Canon Pro-100 B200 error resolved! But no secret tricks - just a ton of patience/trial & error.
Unfortunately, no secret tricks here - just a ton of patience/trial & error.
First, I got the print carriage released (see prior video) and made sure all the print cartridges were full and had no issues. Then, for the next couple days I unplugged the unit and let it sit for extended amounts of time. Before plugging the unit back in, I held the Power button down and continued to hold it down as I plugged in. As you plug unit in and continue to hold the Power button, you'll see the Power button continues to flash and then eventually shuts back off after about 30seconds. Once the unit is off, press the Power button again to Power back on and cross your fingers it begins the normal power on c...

Canon Pro-100, B200 Error Code, How to release Print head carriage. Still no resolution of the error
Просмотров 3,7 тыс.Год назад
Full disassembly is not required as I do in the beginning of video. Fast forward to the 6:40 to see the "quick" solution to remove the side panel and cut a hole to get to the release mechanism. This video does not resolve the B200 error, but illustrates how to unlock the printer cartridge carriage without having to disassemble your entire unit (like I did before learning the trick). Thank you!! I followed this and cut that plastic piece out of the side and it took only seconds to free the print head. Canon has some work to do on their products. I have a Canon iX6800 with the same issue. The take got absolutely stuck in the corner with the same error. So frustrating. Thanks again!

    WORKED FOR ME! Got the dreaded B200 Error. Powered off the printer. Unplugged from the back. Waited 30 seconds. Held Power button in while plugging power cord into back of printer. Held the Power button for 60 seconds. The white light was on the whole time but no mechanical movement or sounds. After 60 seconds, I took my finger off the Power button and the light went out. I waited 30 seconds, pressed the Power button once, and the printer came on, went through its usual startup routine, then all was well! No alternating white-orange lights. Printed perfectly!

    Absolute giga Chad. I tried your "hold power button for 30 seconds" about 2 times, as well as removing the ink and printhead and reinstalling it and the Pro 100 came to life. You are the man!

    It is a Canon scam, because their error message says that there is a hardware failure and to take, or send it to a Canon repair center, no mention of resetting the printer by yourself.

    I've been having this issue for years and as stated in this Video it CAN be resolved ... it's been hard to pinpoint the exact proceed but I feel like I'm getting closer. Here's what I think is the possible cause... when the ink cartridge set too long, the dry ink continues to clog the print head... if you clean the printhead (see this how to video on RUclips: (ruclips.net/video/exc7eNzbDKI/видео.htmlsi=4tz3CK7L1Xh7xxbF) and continue to use the same cartridge the error 10 code could happen again. its best to replace the cartridge or clean the old one before resetting the printer. With that part out of the way, Unplug the printer until the next day.... the next day while holding power button... plug the print back in ( holding the button for about a minute) let go of the button and right away hold it again for about a minute again and then release. That worked for me twice already that's when I decided to clean everything before restarting the printer again. Good luck to all experiencing this pain staking encounter .

    Just wondering if I'm the only one who noticed the power plug area in the back of the machine doesn't feel very solid? I wonder if it's related. I also had issues with one of my refillable ink cartridges not connecting well before I God the B200. But I cleaned the connector prongs with q-tip and alcohol then put in a manufacture ink instead and it worked fine then next week (cause I print every week) it threw up that error again and now nothing I do will help. 😠 I did run it low till it started getting banding but I've done that a few times and never burned out the head nozzles or anything it's just frustrating

    I have found a much easier way to get the print carriage to move when I got the b200 error, since I had the same experience with it locked in place. First, with the printer on, open the top bay door (the one that leads to the cartridges), and the front door that lets the paper come out when printing, AND that little one just in front of that. I really hope this is making sense, sorry I have no clue what these things are called). Then, unplug the printer with all these doors/flaps open. Plug it back in and then QUICKLY shut them all. Your printer will start to do its normal cycle before it "realizes" it has the b200 and starts blinking and being unresponsive. In that time, the carriage moves, so you can open that top door again after a moment and reach in and grab it and pull it to the middle. Unplug it again when its in the desired location so it can't move back, and there you go. Worked for me. I still have the b200 (thats how I stumbled upon this video), but at least I can make that part easier for you.

      On a whim, decided to pull my PRO-100 out of the closet after more then 3 years of it sitting and collecting dust. Encountered the 10-blink error code. Googling found my way to this video. I thought I was going to have to open my printer until I read your comment, which worked perfectly for me. I didn't have to unplug, I just opened the main door (the one that gets you to the print head/cartridges) and the output tray on the front. I pressed the power button to turn the printer on, waiting maybe a second or less, then shut both doors. That worked, it started moving gears, so I re-opened the main door and saw it moving the print head. I was tempted to grab it but let it continue doing what it was doing. Took about a minute of it making noises and starting up, but it finally moved the print head over like normal for me to see. At this point, I didn't have to do anything else, the printer was working normally at this point. Even managed to print a photo that didn't look half bad, which is impressive given I've had ebay ink sitting in this printer for over 3 years without it drying up. Thanks for the comment, it helped a stranger today. Even funnier, you just posted it 5 days ago. :) Great timing.

I called Canon service today and they told me it was a wrap for this printer. I had this printer in storage for the past 3.5 years so I will now use it at least every 6 months. Let's hope it prints!

Clarification, I held the power button down for 60 seconds, then unplugged it, waited for 30 seconds while holding power button, plugged it in and kept holding power button for 60 seconds, released the power button, waited 30 seconds, then pressed power to turn it back on. Did this cycle 4 times before it worked, then connected to ethernet and was off an running. Thanks!!

    Hi all. After turning off the power to the printer for about 4-5 days and plugging it into the mains, it came back to life. but only worked for one day. I printed excellent photos, and again got error b200. I touched the print head and pulled it in different directions, and it came to life again for one day. I didn’t use the printer for several days, but today I needed to print photos, and it gave me an error again. but the trick with the twitching of the head no longer worked. I suspect that there is some problem in the electronic part of the print head. perhaps with some kind of capacitor, because when the printer sits for a long time it apparently discharges and everything starts working again. Maybe someone knows what kind of problem this is and what component is giving the error?

    Thanks for the video. Have you ever had to replace the print head carriage itself? Is it very difficult? Have you ever seen any video of the process anywhere? THanks

    • @wgpid
      @wgpid 6 месяцев назад

      I have never replaced the print head because the print head is really expensive and there's no guarantee it will fix the issue. I'd rather invest in a new printer, then spend so much money on a print head and find that it still does not work. If you do decide to replace it, it is actually very easy to do. You just flip the lever to the right side of the carriage and you can pull out the entire head out and swap with the new one. Occasionally, you might decide to remove the print head to inspect it and clean it if there is too much ink build up on the bottom.

    Hi! I was just curious how this printer has been holding up since you made this video? I've owned my PRO-100 since 2020 and it has always given me flawless, highly saturated 13x19 prints using genuine Canon cartridges for a few months and then switching to modified original carts (C/O Rick Johnson) and ink from PrecisionColors. A few weeks ago I got the B200 error for the first time and was luckily able to get it to clear by unplugging my printer and holding the power button down. I then printed a single 13x19 print (again, flawless as usual) and a shipping label a few days later. Then it got the error again. I went ahead and bought a new set of cleaned Canon ink cartridges from Rick, installed those and printed two more 13x19 prints (one yesterday and one tonight). I then tried to print a third and got the error again! Tried this fix that worked for you (holding the power button for a minute), my printer powered up normally and I just got another print made. Because I have never had a single issue with print quality and have only needed to a print head cleaning once during the entire 4 years I've owned this printer, I don't think that the printhead is at the end of its life. I did find another case where someone bought a brand new PRO-100 with a sealed printhead, installed the printhead in their old printer and STILL got the B200 error. I know that a lot of artists and photographers still use and stand by the PRO-100 and I'm hoping I'll be able to get a lot more use out of mine. I bought and sold Epson 13" printers for several years (1400, R1800, R1900, R2000, R2400, R2880, etc) and, while they printed amazingly when they were working, the inks would clog in them even after a week of not printing anything. After not printing anything on my PRO-100 for over 4 months and then getting perfect results as soon as I did use it again, I was ready to stick with Canon for life! Aaaaand, I wasn't intending to type a novel here but hopefully it will help anyone else who finds this video and needs some encouragement. I'd be very interested to know how much printing you've been able to do since resetting yours and if the error has come back or not. Thanks for sharing your experience and tips! :)

      Hi, Since I made the video, I have not had the issue again (fingers crossed), but I've owned the printer since 2014, and definitely had the error come up a few times over the years. In the past, I was able to unplug the printer and let it sit overnight and then it would get back to work the following day. It would work fine for a random duration of time, and then the error would occur again. There never seemed to be any rhyme or reason to why the error occurred. I've been using generic cartridges since 2017, so those do not seem to be the trigger in my case. This was the first time letting it sit unplugged did not work and I had to take such drastic action to rip the printer apart and do multiple unplugs/restarts over a few days time, to bring it back to life. Because it will often reset itself after a duration of time being unplugged, I am convinced it is a software/hardware bug that Canon probably knows about but cannot fix with a simple firmware update (or I would assume they would have already). The B200 code could not be more frustratingly vague and equals = "something is wrong". If it were a cartridge issue, paper jam, over heating, alignment, etc. - you'd think a specific error could be conveyed that would help users target the issue. B200 is Canon's code for they screwed up something in the hardware design. And the followup message that you should bring it to a repair shop and spend more money then the printer cost to try and resolve the vague error is ridiculous. I'd replace the thing if it wasn't so reliable when it does work. Great quality, love the 13x19, generic ink works perfectly - why rock the boat and get another printer and start all over again? Good Luck staying B200 free!

    How i fix my b200 error temporary. Some times it will work for days or just a few hours. 1. Take out the inks. 2. Unplug power cable and leave it unplug for 24 hours. 3. Power on without ink. 4. Put ink back it. 5. If the error goes away use as normal if not repeat. 6. Repeat as needed.

  • @Robert-ul6tm

    One more thing. Rick Johnson sells recycled cartridges that are originals. Get a second set of those. You know everytime you replace a ink cartridge the printer consumes ink from all the rest. If one cartridge needs replacement put in a whole new set. That stops a continual single replacement and the wasting of the other colors. The newer printers are still in the works as to what can be done with 3d party inks and ink purges. Spend sometime researching what you need and listening to the pit falls others are getting into before you end up trying to fix another printer.

    I have one of those too. But, mine is still fresh, because I learn everything I can about them before I turn them on. So, I joined Jose Rodriguez's site, jtoolman photo techie and the canon pro 100 group on facebook. I had a Epson 1430 and clogged up the print head. So, as I was working through that I bought the 100. After a couple of weeks I realized that my lack of printing would likely destroy this canon head because it is a heated system. So epson came out with the xp15000 and sadly that was just before the ecotank 8550. I noticed the xp15000 was on sale around Christmas for 299. CDN. plus tax. Jose has archived individualized videos on the 15000 and the current models. Epsons use a pressure system which is more forgiving than Canons totally. The key with the 15000 is buying some software to disable the ink monitoring system effectively making it chipless. The cartridges are small but you can run ink into them and just reinstall them. Most 3d party ink users in north America are using ink from www.precisioncolors.com/. Also we are using qimage for it many uses including a programable printing time to keep your head functioning. But it is all planned obsolescence isn't it? Why park the head above the waste ink tank? Instruct the printer to move to the center for cart. Replacement. As soon as it unlock from the dock, unplug it. Make a micro fiber soak pad on a thin piece of plastic, soak it with windex. Move the head gently over this. Your going to have to play to get the right thickness. So leave the printer for some time. Or you could slide saran wrap under it and cover as much of it as possible. With all printers air intrusion dries the head. So, buy a plastic cover to protect your investment. Jose doesn't want the manufacturers on his ass so he has all but cut me off. If I were you I would get a pro 300 pigmented printer and look into pigmented ink from permission. Because I don't know how long you intend your prints to last. The 15000 is very good, cheap and for less than 500 your good to go. That is hundreds less than anything else. Oh, the 15000 comes with a removable waste ink tank as well

    I came here with the same problem. I was able to fix it immediately. Here is what I noticed. I moved, so my printer was boxed up and recently unpacked. It worked fine before the move. I powered it up and got the flashing white yelllow and b200 error. I noticed the print cartridges were parked on the left side of the printer I powered everything off and gently pulled the cartridges to the center I then held the power button and plugged it back in I kept the power plugged in for well over a minute and then released it which powered down the machine I then restarted it and it went through it's start up sequence and finished by moving the cartridges to the right (not the left as they originally were found) So the power button down while plugging it in is some sort of reset and I think is the print assembly not being in the right place caused the error. I also made sure every ink cartridge was seated properly but they seemed to be okay so maybe not a factor. All good now So thank you. My printer is working except for me it only took a few minutes.

    I have watched 3 of your videos, I have not seen the grey lines you are supposed to be fixing. I have P2715Q that started with a grey section making up about 1/4 of the lower left screen, it would flash/blink a little or be continuous. Or it might go away completely for various times 15 minutes or an hr. At one time 2/3rds from the bottom up was grey. As I write this it is working properly, but I'm sure it will come back.

    • @wgpid
      @wgpid 2 года назад

      It sounds like you might have an electrical issue. The grey lines described in these videos are very faint and usually cover a majority of the screen. They do not turn on/off, or disappear over time because the issue is the physical diffusing sheets that are incorrectly positioned inside the monitor. The screen is 100% usable, the grey lines are just incredibly annoying when you're staring at the monitor for a long period of time as it adds a "texture" to anything white.

I went through 3 monitors before I found that it was the incorrect order of the physical layering of the sheets behind the LCD that caused the problem. No amount of usage in my example would correct the problem of the sheets being in the incorrect placement. Once I changed the order the problem was solved immediately.
