NEW PB SNAPPER - Kapiti Coast fishing
In this one I start off by heading out the back of Kapiti island where I catch my personal best snapper (72cm/16lb).
Followed by another early morning change of light fish where I got into a bunch more good snapper.
Enjoy.

EVENING GURNARD SESSION IN THE SHALLOWS - Kapiti Coast

In this one I spent a few hours in the shallows targeting some Gurnard. No snapper around due to the colder water that the southerly had produced but some nice Gurnard were caught so can't complain. Enjoy

HAPUKA IN 11FT DINGHY + MOTOR BREAKING DOWN 15KM OFFSHORE

Bit of an interesting one where I started off the day with a nice pup hapuka and shortly after the motor broke down and I had to wait hours for a tow back into shore. Also added in another trip from 6 weeks earlier where I managed a couple nice snapper.

Hey bro just letting you know, theres starting to be lots of big snapper out kapiti today you should try make it out this aftternoon
@@colts_Pc good to know mate, we went out deep targeting groper this morning just got a big John Dory. Back in now but hopefully heading out again Wednesday👍
@@N.S-fishingdivingoutdoors Oh nice work! My dad is out now, and has caught lots of snappers and 2 20ibers
I'm an Aussie who lived in Shannon for about the last 4 years and just by looking up at the Mitre and experiencing the weather at 65 metres above sea level in Shannon that this Aussie boy should not attempt any stupid trek past the golf course at the end of the street.
Nice vid mate. I've tried posting a picture in the comments but can't seem to do it - talking of the magical 50cm mark. My mate and I went out with his friend the other day and he shot his PB at 49 and was miffed he'd just missed the 50. Mate and I went out again on Sunday - Sth Coast near Cave Bay, and both of us shot 52's.
@@iainbrownoutandabout9188 damn that’s some absolute monsters aye. I’ve definitely seen a few round Kapiti but they’ve been a bit too smart for me🤣
Bloody awesome mate well done
@@dwhatsfishing cheers bro🤙
Good video Awesome

This weather makes me want to sell my boat lol
Yeah man it’s been tough but this afternoon was beautiful even glassed off
Vis looks good bro merry christmas
@@SHNTRU cheers bro you too
Too much mybro 🔥🎣
are you just leaving the micro jigs down>? while using berly
@@nzfisherman yea mate they love em, even got a big snapper this afternoon on a micro jig with burley
mean bro ,we have done pretty well the past two weekends at about 30 -35 m both times got a nice bin full of snapper ,gurnard and got 1 big trev then caught a big mako straight after the trev .
@@North_Island_fishing2024 awesome mate good on ya, maybe I need to go a bit deeper for the snapper the 5-10 metre mark is producing plenty of gurnard and trevs but not huge amount of snaps
@@N.S-fishingdivingoutdoors oh yup , im hoping that some kings show up over the holidays as im tying to catch my first one over the holidays while im off skl
@ awesome, I’m gonna be hitting the north end at some point too to try hit that big kingy🤞
do you know ben Kendall, I was out on his big boat on your last video I seen you parked up by the island getting ready for a dive.
@@roofless1440 nah haven’t heard the name, I do remember seeing that big boat go past tho. You catch much that day?
@N.S-fishingdivingoutdoors a few butterfish in the set net and dropped off about 12 cray pots that was on the Wensday he went back out Monday because the weather was pretty shit, I was at work, but he got a bunch of crays
Still to early for the berley mish ay bugger Awesome vid as always pleasure to watch cheers
@@SHNTRU cheers mate you’ll still get a few sharks with Berley depending on where you are but they are starting to go away👍
Cheers for sharing some good fishing content mate, looks like an awesome day. I was also happy to catch a big gurnard in 5m deep around Raumati south last week!
@@jeremy2demain421 thanks mate was certainly a good day out. Awesome to hear about your gurnard they do seem to be hanging around the shallows at the moment👍
Nice work!! how deep is your shallow ?
@@nzsteenkamp anywhere from 4-12m seems to be where the magic happens
Thanks for sharing once again mate, and nice to see you getting the first pannies for the season 😊👍🤙
@@Wellington_Waters_NZ thanks mate good to have them back in shallow so we don’t have to wind up 110m for them🤣
mean...
A Tararua man myself of some years respect for an honest and funny but true capture of a tramp in the (Tararua) bush. Sux about the rats but yeah, just another Tararua treat eh? They're an awesome place to roam and I especially liked that yours was a mission beyond "look at me doing a walk". All the best mate and thanks for sharing!
@@dmays67 yeah mate bloody awesome place hopefully many more missions to come cheers for the comment🤙
Cunt see any fush : )) Cheers from Thailand
Such a cracking boat set up that you have 😊👍🤙
@@Wellington_Waters_NZ thank you mate she’s a ripper plenty of big missions to come👍
Limp mode. Is there a red light on. Air in the fuel intake was my issue.
@@surferscollective613 ah interesting didn’t notice a red light but it’s in the shop now they’ve given it a carb clean and taking it for a rest run on the water tomorrow so fingers crossed that will have solved it
Back in February I did a section of the Southern Crossing: from Waiohine-past Cone Hut to overnight at Alpha hut, past Kime then horrendous ridge in gale force winds and zero visibility to Maungahuka hut for the night. Definitely not recommended in such dangerous conditions. I learnt a lesson and live to tell the tale! What is it like on Marchant ridge? From what you said it can’t be too bad yet I’ve heard others saying how steep and muddy it is. You were so lucky having family waiting at Kaitoke otherwise I can’t see any reasonable way to get back to the start. That’s the problem with linear routes. I see you didn’t suffer from cramp this trip. What do you put that down to???
@@jeffc1604 Yeah those tops can get dangerous very quick definitely want to pick your days heading along them…Marchant ridge going south was fine I think people make it seem worse than what it is, going the other way wouldn’t be very fun but the way we went wasn’t bad at all. I did get terrible cramps on the first day which I didn’t add into the video but second and third day they didn’t give me any grief which was good. Thanks for the comment👍
What was wrong with the motor?
@@robperano7708 not sure yet, getting it looked at next week
I had to replace my fuel line @@N.S-fishingdivingoutdoors

@@Wellington_Waters_NZ cheers bro appreciate the comment!
Mean vid bro really enjoyed the watch your ballsey going all the way out there. Ps I like the sandals you were wearing in the boat 😂
@@dwhatsfishing cheers bro it’s a long way out but definitely worth it. It’s the sandals that bring the good luck🤣
@N.S-fishingdivingoutdoors Shit yeah for sure if I had a faster motor I would give it a crack. Yes bro the lucky sandals so good. Good on ya mate
1:59 WTF got edited out there? Sparky squeezen himself too hard? 😅
Hahahaha some interesting dialogue that’s all
Nice vid! Do you use the tractor when launching out kapiti or can you just use your suv?
@@rickycamara7096 we push the boat in when launching and for retrieving we just use a rope and tow the boat/trailer out of the water using the car👍
Well done lads, some nice snaps taken there. Cheers for sharing.
@@cococharliematenga4829 cheers mate appreciate the support👍
I thought this was a reserve not allowed to dive there unless you have a permit
Nah mate you can dive about 2/3 of the islands coastline but there is a couple of reserves which I stay well out of👍
Some nice footage and visability there. Good feed of paua too. Cheers for sharing.
Cheers mate appreciate that!
Is the whole track up that gnarly?🥴 Note to self: pick another hutt😬 I won’t be putting that one at the top of my list anytime soon lol. Gorgeous forest though, loved the return journey mists.
Hahahah no it’s not that steep the entire time. It’s still a very steep walk either way up though but beautiful on a clear sunny day would definitely still recommend as at least a day walk🙂
Nice one. I'm new to Kapiti so watching your vid's for local tips and tricks. Were you anchored while fishing or drifting. Cheers
Thanks for watching! Anchored this time. Most of the time will anchor unless in 40-50m+ then will drift👍
Good stuff mate, very informative content too for me, as I'm new to fishing. Went with the dinghy on Monday about 150m from Paraparam beach for the first time and caught a few kahawai and gurnard, pretty happy with that. Do you use burley every time when fishing?
Thanks mate! That’s a good haul for sure, in fact we went fishing on Monday too and only got 1 snapper and a bunch of kahawai so sounds like you did better then me🤣 Pretty much use Berley every time yea, if fishing 40m or under I’ll anchor and Berley, if deeper then 40m I just drift along👍
@@N.S-fishingdivingoutdoors Ahah yes didn't think I'll catch that much actually but makes me want to go back soon. Cheers for the adivice 👍👍
Nice work mate, great hall!

Cool! How do you usually setup the camera? Is it GoPro with a tripod or head mount or something?
Depends what I’m doing, either head mount, a GoPro mount screwed onto the boat, or in this one just sat the GoPro on the seat🤣
@@N.S-fishingdivingoutdoors nice! Keep up the fun videos! Getting into kayak fishing in welly and still yet to try up further north than paekakariki.
@@Isaacbuildsthings cheers mate, good on ya, the sharks are slowly making their way south but still a few more snaps out there to be caught👍
Another beaut session. You have caught more in this episode than I have caught combined over spring and summer from shore 😂. I need a drone and a boat anyway, thanks once again for sharing, loving your new boat. Cheers WW 😊👍🤙
Hahah thanks mate, there’s definitely the perks to being able to get on the water. Always thankful for being able to get out there and catch a feed👍
Sick first mission on the boat awesome to see the shallows are still thriving keep it up :)
