You're Watching the Frozen Movies Wrong.
A recent tweet by Jenny Nicholson prompted me to look at a 2020 documentary about the making of Frozen 2. This caused me to rethink the entire Frozen franchise and why it might be smarter than I initially gave it credit for.

3 Reasons Westworld Failed (But Why It's Good Anyway)
Просмотров 1,1 тыс.Год назад
Westworld was a good show, but it was also a flawed show. By taking a look at the reasons it failed, I think it's a little easier to appreciate it as a whole. Also, you know... spoiler alert for the entire series. (I think the title of the video implies the series will be spoiled, but... uh... just in case.) And sorry for the spotty video quality of some of the clips from the show. Did you know...

4:19 The UK certainly has more documented history, but in my opinion the show doesn't tap into it. Robin is a caveman and the second oldest ghost is a Tudor nobleman, which is a huge gap. No one from the Celtic or Roman or Medieval periods. Yes, there are the Black Death victims, but they are side characters.

After watching both, I admit I prefer the US version. A lot of things done in UK versions would not work in the US. Remember Pam getting ‘fired’ in season one of the Office. In UK Ghosts, Julian intentionally pushes Allison out the window, for the hitting the head scene and never apologizes. US Ghosts, Trevor was just trying to learn more about his ghost power when he pushed a vase onto the floor and Sam didn’t see the vase and slips on it and falls down the stairs. Trevor’s immediately regretful about his part in her potential death.

I have a complicated relationship with this show. I think that Jenna Ortega, Luiz Guzman, and Fred Armisan perform really fresh versions of Wednesday, Gomez, and Fester respectively. I really enjoyed seeing these actors bring these characters to life. I like seeing how Wednesday reacts to the coming if age events, such as odd couple roommates and dealing with other kids. I also seem to be in the minority in thinking that Wednesday's relationship strain makes sense, due to her being at the "I'm always right" teenager age. To me, her rebeling is inevitable, since she IS Morticia's daughter. I absolutely adored Thing and every scene he was in was awesome. On the other hand, I hate the Tim Burton monster, the pilgrim resurrection, and the series' insistance on going outlandish with the monsters. I disagree a little bit with some of your analysis about the Addams' self awareness. I respect your interpretation, but I think them being self aware makes the satire that they were created for pop even more. However, adding a bunch of monsters ruins this: the Addams are, despite their quirks, intended to be grounded in reality. That's what makes them different from, say, the Munsters. What makes them an effective foil to the Leave it to Beaver crowd is that they, themselves, are normal people with a different perspective and outlook. The biggest problem with this show is that it deviates from THAT formula. Really awesone video, i really enjoyed it!

I’ve watched several seasons of TMNZ, as I’m now almost through “series” 5 of the original UK production. I have always been able to tell, as an American, that the show would never survive being Americanized. It’s only fun because the contestants care enough about competing to really play along, even though the stakes are profoundly low. We have a terrible habit of taking everything too seriously, or not being interested unless the stakes are incredibly high. Most US game shows require huge cash prizes in order for people to care. TM is about taking the piss and doing your best.

Your analysis is used through today’s lens. In the 80’s this show was way different from anything else. The premise is what backed the writers into a corner. However it was a pleasure watching Paul fusco and the character he created. Max Wright was incredible on the show. It’s a shame he hated working on it. If I used today’s lens I could really pick apart a lot of shows over the years. Does not mean they where not great

It's true that the earlier seasons were better, but I watched it to the very end to see Sabrina's journey in life including her family & friends😊💖. I love the ending to show💖🥰💖, the only thing I wish for is that the witchs counsel got rid of the horrible rule of separating half children from their human parents, so Sabrina & her mom could be in each other's lives😢😨. To be honest, they could have a reboot of them both being able to uniting, know I'm sad angry that they didn't make this reboot instead, WWWHHHYYYY😭😭😭😭!!!!

US Ghosts is like an unfunny parody of Ghosts. Fart Powers. That's all I have to say. Fart Powers. Im sure it would have been funny when I was 5. But corny jokes and forced conflict are staples of the bubblegum American sitcom. Elite American comedies, like It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia or Seinfeld have more in common with Ghosts than they do with Ghosts US. This isn't about British or American. Its about good writing vs. lazy corporate formulaic writing.

I do not agree. There are multiple reasons I assumed this didn't work and one of them (for me) is the impatience of a US audience. I don't mean to attack all Americans, it's just my impression that on average there is very little time in US media. Taskmaster needs at least a bit of patience (understanding without immediately dismissing). I am not from the UK or an English speaking country and I think most people worldwide have more patience and do give interesting looking stuff a bit more credit - then you learn to love it. I also think complicated tasks are part of the fun and some contestants really wanting to win as well. Jo Brand was funny af but if there was no Ed Gamble nearly killing himself to win - it wouldn't work.
