The lady at pet store was very right …..

it's basic knowledge that you have to cycle a tank before you can put a gish in it. You clearly did not do any research before you decided to do this. The worker was looking out for the fish because they clearly knew you didn't know what you are doing. Not to mention, if you don't want to spend the money to take care of the fish, you dont need it. Also what are you talking about buying chlorine for your fish, that will kill them! also 10 gallons is not actually outrageous for a betta fish. if you did any research you would know that. I'm literally half your age and know more than you do. Also you shouldn't put any fish in a bowl. if you did any research at all you would know that. Please stop impulse buying anumals, you are contributing to an actual problem. because you are a problem. You didn't even fill the tank up half way! you just put way to much of your "chemicals" in the water because you didn't even fill it up half way! how is your filter even supposed to run?? Also you have tk acclimate the gish tk the water!!! You ca t just put it in there like that. I'm so sick of seeing people treat fish like this. You wouldn't treat a cat or dog like that.

The Pet smart shop was very " smart ", it can take more than two weeks to cycle a tank, one of mine took over 6 weeks, you need patience and for god sake do research on how to look after the particular fish, parameters can vary according to species kept. If you are truly an aquarist, you want your fish to thrive not just survive. This whole video was very juvenile to watch.

Yeah, you are supposed to cyclone tank for two weeks or if you get the right kind of conditioner colour Quickstart can be ready in 48 to 72 hours. They’re just trying to help you see your fish don’t die not trying to be rude, but you’re not a very good fish keeper if you were denying help on the best ways to take care of fish, I would not sell you any of my fish in my store if I had owned the store, but there still time for you to learn always look up how to take care of maintain stuff before you get them

For everyone saying you need to cycle the tank, that’s not actually true because betta fish are one of the only fish you can put it straight away and there is evidence tomprove it. But at the same time you don’t need to disrespect the lady who knows more than you

"Because why not?" Seriously? No, because you can't just buy a fish. You have to do your research and Betta fish have a few requirements. And you should already have a tank, suitable for a betta fish, cycled and ready to go. But, no...just go and impulse buy a fish just to *buse it and give it a horrible life. I get people make mistakes, but that's no excuse when the research and answers are so readily available.

At least at the pet store the cups get water changes. She let her tank "CyCLe" for two days and didn't do anything with that cup water. Ammonia probably sky high in there. And her attitude and impatience is infuriating. I have had my betta tank for three weeks now with no betta at all because it's cycling and the plants are still coming in the mail. Do you know how many times I want to buy a betta from the breeders I am following online. But that's the thing, the fish keeping hobby is all about patience. Which she obviously had none of. The way she brushed aside that petsmart employee like she was just being annoying for not selling her that fish too 🤦‍♀️ Some people are just ignorant.

I saw everyone hating on this vid in the comments. I was going to give you the benefit of the doubt and watch the video first. I’m 8 mins in and can’t finish it. You and your mother are horrible human beings and I’m genuinely sad and scared that there are people like you out there. Even after you were educated you refused to grow. That is genuine animal abuse. Do better.

A betta fish does require a lot of care so you shouldn’t be surprised it cost that much because if you don’t pay much, it’s just gonna die better off just paying like 100 bucks for everything so can last like five years and also that looks like it’s unhealthy as well

I am going to get a betta, but I joined groups, am researching, and have a shopping list that includes a first aid kit, a complete water testing kit, an aquarium that is AT LEAST 10 gallon - size of an animal does not dictate what size housing they need!!! I will have a water heater, water conditioner, live plants that are safe for betta's, ornaments that will not rip my fish's fins/tail, hides, raw and frozen food. It is going to cost me at least £400 (499 usd)!!!! and I will cycle my tank for the minimum time required. Properly clean all the things that are going into that tank and aclimatate my fish when I eventually get one. No!! You did not do ANY research. YES you did get that fish before you even had a tank set up and NO that fish did not have the right PH level, water temperature, sized tank. Your fish probably became sick very quickly and you probably never noticed until it was too late!!! Shame on you!!!! You don't deserve any animal.

Has this girl never acclimated a fish before. all you have to do is hold the cup of water for about 20 minutes then you slowly add a little bit of water into it and wait another 20 minutes and then you do that a couple more times and then you can actually dump the fish in

Right when the Petsmart employees told her that the tank had to run for two weeks that is 100% true you need to cycle through for it to be safe and she just let it breeze right over her head and completely ignored her

You totally gave me comfort in knowing that I'm not the only one that thought it was ok to buy a betta and put it in a tank 1st day. Back in my 20s, I'm now 48, I bought a betta and put it in a bowl. Yes, because thats what we did in the 90s. No heateror filter. It lived over 6 months. I couldn't figure out why he was always jumping out. NOW I know why. Flash forward to 2023, I decided I wanted a betta. Holy moly I have learned so much on youtube. I'm currently cycling my tank, in 2nd week and preparing to purchase a betta when it's done cycling. The wait is killing me. Glad I decided to do research and not what I did back in the 90s. Lol... and yes its expensive. I'm already in over 300.00 bucks. Ha!

This is ick. Yikes. The employee have the right information and try to inform u the right way and not cruelty way of taking care of betta but u know what I believe I know more that betta don’t need 10 gallon but a bowl and u can just throw them in there without cycling

This pissed me off. “Buy a heater.. WHAT?” OF COURSE fish need heaters. Of course the tank needs to be cycled. Wtf is wrong with you. You should not get a fish.

Your fish needs to be aclimated first before just putting him in but I love the tank

I don't wait 2 or 3 weeks I use rain water and I put my fish in straight away people at pet store just want to to spend chunks of money on fish equipment
