    I’ll add one little bit to your “reason for the off arm”. It’s also the point of anchoring the back shoulder in place as much as possible. The faster your can slow down the back shoulder, the greater the whipping effect of the lead arm (assuming you get to a good power pocket) It’s the physics of the whip. The speed of the snap at the tip is a function of the change in momentum, so you need to slow down the back of the whip as quickly as possible (after initiating the motion) in order to get the maximum velocity at the tip. Watch slow mo of Garrett Gurthie and pay close attention to his back shoulder which nearly comes to a halt after he makes his off arm move.

    • @GingerSnapDiscGolf
      @GingerSnapDiscGolf 13 часов назад

      That’s a solid break down of the logic behind the off arm, I agree too! The off arm definitely acts as an anchor and helps the whipping effect of the lead arm! Double G absolutely smacks the disc, and has a unique form too..

    I'm 50. I've thrown a 450 foot shot with a RH forehand shot, downhill, skipped past the basket on a 420 foot hole. It went into some shrubs. Didn't have a good putt. Made par. So?? A far shot won't get you accuracy, but sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. 😉

    I’m working on some form and want to give the “carry the briefcase” a shot. I’m worried I won’t be able to get my wrist back to a clean release at hit point. I also do not want to “turn the key” due to fear of turning over too much. To find consistency what are you thinking about during your throw? I know that’s a loaded question, but just curious your thoughts. Currently I’m doing a pour the coffee from the beginning to end of my throw. Flight plate facing outwards. Briefcase reach back is complete opposite (flight plate towards body). I’ve heard this will also help with keeping elbow out.

    • @GingerSnapDiscGolf
      @GingerSnapDiscGolf 12 дней назад

      Hey! I have heard of the carry the brief case, turn the key, and pour the coffee and those analogies typically didn’t help when I tried them. I do think the idea of having the flight plate toward your body during the coil and pull through will help with clean releases that are nose down from my experiences! When I am throwing I am thinking about staying compact and coiled until I feel my plant foot, then I am thinking about watching the disc as I pull through high(elbow up)! Side note: when I am thinking about coiling I am only worried about coiling my shoulders backwards how far backwards depends on how far I want to throw! Does this help or answer your question?

    here's a couple nuggets for distance: turn around more in the xstep. Extend the disc straight back. Start your pull at the same time you stomp your plant foot. Pull through above your nipples. The fastest distance I added was after weight training pulling a weight like the disc throw until I'm too tired to pull, every day for a month. I'm throwing my TL3 400' now and I'm just 5'10" with noodle arms.

    • @GingerSnapDiscGolf
      @GingerSnapDiscGolf 15 дней назад

      Thank you for the nuggets! I like that idea of pulling weight like a disc in a pull through motion, like maybe resistance bands? 400’ with a TL3 is awesome too btw!

    • @robertjones1730
      @robertjones1730 14 дней назад

      @@GingerSnapDiscGolf no on the resistance bands, they are easy at first and increase as you stretch it. You need consistent resistance through the entire pull to work the muscles right. I built a ramp out of spruce 2x10s that goes from the floor to hip height and a rolling carriage that I put weights on. I pull the carriage up with a rope attached to a disc so it mimmicks the throw perfectly. This way you are exercising the exact muscles you use to throw, including your core. On your throw, through the whole motion, fight to keep your head looking in the direction you're throwing, this will help coil your body prior to the pull and that's 10 less pounds you have to rotate in the throw. 5 things happen SIMULTANEOUSLY when you stomp your plant foot. 1) stomp 2) left armpit grape crush 3) hip rotate 4) tuck chin into right shoulder 5) pull You can practice this timing without throwing by standing on your left foot (pointed backwards 45 degrees) and dropping to the right to stomp your plant foot. When you get this timing correct you'll see a big difference on the distance.

    to develop muscle memory you need a minimum of 20-30min in a session. and then a 24 hour gap and good nights rest to ingrain that into your brain and body allowing you to forget and write over the bad muscle memory. This phenomena is why people feel like they are better when they quit something for a week and come back to it. practicing every day for 5min-10min is a waste IMO

    • @GingerSnapDiscGolf
      @GingerSnapDiscGolf 15 дней назад

    I would love to have some drills to do, but I haven't seen any video or write up that provided any drills specifically designed to work on a specific aspect of throwing form. I have seen plenty of tips for aspects of form but nothing providing a specific practice drill for improvement. I throw hundreds of field shots every week and the only improvement I've had is hitting a fairly consistent line with decent nose angle, but very little distance gain. 300 ft is an, "every now and then" thing, and when I do get one out to 300 ft, I (1) - can't point to anything specific that made it possible, and (2) - am rarely able to repeat it right away. I have felt the whip and snap thing everyone talks about a handful of times, but it also falls under 1 and 2 above. It's extremely frustrating because I feel like I am putting in the work, yet I'm still searching for my "ah ha" moment. Everybody talks about how it should feel effortless, and form for "easy distance." I'm over here dripping sweat, throwing crates of discs, screaming, "WTF are y'all talking about?!"

    • @GingerSnapDiscGolf
      @GingerSnapDiscGolf 15 дней назад

      I know that same feeling unfortunately, I felt that for my first 1-2 years of trying to learn form and distance! I do want to encourage you to let you know it is possible, so don’t give up! I would suggest getting a slo mo of your form from the side and comparing that to a pro to see what you are doing wrong. For example it could be, over rotating or rotating to soon, bad release timing, elbow dip, not getting your legs into the throw, off balance, etc. once you figure out specifically what you are doing wrong you can find drills for that concept or mechanic you struggle with! I have a good amount of drills on the channel that talk about many common mistakes that take away distance!

      A leopard is fun to learn with. Also a Buzzz and a Mako3. Those are what I started with. Tried to jump up in speed way too soon and went back to working with those until I got the form and angles kinda down. About a year in now and where my arm speed is at the moment, I don't like to throw anything above a 9 speed as I live in high elevation and anything over that usually is just overstable. I average around 275-320 feet on my good throws. RUclips has some awesome videos for learning.

    you think some of the other color combos would be less beefy? i bought 2 of them to support gavin and i dont have the arm speed like you but to me the blue and green one seemed to be the most overstable out of mine but then again it could be me not being consistent

      I wouldn’t surprised if that were the case! I don’t quite understand what causes it, but it seems to be very common for different colors to cause different stabilities.. if the blue and green are the beefiest that makes me feel better too 😂
