JellyRoll Crosshatch
Hey all,
Join me today to quilt my jellyroll race quilt. This quilt was a lot of fun to make and used up a jellyroll that is SO OLD.
I'm using the technique that Kelley Janome taught us a few weeks ago, along with the Reposition Start Point way to advance that I call the Micki Way. I know a lot of you do it and you should name it after yourself. I do love there are so many ways to do things and we get to find the one that works best for us.
I have the links to Kelley, Micki, and other other videos below. I hope you enjoy and don't forget to Like, Subscribe, and hit the BELL icon so you are notified with anything happens on the Adam Sew Fun RUclips Channel!!!

    Can’t thank you enough for putting out these videos! I want to do this. Ordered a DB panel , but it is smaller. I am thinking the stitch design is going to be way too dense to shrink it. Do you think?

    • @susanmei9980
      @susanmei9980 5 дней назад

      It’s a good way to experiment on a small pillow panel. If you don’t like it, you can do another. Or, how about you set it up for your panel; then have some plain fabric loaded along side, and stitch it out on the plain first, and see if you like the density there, bf you do it on your real panel?

    I am searching for NEEDLE and TENSION suggestions when stitching different thread weights. I know the numbers on our machines are arbitrary, but there should at least be some kind of help. For example, I could state: "Omni thread will need to be set tighter than Glide by approximately 10 digits higher." I have learned that. However, I have big time trouble with MonoPoly and quite a bit of trouble with MicroQuilter. I've found that a 16 needle works better for me than the recommended 14, but I have no clue about tension. I have taken my top down by 25 numbers and still have breakage. One woman says she puts it through only one hold before disc. Could you please sometime do a chart or video on how to set these up? I've watched these several times but don't get the instruction or help I need for tension. Thanks. Your videos are great because you usually get right to the heart of the matter (instead of going on and on) but are not so fast that we don't see it and get it. Thanks for all the videos.

    • @jadm222
      @jadm222 Месяц назад

      When using either of those threads, you want to go in just one hole in the barber pole (I usually go in the bottom one). Each of the holes adds more tension to the thread and we are trying to keep as much tension off those threads as possible, so they don’t snap. Are you using a cone or spool? I find it harder with the spools because pulling the spool to rotate also takes some tension. Do you use the drop test or towa for your bobbin? Ultimately, if you set your tension for Omni and it’s perfect. Pull some thread at the pig tail and all other threads should feel about the same. I sometimes see people who do the drop test have issues because the bobbin tension is tight. Although it works for the stronger threads, once you have something that is more delicate, the top cannot get tight enough without snapping. You might need to loosen the bobbin up some. Hope all that helps.

    • @JuliePettyjohn
      @JuliePettyjohn Месяц назад

      @@jadm222 Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I will try one hole in barber pole. I use Towa and set between 180 and 200; I prefer 180. I will remember to keep bobbin loose if having the issues mentioned. (If I stay with Glide always, no trouble; but who wants that? More fun to live life dangerously on the longarm, right?) Using cones.

    Do you have to create another frame space? What about an area? Thanks

    • @jadm222
      @jadm222 2 месяца назад

      If you are using Lite, you will need to make another frame space. Actually, I would make a new frame space each advance to make sure everything is in the clear when you go to stitch. You don’t need to make a new area. Once you have set up your E2E with your area, saved and started to stitch, the area isn’t needed anymore. Some people will clear the area before they start stitching, I like to keep it up because it’s a good guide to keep everything lined up straight.

I have been climbing underneath the quilt to cut the bobbin thread since I got my machine. Not so easy at my age! Hi Adam I recently purchased my LauraStar lift and I don't feel like I know how to use it properly. I watched your recent video Perfect Crosshatch with Pro-Stitcher using the grid on a quilt with the space between the sections. As you were using the iron it looked like you were using steam directly on the fabric. I was instructed not to use steam but too clear the steam before ironing. So I am confused. A couple times I hit the steam button and left a puddle on the fabric. Please do a video on the use of the LauraStar lift. I have reread the manuel and still would appreciate your "how to use" video. Next where can I purchase accessories to use Adam sewfun10? Thank you.

    • @adamsewfun.
      @adamsewfun. 2 месяца назад

      You should absolutely be using steam. I use steam for everything. Before you use it, you should be clearing the steam hose (pointing the soleplate to the side and holding the steam button for a few seconds). After that, you can use the steam as normal when pressing. If you clear the hose, you shouldn't be getting any water puddles on the fabric. That is usually what happens when you don't clear the hose. As for my ASF10 discounts, I have links on my Facebook page with places that I have affiliate codes. Not everyone has a discount but a lot of them do. It's pinned to the top of my Adam Sew Fun Facebook page.

I am wondering if you can tell me how you handle a small random eyelash situation on a quilt. I didn't see them until I was done the rows. Do you pick these out and restitch before you unload the quilt? Or leave them in and hope they disappear in the wash? Thanks again for all you do and how you make it fun!!!
