Amazing tutorial. Much better, and more strategically planned than most. Also extremely respectful of the viewer's time. Plus the way you added the suggested alternative commands. I've never found another tutorial that is so considerate. Thanks so much!
Thanks a lot man! It was a massive help
Happiness
In the Video when he wants to select a surface he use control and shift key. On Mac this doesn't work? does any one know the command on Mac to select a surfaces ?
Shift, command
Good work. After forming loft Like 3ds max how to select the grid or polygon in rhino And delete only that??? Can you explain
boolean union keeps failing 54:58 please help
Hi, perhaps try extruding a selection of only half (or less) of the surfaces at once and see if that works.
To avoid problem with extrude surface you can uncheck option /delete input/ in time: 1:13:15 Thank you for a lot of interesting informations.
That's really useful tutorial for beginner learners and we expect you to keep preparing new tutorials in the future 🫡
Please make tutorial on grasshopper
Using rhino 7, Had a problem at 1:17:32 while extruding, extrusion in a normal direction is getting difficult to do...are you using arrow keys to give it the direction as in what axis it has to be extruded, cause you said " extrusion in 'normal' direction. Didn't get it...cause I see in rhino 7 only X Y Z directions to extrude in, no normal option is there, everytime I am doing extrusion its getting extruded in any other direction. And it would be great to see you next time if you come up with some more videos like these. And it will be great if you can arrange to enable the option where whatever icon you type on is visible on screen too.
Hi, in Rhino 7, you can extrude SubD faces in the direction of their normals using the ExtrudeSubDFace command. This command provides an option to extrude faces along their individual normals, which should achieve the effect you're looking for. Let me know if that fixes the problem. Thanks for the feedback and hope this was useful!
Bro, can you make a video on photoshop.
this actually really nice to listen, youre waay too underrated keep the good work man 💪💪
Thanks for the encouragement!
❤
Thx
The design profession is full of opinions, most of which contradict each other and won't suit your personal agenda. I think that it's important to build up people around you whose opinions you respect and who you take seriously.
Recently I've come to discover how drastically people's metrics for success are within the design industry. For example, some people might envisage a design as reducing the effects of the housing crisis, but others might see the same outcome as a contributor to gentrification & climate change. It's amazing how convoluted success now is. Not only that, but success is often masked by failure now too. Something might look like a failure but is in fact a success in the overall strategy. It's a wonder how few retail stores are now rented out along main city streets. You might think this looks like failure, but in fact, for commercial property investors this is often a win because if they took a 10% reduction in rents it would affect the property's overall value using a capitalisation method, it would also make it less sellable because tenants rights to continue to occupy the building make it less sellable for a whole range of reasons. In this case, abject failure hides a greater victory. I honestly have no idea what success means in the design industry and if you think you do, then I would encourage you to be careful and dig deeper.
A major dilemma I seem to be facing a lot is balancing between the value of existing heritage vs the changes required to mend the housing crisis. I attended a speaker series by John Gollings tonight where he reflected on his long career as an Architectural Photographer and what I found fascinating was that after almost every story there was an omission that "you can't do that anymore". It makes me wonder whether so many of the wonderful designs we appreciate among our city's heritage would be able to be built in our vastly more restricted design environment and whether overzealous regulation has the beneficial effect we intend it to or whether it is, in fact, confining creativity.
Cool! Thanks for sharing!!!
Whenever I'm feeling creatively burnt out there's nothing that I love more than kicking my feet up and digging into the little library of books that I've started to amass.
Design school can be pretty brutal at times, particularly when you’re issued infeasible workloads and many people in the design industry just expect you to give up work-life balance and potentially your health to fulfil deadlines. Perhaps the most valuable piece of guidance a tutor ever offered was after I emailed them late at night looking for clarification on an assignment. They emailed me right back, told me to get some rest, and suggested we figure out a solution together tomorrow. It might not sound like much but it had a big effect on my expectations of the industry and gave me enormous respect for that person.
The design industry may well be oversaturated with massive ego's hahah. However, I actually appreciate people having confidence so long as they don't feel the need to put other people down to raise themselves up or let it get in the way of discussing ideas. I actually feel like supporting talented people to feel more confident in themselves is the broader and underappreciated challenge for a lot of people in the design community.
I find the most underrated trait of a group partner is that they bring perspectives and skillsets that I lack. I really appreciate radically different points of view. I think a lot of people find this jarring in a group partner where you are trying to pull the projects in different directions but I actually find that it leads to much richer and more considered outcomes. Plus I feel like I learn way more than if I was just paired with someone that shared all the same sensibilities as myself. Let me know what you think the most undervalued trait is too.
My lesson actually comes from someone else. I was listening to a podcast featuring R.F. Kuang who is the Author of the NY Times best-selling book Yellowface. She was recounting her first book signing at a local store. Before the signing, she was excitedly anticipating meeting readers but was met with an empty venue. The lesson I took from this is that we usually widely underestimate the amount of time and degree of consistency required to have an impact.
When I was in my first year of studying architecture one of the groups in my class went into a barber shop and took some of the hair off the floor to adorn their model. The tutor loved it!!! I appreciate their originality and creativity but not sure it’s for me lol.
Wow, do you have a website? Any more videos planned??? Genuinley helped so much!
Great work Mr Legacy Design
Thank you for the feedback! Wonderful to hear that this has been helpful for you!
Starting Today. Thanks for the Video!
Best of luck! I hope it supports you to produce your best work! My biggest piece of advice to you is to not lose sight of what an ambitious undertaking it is to learn all this. This software can be a bit intimidating sometimes so don't lose sight of how good it will be to have the extensive skillset to model, fabricate, render and document with an extremely high level of skill by the time you finish working your way through this tutorial. Let me know how it goes!
So true about the freedom created by these programs, amazing
This is such a wonderful video to watch. Brilliant
