohan's peak as a character.

Ranked players are the worst, they're all a bunch of rage quitting bitches once you get to Z Rank and they always run the same boring characters.

ayoooo I heavily appreciate the shoutout man, especially the way you did it right there that's banger When it comes to the complexity of these games, be it mechanically or character-wise, misinformation like this has always been an issue, I started the Rambles series specifically because I had countless screenshots of people saying stupid stuff because it's just that common place. Of all the people who've ever touched BT2, at most 1% of players knew what a move cancel is, and even less knew how to properly apply them in-game. People mash square and consider themselves pros because the game lets them. And this is continuing in Sparking Zero, except that now with online, people start to realize that this was never viable and complain that "it's unlike Tenkaichi". I still have some issues with the game, SC and no ki blast cooldown for example, but as you said, the foundation is very strong, I'd argue with live service fixing problems like how CSGO did it, this could become a defining game in the Arena Fighter genre.

The youtube DBZ community has been garbage with people trying to seem hard or get cheap views instead of enjoying the game or engaging in any meaningful discussion beyond surface level shit involving either yajirobe or just complaining about stuff that will get fixed anyway. This video kinda seems incoherent, but I appreciate having this game, although it also kinda doesn't feel like Tenkaichi 4, it feels more like raging blast 3. I only get pissed at ki blast spam into ultimate since there's no counterplay. Maybe I haven't seen enough but the depth just doesn't feel like it did in bt3.

Sooner or later when the patches come to get rid of the constant dc’ing, and the average skill level goes up, all the braindead ssj4 gogeta spammers and ultimate spammers are gonna start getting weeded out

I liked playing as imperfect cell but people were being weird about them and rage quitting when they lost while playing as a fusion character or gods, I just like playing as lil goobers and just having a fun time but when I'm running into gogeta's and ui goku's that rage quit immediately after losing in a casual match

Has bro never played any other fighting game before? There are always overtly weak joke characters in almost every fighting game. They're put there for this exact reason, the devs want people who are poor sports to have a bad time and learn a lesson in humility. If you gon pick ssj4 you better be prepared to get your ass handed to you by a chiaotzu or Yamcha who just couldn't hold back anymore.

i only got into db less than a year ago, watched classic and getting through z rn, i love its up there with my top favorite one piece, i never played games like this till now and I'm not that good but its so fun i got 24+ hours in it, piccolo, and that wolf guy (idk who that is since I'm not in super yet) are who i play mostly, but i clutched a team match against gogeta as yajirobe with no health left i didn't even know about the senzu bean move lmao, i never underestimate any character

A large majority of Dragon Ball fans have only cared about power scaling for the better part of multiple decades at this point and i also happen to really enjoy a few characters who the community doesn’t understand because of it. Out of the major characters I have seen maybe 4 people really get what Gohan is about.

I wanted to look up a tutorial because I want to get better at Sparking Zero and watched a vid and I had to turn it off after like half a minute because dude in the video couldnt stop making unfunny backshot jokes. it is annoying, i havent been a long time fan of dragon ball, i never played the og tenkaichi games, but even i never ever rage quit, you get beat its cuz theyre better, sure if your chaiotzu againts ss4 gogeta, then its gonna be an uphill battle, but if your ss4 gogeta and get taken to pound town by krillin or someone else, then just get better, stop rage quitting enjoy the game for what it is and get better if you want people to stop beating you with underpowered characters, sparking so far has been one of those games i just cant get mad at, its just plain fun.

Well I'm sick of people saying "but muh competetive" when I point out the flaws in the single-player modes. People telling me to put down a game I spent money on because they are hoping winning at ranked will make their 🍆 bigger and so me not caring about the precious rankings is me being "trash". The AI in story mode either cheats or stops trying. It makes the experience less fun. Remember fun? I guess I suck at the game too much to have any if you ask these EVO wannabes. Btw Videl sucks because all her Blasts are rushes which can miss point blank. This game is extremely janky in places.

Interesting take on the stigma of characters in games. The first thing that came to me from my MOBA background was league of legends, i feel theres somewhat of a parallel to how you explained that certain characters are represented as "cool" when theyre the most masculine peak of man, etc. This parallels to League in a sort of way to how certain characters that have more unorthodox playstyles, or are picked in a role that they normally wouldnt be picked in, when your opponent is playing a character that is deemed more 'normal', if they get beat by the 'unorthodox character', they rage. My mind also started to drift towards Super Smash Bros. I feel like this coincides more with your explanation of Sparking Zero''s stigma. A lot of characters already pop in my head that just about any Smash ultimate player seeing would get a mean scowl on their face. Granted, I feel like its definitely not the same exact concept as you described, but i felt it was important to at least explain that this idea does not solely exist in dragon ball games. If there is a roster of characters for a game in which they can fight each other, dipshits in the playerbase will always find a way to whine instead of simply problem solving. Humans don't deserve PvP gaming.

My problem with Lily’s style of media analysis has always been her bad faith. I think it’s okay to have bad takes. Having bad takes is part of the process, and we should be respectful of it. The problem is that Lily doesn’t put forward her bad takes as a contribution to a wider conversation. She puts them forward as conversation-enders, persistently mocks and even tries to silence her critics, and insists she should have the last and only word. It is anti-criticism. She doesn't want to play the game of sharing facts and logic with one another as a continual process of learning and appreciating one another.

The fact that Lily still tries to defend her takes on the show she *actively* ruined the reputation of *while trying to stir shit up with other shows/media using the exact same rhetoric* is so goddamn infuriating. I'm so glad that people have been speaking up about Lily's video and others like it that tanked the show's reputation. I never liked those memes that popped up due to those like the whole "Steven Cries" thing or "Guess We Gotta Kill This Guy, Steven" (even if it led to a funny template for other characters), because they come from such a *hard* misread of the show/themes from an already disingenuous source.
