People keep saying the Hapsburg painting “is him when he was younger and they repainted it.” That might be the story the royals’ PR got art historians to believe but his body grew significantly and his face actually got a little smaller. It doesn’t make sense that someone with such an opulent lifestyle would paint over a painting instead of just having a new one done. It seems beneath royal standards. Either way, it’s obvious to most people the shorter version is not a painting of child and the second one is clearly more flattering.
