What is it about winter flying that makes it so enjoyable? Is it the brief respite between winter storms? The calm crisp air? Or can one look ridiculous while battling the low sun and cold temperatures? Does there have to be a reason? As anyone flying a 2-stroke knows, it is vitally important to manage the engine temperatures properly or, things can go pearshaped very quickly. See if you can sp...

Another great flights. Having read your video content I think taking notes after each flight and revisiting them for any improvements is a fantastic idea. I must do the same when paragliding. Again great video 👍
You would be surprised how much you miss/can't remember after a flight. Especially during those critical times.

Good to see you up, if even on a so-so day ☁️ How’s the new panel working out for you?
It is great and a pleasure to fly with. Still have that minor issue with a bad earth on the OAT that I haven't fixed yet. Waiting for more bad weather LOL
Hey nice one fred
That flight was long overdue. Was rather disappointed when I arrived at the airfield to find it covered in fog. Glad I waited it out.

Nice upgrade! Would have been good to have a bit of a talk through what you’ve done and the positive impact.
Easy. Got rid of a mountain of wires, multiple random earths, switches all over the place and unknown locations of multiple fuses 🙃 oh, and the best of all, a 35 amp fuse for the landing light... photos was really more of an afterthought that really documenting anything
Nice one Fred. A very professional job .Looks fantastic. Well done.
Nice work Fred. What are you using to measure the fuel contents? it there a capacitance or a float in the tank?
@skyrangerswift2ireland will be a float. Tank was too full to do the job at the same time. All the wiring is done, just need to install the sender.
@@lifesajourneyclub Nice! I'll pop up soon for a look! I've a fair few 582 engine parts spare so give me a shout if you ever need anything.
Nice work!

Voel ook beter.
Congrats on the new Panel Fred ! 👍 Really appreciate your videography as well 😊 Looks like your weather is the same as here ☁️ except of course we have more Christmas Trees 😝 An upgrade like this really gives a motivational boost, eh ?! Happy flying 🦅
Like a new aircraft. Can't wait to go back and do a bit more. Some fine-tuning that needs to be done.
another great video. i was surprised at how well xairs handle crosswinds. very stable for such light wing loading. i don't like turbulence too much though , it really kicks hard in the xair, compared to when i was learning in a jabiru anyway.
The more I fly her the more I enjoy her. Very forgiving and stable, but don't dare neglect that rudder!!
Another fantastic video. Really enjoyed watching it . Well done Fred .

I'd like to find out it on my bike!
You are flying in truly beautiful countryside. But without hours of flying over it, I could get lost pretty quickly. Thanks for the video. I have an X-air F that is being put back into flying condition after a years long break. Your video gives me impetus.
I am not a local when I started flying here. I could not tell you how many times I got lost but you learn the lay of the land. Mine was parked up for around 4 years as well. Done a hell of a lot of work on her to get where she is now. Get her flying safely and then do the cosmetics and nice to have stuff later.
Beautiful parkland Once known as happy valley before work commenced to build the dam ,the birds left hence renamed the silent valley it provides water for large parts of Belfast and Country Down
Interesting. Didn't know it was originally known as happy valley. Wanted to go a bit lower, but there was some rotor coming over the ridge and that would have left me with no "out" if I got into trouble. I have seen how quick things can go wrong if caught in rotor.
Cool video love the xair
Bonjour et merçi pour ces belles images Salutations!!!!!
Very commendable, the joy you give to other people is your reward, I used to take seriously ill young people for flights over the city ,one just liked being in the aircraft but not leaving the ground so we taxied around the airport, one of the best things I’ve ever done
Fully agree with you there. I prefer to focus on mental health though. Taking someone for a flight, sharing with them my story and how I cope with mental health is just out there. Life's a journey, enjoy the ride!! Unfortunately not many flights done this season. Weather is not the best and taking someone up in windy gusty conditions is generally not a good idea.

Greetings ! Am a 🇨🇦 Canadian 🇨🇦 UL Pilot who’s been following your Channel for a bit 👍 Just bought a 2007 X-Air Standard and will be trailering it across the country in early October. Very few of these on this side of the pond, but our eldest daughter lives in France and of course I am VERY familiar with this type and also the Hanuman from there. Question for you. Wondering why you don’t forward slip your landings from a higher angle approach? Seems to me with a fairly draggy airframe such as the Standard you could come in higher over the trees and slip almost to the runway. Just curious 🤔 This is the method I learned in the old RX-550 Beaver UL I learned to fly in back in the late 1980’s (YES, I’m old 😳😉🤣) Thx 👍
Two words, my Canadian friend. Bad habit! And that needs to get fixed before it bites me in the arse. My flying career also started in the early 80s on a Cessna 150 in South Africa, but life got in the way and I had to start over...
I follow your channel. Always a joy to watch. I too have an xair. Can I ask exactly where and how you mount your camera for that view? Best, John
John, I have a strip of aluminium at the very front of the overhead "window" where it is bolted onto the frame. That places the camera above and slightly in front of me.
i don't even need to look at the asi to know my xair is approaching vne. the ailerons get heavy to move. why do they do the vne check. is it to show you are aware of it.
That's a good question. I can understand the first time following a build or major rebuilding but no idea why it is an annual requirement. Pointless and dangerous if you ask me.
@@lifesajourneyclub i agree. why stress the airframe if you don't need to.

Great video once again . 2 weeks ago I was flying toward the ocean on a calm day and dropped from 2000 down to 1200 ft to pass below another aircraft. It turned out to be a fishing boat.😁😅
Exactly what happened to us. I kept looking at the "aircraft" coming straight at us but it is not getting bigger at the rate I expected. Was so disorientating. As you can see, we had a good laugh about it.

lovely day. fred what is the highest airframe hours you have heard of for an xair. the reason i ask is when you look at how much the fuse tube flexs at the tail feathers, i wonder if any have ever cracked. mine looks fine but its hard to tell with aluminium. mine only has 399 hours. 2004 build.
Mine LOL Currently sitting at 565 and still going strong. Haven't heard on any issues with the tubes. Heard the elevator brackets on both sides do crack.
