Great video! I have always considered Third Stage as the best album ever recorded. I bought it when it came out in 86. As a young drummer I cut my teeth playing along with it well into the 90"s.

Fun fact, Metal Magic predated Kill Em All. and man, I just do not agree with the whole "Ozzy = glam" deal. Did he use LA/hair metal musicians? Yes. Did he write songs about sex drugs and rock & roll? Yes. Did he wear some very questionable outfits in the 80s? Yes. But I firmly place Ozzy in the trad/classic metal camp.

I've got a question: are going to witness a Hair Metal renaissance in 2025?

The fact is that the Abner we saw in most of the film was a robot phantom made by the real Abner we see at the end of the film. Early in the film Calvin says to Devereux that he isn't acting the same. That he has changed. Give me your opinion on this hypothesis friends.

I've only recognised their first fourth albums and I can say that they are all A tier (for me) They all great in their way. Also "Prelude: Song of the Gulls" is a amazing piece, keep that in mind. And yeah great tier list video

Great video. I watched all the Kiss videos, which are great, and halfway through this one I see this only has a thousand views. That’s too bad, your essays are great and I love your editing style.

Creatures of the Night was my entry point on KISS, I bought it when it came out in the UK and was blown away. I followed that purchase with Alive2, Destroyer, then Lick it Up a few months later which was the first time I got to see the band on the live UK stages. The Elder was my next purchase and I LOVED it. Every song. I was a teenage schoolkid, and listening to a lot of British neo-prog rock and this album was refreshing, and a VERY different take on what KISS had put out before. I loved the drama and the theatricals of the songs, and 40 years later it is STILL the third in the canon for me.

@22:19 the person on the left is not Stephen Perry/Lizzie Grey, that is Rik Fox... he was the original bassist in WASP, and went on to play in Steeler with Ron Keel and Yngwie Malmsteen...

KISS was at their height when they appealed to young teenagers. I was 14-16 when the LP's 'Alive' thru Alive II came out. I was a member of the KISS Army. I saw the first and third shows at the LA Forum in Inglewood August 26-28, 1977, where they recorded most of KISS Alive. For me, I lost interest when, during that third show Cheap Trick opened and overshadowed KISS. Gene Simons hair caught on fire that night, which kind of broke the fourth-wall. KISS truly became irrelevant once The Ramones LP came out in 1977 which showed us the way as we left our young teens.

Crimson is one of my favorites! Especially the Fripp Wetton Bruford era. Definitely looking forward to seeing this.

Fun story: When I was in high school, our local pops orchestra would regularly bring in name performers for concerts. I had tickets to a show featuring Judy Collins, but she got sick the week of the show. They called in Helen Reddy as a replacement, and no kidding--she kicked ass there too, with only two days to rehearse new material with the musicians. I will always be impressed by that.

What put me off of Third Stage back in the day was the album cover. It is such a weak cover. The first two Boston album covers were huge and in your face, and Third Stage was just... far away and small and so much empty space. It just sucked the energy out of it. It was like they put the back cover art on the front with all the blank space for the track titles and legal stuff just left vacant. It's like... look at the front cover of Journey's ESCAPE, and then look at the back. Now imagine they put that back cover on the front. I just don't think it wolud have sold as well.

Disco comes from Motown and soul music with a different drum beat.also rock was invented by largely white musicians. It was never black.

You mentioned Prince gettingBooed off opening for the Rolling Stones. I saw that !. October 11, 1981,L.A. Coliseum, about 10 Yards from the stage. If you ask me , Prince asked for that response.
