This solo doesn’t get mentioned often in guitar mags but personally I think it’s genuinely one of the most iconic solos of the era. And btw, seeing replicated perfectly like that just farken blows my hair right back. That’s perfect.

I saw her with David Bowie (headlining), I think it was at Werchter festival 1997. Bowie had re-invented most of the songs they played, what a creative energy! Of course Gail Ann nailed every bit of the bass part. To be honest: I was not a huge fan of Bowie at that time, but liked the fact to see this live for the first time. I was blown away by the complete re-creation of the songs an the magnificent band, with a prominent position for the base of it all: Gail Ann Dorsey 🙂

Gail Ann Dorsey is a KILLA bass player, a fantastic singer/songwriter with an amazing voice. I've had the pleasure of seeing her with David....the two of them had a super special relationship on and off stage. Their version of 'Under Pressure' makes my goosebumps get goosebumps. They were perfectly suited for each other.

Gail Ann Dorsey is super talented as a singer, songwriter, all around musician and a KILLER BASS PLAYER! I've seen her with David a number of times and they complimented each other perfectly.

I Love Gail Ann! She is awesome! I've seen her numerous times with Bowie! (I miss Bowie) 😪I once saw Lenny Kravitz open up for Bowie at the Los Angeles Dodgers Stadium. This was when Lenny's second album was released and OMG! Lenny was like this close to stealing the show. Bowie and Lenny jammed together on the last set. They performed the John Lennon song "Cold Turkey" It was such an incredibly outstanding show!

Apart from Bowie of course, I believe her finest hour to be her playing on the live 1,2,3 Soleils in Paris 1998 with Khaled, Rachid and Faudel.

She is pretty beautiful in the real sense of the word beautiful. Noone could ever replace her. She's an honest humble woman who earns her day and peacefully shares her musical gift with all who care to listen. Listen.xo

Though it likely pays well (and I can certainly understand and appreciate that), I would imagine that it can't be easy to go from playing with someone as cool and genuine as Bowie to someone as phony and dreadful as Kravitz.

Nothing against Lenny Kravitz, but due to her contract with him, Gail had to turn down being musical director of David Byrne's American Utopia. That would have been so amazing.
