Statesman Caprice HX

The H Series Statesman was General Motors-Holden’s response to fierce competition in the luxury car market. With the Ford LTD, Chrysler by Chrysler, Mercedes Benz S-Class and Jaguar XJ all competing for attention, the 1970s Statesman HJ, HX and HZ Caprice model was a highly credible alternative in Australia. Now increasingly rare, enjoy this magnificent 1976 HX Statesman Caprice survivor car. #...

Jaguar 420G Luxury Driving
Просмотров 99 тыс.4 года назад
When launched in 1961, the Jaguar Mark X was considered too large for English roads, yet too small for American. With subtle styling updates in 1966 the Mark X became the 420G. Production lasted until 1970. But that was not the end as Daimler’s DS420 limousine was based on Jaguar’s 420G floorpan. With production of the Daimler continuing until 1992, the Mark X/420G’s influence extended for a st...

Jensen Interceptor Mark 1
Просмотров 1,1 тыс.4 года назад
A tribute to the Mark 1 Jensen Interceptor. In the 1960s, Jensen Motors delivered a winning formula with Italian design, American power and British build. Between 1966 and 1969, Jensen produced only 1,024 examples of the Mark 1 Jensen Interceptor. Designed by Carrozzeria Touring of Milan and with the early cars built by Vignale of Turin, production later moved to West Bromwich in the UK. Music ...

G'day! HA, thank you! It's an absolute pleasure showing off what's just a stone's throw from this wonderful city! S1 Daimler XJ6, now that's a beautiful automobile.

My husband & I ran a 1974 SWB S2 for 30 years. Despite being considered the least desirable of the XJ6 series, we found our S2 to be a delightful car that never let us down. The car was used as a daily driver & to tow our race bikes to interstate meetings. Our car did not have air-conditioning or power windows. Being an early S2, the engine was the same as a S1 with 2" SU carbs. My husband did all the repairs & maintenance as the car was so easy to service. Several years ago we replaced the S2 with a XKR & a X300 as we needed air-con as we got older. Our car was extremely original & in excellent condition. My husband did fit a heavier front sway bar that made the car corner much better without upsetting the brilliant ride. We ened up selling it for the same money we paid for it all those years ago. We both prefer the ridee & handling of the S2 over our current X300.

That is a beautiful slice of an XJ S2 life! It's a hard decision, classic cars are so very elegant, but in the heat of of summer, especially an Adelaide summer... despite the beauty of the air whipping through as you drive to your favourite spot... the temptation to have a classic car with air condition buries itself in the back of the mind.

Congratulations Martin, I cannot begin to tell you how very much I enjoyed watching this spectacular video you’ve produced! Just WOW! I have just purchased an absolutely stunning 1964 Jaguar S Type Saloon that’s been the subject out of a comprehensive 6 year restoration by its previous owner & I couldn’t be more thrilled with it! I live in Tasmania & the countryside around me reminds me so much of the glorious Adelaide Hills, with beautiful wineries & magnificent old pubs dotted along our popular food & wine trail that is also sprinkled with quaint little towns as well. I must ‘cross the moat’ one day & visit your beautiful part of the world & do a road trip in the Jag, that would be SO special & such fun! Keep up the great work mate, I’ve just subscribed to your channel & I look forward to seeing more fabulous classics showcased exactly as you have here with this stunning Series II XJ6! Cheers!

Thank You! WOW, that 1964 S Type Saloon would be right at home touring the beautiful spots, not just in the hills but all across SA Wine Country. Just to compare the Adelaide Hills to the absolute treasure that Tasmania holds is a most honourable compliment you've given us!!! We've got the next episode in pre-production, and as a fellow Jag lover, i do believe you'll be captivated with what's coming next :) Absolutely, when travelling the Adelaide Hills in a Jag, we can recommend a pairing of a ever so slightly peppery shiraz to go with a classic Jaguar interior :P

@ oh how simply DIVINE that would be! My lovely Jag is finished in spectacular Opalescent Silver Blue with cream leather interior, so I guess I’ll lean towards a nice sav blanc to go with mine! 👍😜 Your next episode sounds exciting indeed Martin, I can’t wait to see it pop up on here! Cheers!

Well how lovely...and relatable! I live in the Adelaide Hills and am the custodian of a series 2 which has been in our family since new. The word 'saloon' perfectly descibes them and they are an absolute pleasure to exercise (except when its hot!). I look forward to the next instalment, perhaps with a little more content given to the cars and their story. Good to see our hills being promoted in this way.

Hahaha, you nailed it, when it's 38 degrees out, despite the Jaguar engineers thinking of everything... it feels they didn't quite foresee their artistic work travelling through a late 2024 summer in Adelaide :P You've read our mind, with pre-production underway, we're interweaving the car's story into our locations and landscapes instead of keeping them separate. We're excited with the development, we look forward to finding out what you think with the new angle :)

Indeed, Chief Engineer George Roberts...he who insisted that every Holden from HQ to HX had vague sloppy slow steering, wallowing ride, painfully inadequate braking stability, and rode like a Cadillac. Fortunately this was his last effort before being replaced by Peter Hanenberger, and RTS suspension. Overnight, full size Holdens rode, handled and stopped properly, all the while with the style and class of the Statesman's. Thanks for the upload 😁👍

From the side it is the most beautiful shape Jaguar ever designed. The rear is beautifully sculpted but the front with its bulbous sides was controversial. However the 4 main lights were iconic and as for the interior sumptuous is an understatement.

That was the same bloke that was in the HQ Statesman adds. Much has been said about the Fairlane and it's dominance in the market. The Chrysler too got a lot of attention because of it's towering performance and smooth Torqueflite transmission. Looks are a personal thing but I reckon the Statesman was far better looking than either of those. Facts from the day also suggested that it's standard of finish and build quality were of the stuff that Ford and to a lesser extent Chrysler could only dream about.
