    Kahr has a devoted following (as evidenced by the comments). I purchased my .40 used do I didn't experience the problem referenced in the video. Most YT gunsmiths would recommend a 200 round range visit just to become proficient with ANY piece. Thanks for the Video!

      Correct 👍🏼 being proficient with something you’re gonna carry and trust your life with is always the right decision. I understand the argument of 200 rounds is expensive nowadays, but being proficient with something you are going carry and trust your life with is worth spending the money on some ammo to practice. It’s a good investment.

    Do you know when post lawsuit what serial numbers they started at?

    • @GunsmithBeard
      @GunsmithBeard 4 дня назад

      I was trying to find a serial number range for you, but can never find anything. I do know these were called GSG5’s before the lawsuit happened. German sporting guns change the name of the gun from GSG5-22 to GSG 16. The receiver on the GSG5-22’s are metal where the ATI-GSG 16s are plastic. Also on the trigger group on the GSG 16’s. They have a weird texture and on the selection marking are colored with a selector with a yellow dot, they also change the stock, it doesn’t look like an HK part anymore, and it holds a magazine.

    • @GunsmithBeard
      @GunsmithBeard 4 дня назад

      Yeah, I think Apex tactical makes some of the best triggers on the planet for Smith & Wesson pistols specially the M&P series. I know Apex went after Glock triggers, and it wasn’t successful the first couple years when they were first released they had tons and tons of problems. Plus there’s tons of other vendors that have really cornered that market well.

    M1 Carbine was primarily developed to replace the 1911 .45 caliber pistol, which was hard to master, and serve along side the M1 Garande - not at all tp replace it. The M1 Carbine was much easier to train rear echelon or support role troops. Front line troops were later issued the carbine.

    Thanks for the video! Been searching for a 22 LR pistol and really loved the look of this gun. However, I have been debating and debating on if it's worth the trouble. I'm talking about purchasing a new Firefly. I feel like even if I polish the feed ramp and use quality ammo, I'm still going to be disappointed in the way GSG handles their problems. I see no reason to purchase the Firefly when they haven't made any attempts to remedy the solution other than '"Springs". There's too many other great guns in this price range without dealing with the issues!! I was actually also looking at the GSG 1911... 22LR. Not so sure I want that one either!! Thanks for the good information on the company! I think it's important that gun owners need to know who they're buying their product from.

    • @GunsmithBeard
      @GunsmithBeard 8 дней назад

      I own several GSG .22LR pistols, and the one that performs the best is the Sig Sauer 1911-22 or the GSG 1911-22, which is essentially the same gun with different trademarks. This pistol shoots well and is super quiet when suppressed, and it's very accurate. I won't compare the GSG pistols to the Ruger MK pistol because that would be like comparing apples to oranges. The Ruger MK series target pistol shoots incredibly well! I plan on featuring these pistols on my channel this year so you can see the differences.

    • @GunsmithBeard

      The OEM is 17lbs RS works okay but a 19lbs works perfectly. I didn’t replace the striker spring, wasn’t needed for tuning. Red dot is a HAVEN Red Dot Sight 5.0 MOA Dot Reticle Black Brownells #100044007

      @iragoldstein6404 15 дней назад

      @@GunsmithBeard so even with a brake/compensator a lighter RS is not the direction to go in...My g34 gen 3 with an Agency Arms comp wouldn't cycle properly without dropping the RS to 15# & 5# striker spring, and I'm wondering how adding a trijicon RMS would effect the springs equation... primarily using WIN 124gr. FMJ NATO.

    • @GunsmithBeard
      @GunsmithBeard 15 дней назад

      I couldn’t agree more there’s tons of bad information about suppressors/silencers. It’s nothing like the movies unless you’re shooting a 22 long rifle which is insanely quiet but the issue is everybody thinks that suppressors make your gun sound like that and it doesn’t. But it is a ton of fun to shoot suppressed makes it a whole lot more enjoyable for everyone involved.

    Thanks for purchasing a PD10 and sharing your thoughts! A couple of things: 1. I wouldn’t want to suggest that 9mm won’t work out of a barrel shorter than 4 inches, but as you noted, the extra velocity helps. More than that though, I really think that an extra half or full inch of barrel and slide weight out in front of the hand can make a big difference in the speed of follow up shots for most people. The longer sight radius doesn’t hurt either! 2. The symbol on the optic cover and the back of the grip is a “Triquetra”, which is the logo of my training company and represents the combination of our core tenets “Integrity, Consistency & Efficiency”. 3. As to my background before teaching full time, I was commissioned as an Officer in the U.S. Army Reserve, but almost immediately went into the IRR in the mid 90’s and was subsequently honorably discharged. I worked in full time law enforcement for a few years before starting my teaching career in 2001, but I also maintain a reserve law enforcement role for over 20 years until the politics of pandemic response got in the way.

    How are you liking it? I’m thinking of picking one up but really want a tack driver. My 527 and 452s are and I love the set trigger on the 527

      The 550 is amazing! Out of all the rifles I built this one shoots lights out, sub MOA.

    I've got a couple Taurus model 65's one made in the late 70's and a newer production one, my newer one has recently developed a lot of cylinder play, the old one though is on par with any Smith Ruger or Colt wheel gun I own.

    I got the BRN180 version with a 16” 350 legend upper for deer season and it’s been almost perfect. Fit and finish is excellent and it cycles extremely smoothly. With the stock upper and the short buttplate it came in just a little shy of 26”. Since I don’t want to deal with NFA paperwork for an SBR stamp, I have to run the extended butt plate for now, but even with the extended plate the length of pull is usable, and I’m not a big guy at 5’5” 140lbs with little tiny hands. I did purchase a flash hider that brings it just over 26” with the short butt plate, but I’ll have to have it pin and welded to be legal. I also noticed that while the a3 tactical hand guard does fit, it needed to be shortened by about 5/8” to line up correctly. (5 seconds at a chop saw) I love my build! It’s super fun to shoot at the range, but I bought it as a compact deer gun off my motorcycle, so I can’t wait for this fall!

    Is shield arms the way to go? I thought the PSA dagger magazine was better since no changes are required. What are your thoughts comparing the 43x to the p365xl for those living in a state that only allows 10 rounds?

      I have heard that as well. I would say it would go to route first before doing part swaps. I haven't had any issues with mine but I do understand that point of view.

    They were made perfect. Then they were made cheaply because of the hiccup.Remington was going through. Now they're made perfect again. My newest wingmaster is very impressive.

      I heard the Dakota Arms is actually making those for Remington Arms. I know they were doing all the custom work for Remington for years but since I haven't directly worked in the world not sure if that has changed.

    the shortest barrel length used to be 4 5/8, which is what you measured. you "looked it up in the database" where they no doubt have there current lengths. 2 things changed about this revolver in 2017. the barrel was changed to 4.2 inches for easier conceal carry, and the cylinder was partially machined to accept moonclips so that it can fire 45acp, in addition to 45 colt. when you said "this was introduced way back in 1979", thats true of the redhawk, but it was initially only available chambered in 44 magnum. for disambiguation for viewers who may perceive that you said "the redhawk in 45 colt was introduced in 1979", no, not even close. it was after 1990 before the redhawk was available in any other chamberings (like 41 mag,45 colt, and 357)

    Thanks GSB for sharing.. I got the 18 inch foxtrot and ran into the same problem. I don’t think that’s a fault on our end because I don’t remember the website saying anything about bolt lock need on the uppers they sell. The price you pay when your the first generation. I still plan on buying another one to build a sbr for a truck gun. Imagine a 556 or 300 blackout fn p90… 😂

    Ive owned my SI RRS since 2016 or so and have put about 9,000 rds through it installed in my modded FN AR-15 16" 5.56 × 45 nato M4. The thing seems to work well but ive had issues. At about 4,500 rds i noticed the 2nd stage buffer components had seized inside my buffer tube. It seems the yellow polymer "bottoming cone" thingy had expanded from repeated impact and seized within the brass sleave and caused the failure. The rifle was still operating just fine as the main buffer component was unaffected. I contacted SI and promptly received a new polymer 2nd stage buffer assembly. All was well for another 4,500 rds or so but just recently i discovered the same issue had occurred. This time i chose to remove the buffer system and return to the standard buffer for a few reasons. First of all, while the RRS proved reliable and effective i found that it doesnt provide enough spring pressure as the BCG goes into battery. Often while manually cycling the action i would discover the carrier would bounce back and settle just out of battery. While the bolt was securely home, the carrier was held about 1/16" or 1 mm to the rear. It required just a slight bump on the forward assist or even a slap to the receiver to send it home but the spring pressure on the carrier in the in battery location and the initial stage of rearward travel was insufficient as it feels about half that of the stock buffer system. I never had a malfunction during firing but that was a bit disconcerting. Second, while the RRS operates very smoothly and quietly, and very well may have a softer feeling recoil impulse, i cant really say its an improvement. Recoil CAN NOT be reduced by a buffer system after all. The recoil impulse can be MODIFIED, by spreading it out over a longer or shorter duration in time but it cannot be reduced. Not by a buffer anyway. The RRS does feel different. It does make the rifle feel a bit less snappy but its hard to say if thats an advantage. And after the two malfunctions and the issue with the spring rate in the initial phase of recoil, i just think id prefer the original standard FN buffer. Both my FNs have the smoothest and quietest stock actions ive ever felt anyway. Theyre practically silent and buttery smooth. So that wasnt a need either. I will say as far as the malfunctions go, that i believe it to be caused by the use of relatively soft nylon or polymer of some type. I guess it could be considered a "normal wear component" and due for replacement every 3,000 to 5,000 rounds. Or perhaps a redesign is needed. Perhaps change the compound to a stiffer material or use aluminum instead. Im sure SI would replace my 2nd stage again if i chose to contact them and i may do just that in the near future. But for now im parking the RRS and rocking the tried and true Eugene Stoner original. Would i recommend the RRS? Not for duty and definitely not for combat. But for recreation/target shooting and or competition, sure. I think theres enough there to have value and it just may offer enough advantage to warrant the price of admission, which btw is quite reasonable. I think i paid $125 or so for mine. It was definitely less than $150. Anyway....thats my 2 cents.
