Orthene is 50% Acephate, a powerful pesticide. The other 50% is probably powdered sugar, as the ants eat it and feed it to the queen. She then dies along with all the workers, destroying the entire mound. I make my own “orthene” after buying 1lb of acephate (~$25) and mixing it with 1 lb of powdered sugar. Sprinkle a traspoon full on every mound and the fire ants love the stuff…..and are all dead within two days. My mix provides 32 oz of 50% Orthene-like powder at half the cost of authentic Orthene.

Old post but for some reason or another, fire ant hills are appearing all over my yard, some quite large. I dust the mounds just like this guy did and the next day all are dead.

I use it alot in my yard. The one thing i don't like about it is that it smells like someone farted in it.

For the thicker rods, just drill a tiny hole in one clamp, then insert a large paper clip, bend it into a hook, and let the rod lean against the hook to keep it in place.

Well, the wow effect from people who switched from Shimano to Daiwa, is very common. The first thing that generally catches attention, is the smoothness of the reel. The second thing is the line layering, that's absolutely perfect. I switched to Daiwa in 2004 and never bought a Shimano again.😅

Yall This is my go to ant killer. I had ant beds for years and my neighbor never cared to the point where I started going in his yard and putting it on the ant bed myself. My last year living there a large and I mean large pile came in the summer. I had been there for 7 years. Why did I watch the worker ants dumping it out of the pile. Me and the kids were in shock and amazed. I wished I would have recorded it but its like they recognized it and went into defense mode to ensure the powder did not get inside. I had to get a stick and poke deep because they were picking the powder up and dumping it. Nature is amazing I swear!

Looks like the Costco version does not have the tray/ table but they are about the same price.

I live in Vegas. I have wasp that go into the grass over the summer to drink and possible eat bugs. Wonder if this will work. Either kill their food or kills the wasp.

I had a grub problem in my yard. Put down Triazicide down and watered in lightly. Next day the ground was covered with dead and dying grubs. Not bad for $10 or so.

Is this ideal for ants inside the house? I only have a general idea where they are coming from so I wouldn't know if sprinkling this on the side of my wall is smart or safe.

So it only kills on contact? Once it dissipates, it no longer kills?

Will it kill chinch bugs?

If you have crazy ants, I bought Intice 10 granules and sprinkled some near them. They immediately started carrying off the little white granules to their nest. I came back to check on them a couple of hours later - GONE!

I'm gonna give this stuff a try I bought the two Bags on Amazon for only $13.00 Dollars we have a major problem Year after Year with Moles we've tried everything from Traps to Poison to Sonic Spikes to Juicy Fruit Gum and we still see lots of Mole Hills. We used Milky Spore Grub Control in the past and that worked for getting rid of the Moles but Milky Spore is around $50.00 Dollars a Bag and I'm not really one to spend a lot on Lawn Care so I hope this stuff works just as good as Milky Spore did.

I’m no expert…seems like removing the piles of dead grass where all the bugs were living might help alleviate most of the problem, why give them a place to live, just sayin. 🤷

What is your water pressure because I’m pretty sure anything over 70 pounds is not good for any hose except for maybe a high-pressure one
