Bangladesh fought against Pakistan for liberation in 1971. There were a total of 52% quota where 30% were secured for the war veterans and their families. The protest started for the reformation of this system. In the 1952 there was a protest against Pakistan to keep bangla as our mother tongue as Pakistan tried to impose Urdu as both the constitutional and mother tongue of the whole country where most of the people from West Pakistan spoke bengali.
