I always wondered what was best. Ive been doing it with the water, but is dry better? Thanks in advance.

      I caught 2 dozen this morning off my dads dock, kept them alive the whole day with just a brackish water soaked rag in a bushel basket, moved them into a cooler with ice packs at the bottom a towel in between and drove 2 hours back to my moms. Got home 30 minutes ago and only 1 died, use ice packs and they’ll be good for days

    I have used a 5 gallon bucket dipping water from the environment, putting frozen water bottles in for cooling, and a little minnow bucket bubbler aerator for oxygen to keep them alive on the bank in the summer. Any thoughts on this method? The bad thing is that it's a lot of heavy bulky stuff to carry very far.

    This video made me curious about the product, so I bought a bunch and had a great experience. Mine were stainless steel, not nickel plated. I have to say, the speed at which we were able to rebait allowed us to go home with the biggest and earliest bounty yet. I find the time savings to be the return on investment. I think this is a genius product, and a simple innovation sorely needed. Thanks for the awareness, man!

    Hey Mumbo Meister! I’m the female crabber (new Subscriber) you spoke with on one of your other vids:.. Do you offer any kind of In-Person Crabbing Consultation 😂 where I could perhaps pay you to look over my boat and/ or help me with the prop stick setup… I’m just a little nervous about how exactly to affix the prop stick to the boat without damaging the boat, and making sure it’s reinforced enough so the pvc won’t break…. I’m also not sure what kind of motor to get to make sure it’s long enough for me to comfortably steer with one hand while netting with the other….. just have some basic questions and I don’t want to mess up and could use some guidance if you offer it…. And I’d like to know what boat and motor combo would be best before I go get it if possible… I was thinking just a 12-foot Jon Boat with a trolling motor so I don’t t have to worry about gas… I’m in Baltimore but would be willing to travel to you once I secure my jon boat…. Or if not, perhaps I could just correspond with you if you’re willing and/or able… Thanks for the great videos

    Great video, thanks for posting. I used these tips to come up with a scheme to keep a dozen big crabs I caught alive and pinching for 48 hours. I used an old 54qt Igloo cooler and started by adding a layer of ice at the bottom. I built a shelf out of scrap plywood that fits inside the cooler and set it on top of the ice. Then I added a layer of wet burlap on top of the plywood. The ice lasted about 24 hours this way. I left the drain closed to keep the water in to help with the moisture. I added the crabs on top of the wet burlap and gave them a little spritz with the hose so they started out nice and moist. Now for the “innovation.” I took a damp towel and draped it across the top of the cooler but UNDERNEATH the lid. The towel sags in the middle. In that sag I put a cup or two of ice. As that ice melts, it drips down on the crabs and burlap adding to the moisture. I replenished this ice when necessary. I propped the lid open slightly with a thin dowel and used a bungee cord across the top to keep the lid closed. This scheme kept the crabs moist and at 58 degrees.

    any idea why when I start running my line, it starts ok then starts coming up from behind the boat as if I'm over driving it or the line doubled over itself while on the bottom? I was barley moving when this happened.

    • @JohnJohn-wr1jo
      @JohnJohn-wr1jo Год назад

      Your weights aren't holding the bottom and your dragging them. Even if it's only a few feet at the start it puts slack in the main line causing it to fall behind the prop stick/roller. Easy fix is to use heavier weights that hold the bottom. This is one of the biggest issues that I see newbies struggle with. That and attempting to run the line too fast.
