Thank you for uploading this! I have this album (the vinyl!). I have always loved Ralph Carmichael's arrangements. I especially love the arrangement here of "When He Cometh". We don't sing this song any more, and how many would even know the meaning of it? Easily one of my favorite albums of any kind… …an inside-look into the heart/mind of Mr. Carmichael and the wonderful musicians who served him.

In my youth, I had this song on a 45 rpm record. Brings back wonderful memories . Would love to see this movie once again. God bless you all.

There are some parts of this arrangement that especially bring its distinctly-Jewish quality and thoroughly refute the persecutory claims against Handel. I myself found out from (as I recall) a nonbelieving Jewish person that Handel’s father was a Jewish convert to Lutheranism (My recollection is that she wasn’t exactly thrilled to share that fact.), and Handel therefore certainly both refuted Luther and demonstrated that Jews can and do believe in the very-Jewish Messiah. Even the Max Spicker arrangement published through Gustav Schirmer may have missed some of that quality because (as far as I know) Max Spicker died in unbelief in the very same year that he published the arrangement, even though his working with “Handel’s ‘Messiah’” should’ve given him enough exposure to the Gospel that he would’ve been more interested in it. I also am not aware of Max Spicker knew that Handel was Patrilineally Jewish. If Max Spicker himself was aware that Handel was Jewish, he likely would’ve refused to recognize him as Jewish simply because he believed in Jesus-and being a Patrilineal Jew is often not recognized as being Jewish among most, as the heretical Rabbinic tradition that recognizes only Matrilineal Jews was adopted all too quickly under the guise of simply recognizing the children of Jewish women and Roman men as Jews. For Handel, any arrangement of his music that brought out what he was not allowed to fully express in his days would have probably been an unexpected step that would have pleasantly surprised him.

The cover art really needs some help. There are some times when you use a capital letter with a return, sometimes you don’t.. apparently, the typesetter got really confused or was high on something. But hey, it was the ‘60s.
