Sometimes, things don't go as planned in the Badlands... Trying something new here. Started as a short SFM gag to just make something quickly. It turned into something I'm sorta proud of. I'm still learning how to properly produce an SFM animation. This ended up being a test bed for slightly more complex editing and rendering than I have tried yet. If all goes well, this should become a series....

Great work! I'm curious why when he said "nuke" he didn't purse his lips for the "oo" sound.
Honestly I cant remember. I usually prioritize the lip sync before I do any other animation to make sure it's as good as it can be. I vaguely remember that scene being frustrating. My guess is the facial flexes just wouldn't allow it. The model wasn't really designed for close up facial expressions I don't think.

I love Gordons blood shot eyes, and wild facial expressions. He really does look like a man who's been through hell for 3 days straight. Fueled only by Coffee, a bag of bad Diritos, and enough drugs to kill an elephant.

No idea, I think the canon of Gordon even having a helmet is uncertain. In half life 1 though, his box art and in game model have the pony tail. In hl2 he doesn't.

I really like the attention to detail with Gordon taking gear from the soldiers and putting them on his person. The canteen is what stuck out to me initially because it makes sense, like of course Gordon would get thirsty.
I actually never noticed that the gear has a canteen on it lol. I'd just sort of stuck the soldier gear on gordons suit so he could put his ammo away realistically, but I like that you pointed that out. I bet Freeman's mind Gordon would have loved to have that in the serise, though he'd probably complain that it wasn't vodka instead.

I would love to, and I have done a lot on a project for another one, but I've barley touched SFM the past year. I'm one of the many creators on here who has had that "real life" stuff happen and my focus has really shifted. But hopefully I'm getting to a more healthy place and can work on it again in the near-ish future. No promises though :s Thanks so much for enjoying my vids. The way Gordon's face is animated makes me think you studied Ross's mannerisms, because his face moves in very similar ways. Super impressive
Honestly I think it's just how that freeman model is rigged. The expressions just turn out like that. Maybe someone at Valve did though? >.>

So several things, one, its amazing you went for accuracy on the MP5 used by Gordon in game, the other, I like the straps ammo harnessed over the suit, there is something about despite having a full suit be it power armor or not, there is still simple straps on the other side, its simple but me personally, no idea why I like it or find it charming.

Thank you! It's been a while so I'm not sure, but I think all the gear and stuff Gordon has on comes from a infantry pack on the steam work shop, that's what the soldiers are from. I just took the straps in that model pack and put them on Gordon. The slings are also from the workshop I think.

It depresses me how slow production has been over the past few years. He once said if he was any good at improvising he would have been done with the series years ago. I can't imagine what it's like to have absolute originality through the same gameplay for every video.

Thank you so much! Not sure why I didn't think of that. I guess I was just working with the models on hand. I belive I made most of this animation in a bulk session, only closing SFM to import a custom map for the Nihilanth. It would have been better if I used those guys for this though, good suggestion.
