TOS Season 1: WHITE HANDLED PHASERS - RARE VERSIONS
Im about to attempt modifying an AA phaser with an all metal parts kit. Ive seen a couple videos several times and took a lot of screenshots and saved pics enough i think i might can do ok the first time. Thing is mine is a black and white and for values sake im trying to decide whether to leave it as a black and white or paint it a different color.
Brings back memories of growing up in the sixties has a child Star Trek was a big part of it.
This is amazing.
Nice review, very well done! Although I don’t know this to have been the reason behind it, I would like to point out that having both audio and visual lighting indications of which mode the phaser is set (ie practice, control or effects) would be very useful to those who are either sight or hearing impaired.
Hi, I have a Phaser II replica I paid about $100 for at a ST convention in 1985. It appears to be very high quality but has no moving parts except for the Phaser I which is held in place by Velcro. How much would you say it is worth now? Thanks.
Always thought that the phasers not having signts was funny.
Very cool prop thanks sir
great review Ernie
Good job on the lights!
Deep Space Nine and Not on the Holo Deck
Changed after a lawsuit? haha, Ya Think? I mean, 23 Cent Pistol Kit is a little on the nose but I can respect the effort.
I’m pretty sure the Star Trek generations movie playmates Klingande disruptor, have the exact same to sound effects, except the gun looks completely different if you look on the Barrel portion and the tip On the tip section, it’s replace with transparent red plastic that stuff use an inside it is a incandescent tungsten, Bulb that is irreplaceable and incandescent bulb. Weston routed through the speaker line coming out of the blaster so every time you press the two of the buttons, the Boba flash in time with the sound.
Spock could've just simply used or google up Edith Keeler's orbituaries on the Internet instead of using this primitive tricorder device, since that he already came from the 23 rd century. Lol! But yet, in those days, the so called technology was such that people were still using stoned knives and bearskins. 😅😅
I have that phaser collectible, a bit disappointing that a red light was used. Don't have the steady hands anymore to change the light. I did paint the pistol grip to bronze, filled in the screw holes. Made a stand for it.
I've got a none working 1 sent to me any ideas battery contacts etc clean as is the board and build is fine
I ended up cutting a passage way into the upper deck floor for using the ladder and I cut out the portlight by the main entrance.
AWESOME.
Very informative
I need the remote
Very IMPRESSIVE! Simple and yet very effective. Thank You for sharing your inspiring achievement👏
Can you sell me one?
Hello Ernie, I started following / watching your videos around 8 years ago. Your professional built Star Trek Phaser (s) models are outstanding in my opinion. I actually purchased a ST-TOS season one Black P-2 with a removable Black P-1 & White Handle Phaser from you around 6 years ago. I still have that phaser in my collection of phasers just like you have a collection of phasers … lol. Your attention to detail by adding light / sound effects to your phasers inspired me to buy a few of those 21st Century ST-TOS Phaser kits. I decided to try my luck at building a season two ST-TOS PHASER from the techniques you showed everyone in the videos. There was some trial and error at first but I caught on real fast after that short period. I have built a few nice phasers over the years from what I learned from your videos. I truly wanted to say THANK-YOU for posting your videos and sharing your experience on model building. * Live Long & Prosper * 🖖 G-MAN 🖖
I have that 23rd century phaser and it is very fragile not sturdy.
Looks Fantastic !
If I remember correctly, my original Starfleet Technical Manual did show that as a Dilithium chamber on the side of the Mk II Phaser.
Please learn to pronounce the letter "T". Oh, I guess I should say the leh-ur "T" so you will understand. When you refer to METAL pieces you say "Meh-ul". Are you a Neanderthal? I would love to hear you pronounce that word. Can you even properly pronounce the word "Neanderthal"-there are two pronunciations & each involve the ability, when spoke, to use the letter "T." Have a great Veah-a rins Day tomorrow.
If only the entire human race could be as perfect as you are when it comes to linguistics.
These look Amazing!! The details are incredible!
Good work.
Bravo my good man.
Lost in Space
I have seen a few of this fellows videos. I do like his videos, but I came back for one reason each time! I LOVE THE WAY HE SAYS METAL!!
You got all wrong it was DS9 it was a time travel episode
Nice
I have a resin one of these kits. It came with all the parts in resin plus extra parts made of aluminium. The handle attaches with a socket and plug arrangement that twists to lock. If anyone can still find one of the kits thats all in plastic or resin they could use Alclad on the "metal" parts.
any picture of your LED inside what it looks like, trying to find one. Thanks
How did you cut out the bottom of the ship ? Looks like a pukka job
All of this printed?
As primitive (by today's cgi standards) as they were, still some 50's classic sci-fi movies have managed over the decades to endure, as well as endear.
Nice model. I believe Bob
Really would have liked to have seen DST tackle this one.
The aspirator grille on the WC Phaser is a speaker grill. It doesn't sound significantly louder when raised for precisely this reason. When raised, you'll notice there isn't any appreciable gaps revealed to allow sound to escape. It is all coming from the speaker grill whether up or down. On the sounds: most prop Replicas only offer a handful of sounds and the authenticity and quality fluctuate greatly among them. The WCP has very good sound with volume control and additional sounds for fun. Setting One is Heavy Stun, while Seven is Low Stun. Six is the ship's Phasers, while Eight is the Bridge console firing sound. These sounds are additional to the standard set and I don't understand the critique of then, nor the BE colors.
I just got a WC Phaser Remote and the Beam Emitter/Barrel assembly works fine and properly, and is a jewel of a feature that every WC Phaser owner should experience. In the 'closed' position (rotate CCW looking directly into Beam Emitter), the inner male cone mates with the female cone bore of the outer Beam Emitter. This position represents the short, snub-nose BE of the first season. Rotate CW from the snub-nose position will extend the BE out approximately 3/8" to represent the long-nose BE of the second season. This feature is often missing in Prop Replicas. I think many WC Phasers suffer from aggressive rotation of the barrel by new owners not realizing how this works and that many either strip or jump the internal threads at the runout and thus, lose this function. It is possible to re-mate the threads from a jump by applying gentle downforce (from the long-nose position) while rotating CCW to achieve the snub-nose position. It could also be repaired by a competent machinist-enthusiast with a respectable reputation. As a very longtime Tool & Die Maker, model builder, sculptor, painter, CAD & 3D Modeling Designer & Draftsman, I can certainly appreciate all of the nuanced details that you have pointed out in this video. However, the WC Phaser 1 & 2 are accurate to a Greg Jein-owned screen prop - including the matte sheen to all aluminum surfaces, the large window above the barrel, the rear heat sink spacing and the black trigger under the P1. Go to TMustachio channel and see the four-part "P2 Autopsy" to see this screen prop and others
You don’t know the new trek do you. Trials and tribulations was a ds9 ep and they actually went back in Time to the early trek
The Wand Phaser is so accurate that it actually was used as THE prop throughout the eleven episode run of "Star Trek Continues", a show that is so well-made in every detail from top to bottom that it has earned the right to be canon.
Why do we need to know the brand of paint and tape you used? What does that have to do with anything?
Why do you call it a UFO? It's not. It's a flying saucer.
The base turned out good
Even before you suggested it, I've cruised all the different RUclips reviews extant. Yours is unique in its unapologetic, informed, and obsessive attention to detail. Good on you, mate. Very helpful as I'm getting ready to pull the firing stud on a high three-figure Wand. Several times you made a well-observed observation on the reflectivity of metal parts. You are certainly correct that this is not screen-accurate. I feel that the relative dullness actually adds to the realism and believability of the phaser. Best. Leo.
You can get a much more realistic rocket effect by combining red and orange flashing LEDs. They don't flash in sync so it looks like a flame rather than just a blinking light.
Welp 2021. And the government is finally telling the truth..
