@jamesbyrne3033 I started in martial arts at 8 years old with karate. I went through karate many years and then switched to Kung Fu,. In my mid-thirties I went to Wing Chun, then jeet Kun do. Later I tried taekwondo and I hated it. I beat everybody as a white belt lol Now I have friends in boxing MMA UFC. These are far superior styles. @@jamesbyrne3033 In the modern world, martial arts... are some kind of hidden charlatanism in themselves Because the masters of antiquity (according to the legends of the martial arts themselves) killed many people in hand-to-hand combat But the last 3-5 generations do not do this, and therefore the technique, if it was, has degenerated and turned more into dancing Even if special forces teach how to kill, then the basis is firearms, and martial arts are more like a means of last chance if you run out of ammo or someone suddenly appears close

@WayWeary That’s blatantly false. They’re real people demonstrating some common techniques, like ones that you might see if you ever attended a real martial arts class.

@JorgeCastro-qh8vh Aikido, a martial art where the goal is to de escalate and reconcile when met with conflict. Vs MMA, a game where that outcome is made completely unavailable by the rules of that game. If you want to see aikido techniques used successfully in MMA, you can. It’s called Jujitsu.

It’s exactly the same principle as countering a jab with an upper cut. Is that bullshit too?

In Aikido classes helps with the moves that involve grabbing the clothes
