I Tricked Myself Into Running, By Starting a Fitness Brand
I've never been one to stay motivated in keeping up my fitness.
Often, I've found short bursts of inspiration to work out or try to start a new workout routine - only to find myself tapering off within a few months.
But health is important, and good health is a gift. Which is why I want to stay committed to trying to keep my body in good shape. I'd much rather avoid the kinds of health issues that are avoidable by exercising regularly.
Currently, one of my goals is to build a media company from scratch. And one of the brands run by the company is a fitness brand, which ironically needs me to become more disciplined to run. Since I'll be creating the seed content, it's going to force me to b...

Why Goals Should Scare You

Sometimes you need to set goals that are bigger than you can achieve. By choosing something audacious or ambitious, you stretch and grow better than if you had set an easily achievable one instead. I've learned over the past few years, that setting myself up for a significant challenge will force me to learn how to actually overcome it. I end up learning more just by failing or struggling, than...
You Can't Afford (Not) Being An Entrepreneur

I left my job at Apple many years ago, not because it was a bad job - but because I wasn't feeling fulfilled. I decided to build my own business, and learned along the way that it's important to have a singular focus. It's tempting to try to do too much all at once, but I've learned some good advice along the way - to develop a singular focus and work on making that grow. I'm still learning as ...
Why You Can't Remember Anything

Have you ever wondered why life gets overwhelming sometimes, and you suddenly find it hard to keep on top of work/school/life? Chances are, you're oversaturated with unnecessary information. That can come from unfiltered consumption of social media. I've found that building a filter for myself has gone a long way in clearing up my mental fog, and given me more space to think clearly at times.
I Left a $60,000 Degree to Make Videos

I realized stability isn't guaranteed, even if I chose a career that would give me a stable job. Choosing to be self-employed and start my own business many years ago was the best decision I could make, and it's forced me to grow in ways I may have not - had I settled. My parents strongly encouraged me to choose a path that was more secure, but internally I knew that was just not how I'm wired,...
Video Number 1 of God Knows How Many

Hello. Welcome. I'm a self-taught filmmaker based in Vancouver, Canada currently building a media company from scratch. In working with video for over 10 years, I've found a great appreciation for good storytelling. Deciding to start a RUclips channel after all these years was not easy as I find it easier being behind the camera - but I look forward to growing more comfortable in front as well....
Absolutely love your videos!
Appreciate you!
keep it up brother!
Appreciate your encouragement!
Hey Andrew, great video! I'm also a filmmaker and just getting started. Do you have any advice on how to connect with like-minded people? I feel like valuable connections only come as you grow on social media. Thus I struggle to find skilled filmmakers who are up to creating.
Thanks Nicolas. I took a look at the video on your page from 2020, there's some good stuff in there! I'm going to throw a lot of thoughts your way. Learning from others is super valuable, and collaboration does sharpen you -- but my hunch is that you need to put yourself out there, and produce/release at your current skill level first. Use each video you create to learn what needs to improve. Obsess over getting slightly better each video. People will eventually notice, and connections will form organically (even on social media.) Don't fixate on growth of followers, fixate on growth of your craft. I found that I wasn't doing this myself because I was a bit ashamed that I wasn't further along in my ability to create (look up The Gap by Ira Glass), but now that I'm putting more out there -- I'm learning at an incredible speed, and improving my skills faster than I ever have. The other thing to think about (that really helped me) is: 'How can I serve others' more than 'How can others serve me?' You'll find more opportunities to collaborate come through this posture. You'd also benefit from connecting and collaborating with people who are less skilled than you. Create small scope projects that are easy to execute (so that you can do more of them, and not get overwhelmed before they see the light of day.) I'm sure you also have non-filmmaking friends who'd love to be filmed for a small spec project you put together (think things that can be filmed in half a day or a day). The cost of this is just your/their time. You may already be doing all this! And if so, keep going and trust the process. As you develop yourself and learn how to generate value in the world, opportunities will come. I wish you the best in your journey!
@@andrewjohnipe Thanks a lot for putting that much effort into this message. I've grown a lot over the past years and my quality has improved massively. I will continue to learn and start to share content. That's new for me but I know it's necessary. Right now I'm overcompensating a little because I haven't been doing this the past years. I was looking for short cuts and people to connect with but as you say, it will come organically. Thanks a lot Andrew
The editing and production is top, keep going bro you're gonna blow up

Hey Andrew , really nice video ! I was wondering if I could help you with more Quality Editing in your videos and also make a highly engaging Thumbnail and also help you with the overall youtube strategy and growth ! Pls let me know what do you think ?
I don't have a current need for that - but thanks for reaching out :)
Thank you, it really made me think about what I enjoy and how if I don't attempt it I will always be wondering, what if?
People talk about regretting things they didn't do, more than things they did. Glad you're looking at things through that lens :)

1:58 MILO!
😂 sad that didn’t make the cut. We’ve got to find a way to sneak him into a future video.
Really resonated with me being a self-employed filmmaker myself. I am also thinking of moving to Vancouver CA from the states... how do you like it there?
Good on you for taking the risk! Vancouver can be a tough place to live in as it’s rainy/cloudy through the winter and there’s a higher cost of living in general. A lot of people also find it hard to make connections here, but if you find a community - it’s a lovely place to be, as there’s mountains, the ocean and a relatively chill ‘small city’ vibe. Best of luck in your move, if and when you do!
Keep em comin boi 🔥🔥🔥
Haha will do 🙂↔️
