His Soul Calibur 5 p1 is my fave! Odd he's never really had a very Piratey look but then I suppose Cervantes fills that role! I'd love you to look at the Bonus character designs from SC3 and SC4! Also Anna from Tekken!!! :D

I think the designs in 5 are solid, but they also highlight that for the most part, the newcomers were just younger versions of their replacements! ZWEI is a fan favourite of mine and I hope he returns one day! Elysium, Viola, Ivy, Maxi and Cervantes looked amazing in this game!!!

I actually like his 2nd costume in Sc5, his armour looks like it's made with metal waste and that makes sense since he was retired for over a decade.

In Soul Calibur 1 and 3 armored Cervantes looked more Roman Centurian than anything else in my eyes. Its the design and the gold armor.

I love his SCV 1P costume because Its similar to his 2P outfit from SoulCalibur (1998). difference though is Hes wearing large prayer beads around his body from shoulder to hip, Hes more aged and his hair is shorter with grey streaks, and His hakama and robes are more tattered and colored Dark Blue, Red, & Black with white flame designs Fun Fact: His SCV 1P outfit was added as part of the DLC character creations in the season 3 DLC pack of Soulcalibur VI

Funnily enough, this is one of 2 instances where Julie Ann Taylor voiced a red-haired fighter that fights with 2 weapons, 2.5 if you count Izayoi. Same goes for Yuko Kaida since Nariko from Heavenly Sword was in PS All Stars. But yeah Hilde's outfits are really strong all round while Dampierre.......I mean his character could've worked if it wad writen differently, but yeah he's Lore/Tonal Dissonance.

Yeah, Damp should've been fine as a goofball character, but he looks too much like a cosplayer to me for some reason, like a steam-punk reject. Even certain guests like Ezio, Link and Heihachi fit in better visually. Though I do think him being the resident joke character does alleviate it a bit. I still can't help but wonder which cut characters could've been chosen instead of him. Hilde's not my favorite or anything, but I really dig her visuals. She even has distinct facial features too. Obviously, the marrying her cousin is some nasty shit, but you expect royals to do that sorta thing back in the day.

since you're starting to talk about the Dead or Alive costumes, could you do an episode about Tina or Mila? I find that it is the female characters of DOA who have the most variety of style costumes.

sc6 breastplate is horrible and makes him look fat

Hilde is my second favorite SOULCALIBUR character (my first being Setsuka and my third being Amy/Viola) its a shame her lore wasn't fleshed out, same with the rest of SCV's roster. Like according to her description, she participated in the assault on Nightmare's Castle but we dont see her, heck we dont even know if she survived. her SCVI story, like the rest of the roster, it ends on a cliffhanger which may never be resolved because Bandai Namco seems to have no interest expanding the new timeline. Instead they want to put all their resources into Tekken 8.

I don't really have much to say on both of these two tbh. Hilde I like, and I think she has a good design, but I can never gel her moveset that well, I like the idea of her moveset, (Especially since I'm a sucker for characters who use flags as weapons) but I just don't really like playing her. Maybe her SC6 version would change my mind, but I don't have her DLC so I wouldn't know. And Dampierre I think has potential, especially from what you've described, (Haven't played Broken Destiny much despite owning it on my PS4 after they added it) but he doesn't seem to meet that potential. Honestly, I wouldn't mind if he came back with a fairly different take on his design and story. Moveset I have no idea on since I don't have him in SC5 and haven't played Broken Destiny much.

i like all these takes!! i will say though when i use hilde in 4 and 5 i almost always go with her 2ps bc i like the elegance of them lol. dampierre is such a disappointment as a character because he has SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much potential to be such a great villain but then they had to make him...like that... literally so much of the problem in sc5 is his fault. like how did THAT GUY have that much influence in the lore hello??? that said though i do want to see him back and i want his henchmen in too. gisele is too good of a design for them not to use her lol. i feel like you could honestly go a team rocket kind of direction with that bunch but then where would they even fit into the game

Hilde has really great designs in my opinion, instantly recognisable every time. Dampierre gives me so much Waluigi vibes I just can't help to like him and his cartoony design and attitude BUT he clearly doesn't fit with SC as a whole.

I was kind of bummed out when I found out not many SoulCalibur fans were well...fans of the Waluigi looking but also dapper looking Dampierre. Even the SoulCalibur wiki page for Dampierre had a fun fact trivia saying he was one of the worst character's in this series from top 10 lists...ouch that is rough. Since I honestly hope he returns for future entries of this series.

I too am a SoulCalibur guy myself. Street Fighter is...well it's decent, but I greatly prefer Project Soul's creation.

Classic Sub-Zero in UMK3 is actually the original Sub-Zero.

SC4 Cassandra is the best one. I'm glad the outfit was brought back in six.
